Six Flags Fiesta Texas (SFFT) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I've never made it to SFFT, but from looking at the park from aerial images, it looks to be hands-down the most beautiful and well-planned SF park I've ever seen. I'm a little surprised that there's been little reaction to plopping down a cookie-cutter gotham city in the middle of what seems to be a fairly unique and pleasant environment that is hard to find in a typical SF park. I'm curious to get an honest reaction from someone who's visited the park for an appreciable number of years.

I mean, Gotham City could be OK if they reuse this environment, but some of the other implementations at other parks just feel underwhelming, and Rockville looked neat.

Back on topic.

I remember in years past watching the video announcements. I believe it's more 10am EST when the announce. Has it been confirmed a time?

The last few years it has been very very early in the morning. I remember getting up at 6 last year for work and watching the announcement video with my morning coffee.

Just had to clean this thread up. Let's please stay on target.

And at TPR we take the quality of our posts very seriously. If you have a problem with posters being called out for using terrible grammar, you should probably stop posting on our forum. Especially, if your posts are terrible as well.

Well, if that's the case then that will make my day easier. I was trying to figure how I was going to watch during my meeting at work. I kind of do remember waking up early now.

One thing to remember is SFFT started out as Fiesta Texas. That's why the park was planned so different then your typical Six Flags. As far as Rockville, it's a nice area. I feel if Gotham takes over part of it. It's just going to be painting some buildings and slapping a Wayne Industries logo on the windows. It sounds like it's just going to be part of the area that changes, leaving the rest as is. I trust the SFFT team on this one. I love to see them add a bar to the area.

As disappointed as I'll be to get a coaster with a ZacSpin layout, I guess it's better than getting a State Fair Super Loop.

Shame on you Six Flags.

A 4D Free Spin looks MUCH more promising than a ZacSpin IMO for the U.S. Elsewhere, would have to wait and see how it rides. Edited by RCF

Why? Insane shows how amazing this type of ride can be and I think the S&S offering could actually be an improvement - updated layout and forcing the ride to flip in certain places. Just watch the TPR video on it. Looks awesome.

You're right, and it probably will end up being awesome. I'm just not really a fan of the that style coaster, and all I can picture right now is a black ZacSpin with the Batman logo on it.

This is an old post now, but: http://www.themeparkoverload.net/2014/08/SixFlagsFiestaTexas2015AttractionRumorsRideRollerCoasterSFFT2015FreeSpin4DFlatRide.html

Is there any precedent for S&S Engineering to outsource its physical track construction? I would be a bit surprised if RMC's wooden/I-Boxtrack were used with S&S's spinning trains as the spinning trains are almost certainly much heavier than RMC's usual trains. This presents quite a change in engineering scope and thus has me a bit skeptical of the use of wood. However there have been many undeniable clues about both the use of RMC and wood, and frankly, the track for S&S's prototype looks like it's running on the I-Box track (though with temporary metal supports) already. (Edit: Yes, it is on RMC's I-Box track.)

If this combination is true, then we can probably assume the entirety of the track will have wooden supports underneath of it and thus not have any large inversions built into the track. Such things probably aren't necessary with this type of train, though, as the cars will be flipping anyway. It'll be quite a unique design, I think, both to look at and ride.

So basically we're looking at a 120ft tall wood-and-steel 4D free-spin that goes under the existing pedestrian bridge and goes up and over the Poltergeist loading station before returning. That's my final best guess before the final announcement tomorrow.

I also wonder if Poltergeist will be renamed and rethemed to Joker's Jinx to fit with the alleged coming Gotham theme.

S&S actually outsources ALL of their track construction for every coaster they build. They use a number of different companies for their track. When we rode the prototype, they did tell me that RMC would be supplying the track for that style of ride.
