Six Flags Fiesta Texas (SFFT) Discussion Thread

^You mean the big mechanical train designed to safely transport 24 riders through the course doesn't look like a real snake?

Seriously though, these trains are awesome looking! I can't wait to see the first testing videos.

Here's another SF Facebook picture. That turn into the tunnel!!!!! :O

That's an awesome shot. It's really cool to see how much different the entrance into the tunnel is now and compare where the track used to be to where it is now. Can't wait for this summer

Ask and you shall receive

Ok, that was seriously funny - I let out a nice audible laugh here at work!! Thanks for that.....good way to kick off the end of a work week!

Those trains are probably the coolest and most gorgeous ones I have ever seen. That snake head busting out of the front is total bad-a$$! And as an added bonus, they look incredibly roomy/comfortable from that side shot.

If only I lived closer to Texas......

This article got posted on the SFFT Facebook page!

http://www.mysanantonio.com/entertainment/article/Rattling-and-rolling-in-2013-4314410.php

Six Flags Fiesta Texas' 2013 season opens this weekend with new rides, shows and dining options. But if you're afraid of record-breaking roller coasters — and/or snakes, for that matter — this year's biggest attraction is not for you.

Iron Rattler, a wood and steel hybrid coaster that replaces the park's signature thrill ride, the Rattler, will open this spring. And if the original, pre-lawsuit Rattler of '92 was your cup of tea, the Iron Rattler is the whole steaming pot (see “Coming soon” at left).

Until the new and improved rattlesnake is ready to strike, check out the park's new offerings and old favorites.

Thrills

Crackaxle Canyon's skyline has a new addition, Slingshot, a ride in which two people sit in an open-air capsule and are propelled 200 feet into the air. It costs $20 per person in addition to regular park admission ($15 for season-pass holders).

Other favorites on the rollicking roster:

Boomerang: Riders go through multiple loops and a corkscrew, and then do it all again backward.

Frisbee: Get spun and swung at the same time.

Goliath: Double-knot those shoelaces — your feet are on the loose on this inverted steel coaster.

Pandemonium: Another spinner, this time on a roller coaster track.

Poltergeist: Hang on to your hats: This one goes from zero to 60 mph in fewer than four seconds.

Road Runner Express: Family-friendly mini-coaster dodges Wile E. Coyote's antics.

Scream: It's all in the name. Riders are launched up a 20-story tower over ... and over ...

SkyScreamer: Swing up 20 stories, then around at 40 mph.

Superman Krypton Coaster: The largest steel coaster in the Southwest — and it has no floor.

Shows and shopping

Brand-new this season is “Rock the Flags,” a Christian concert scheduled for Sept. 21 (artists to be announced). Broadway revue “Ovation” will be updated with new songs, and various Latin shows will be held in Teatro Fiesta this summer.

As always, “Rockin' at Rockville High” and “Country Chart Toppers” return. The contemporary country show will be joined by one with more classic country tunes as the season progresses, said spokeswoman Sydne Purvis.

Two new stores open: Boardwalk Bargains, a sports apparel shop in Fiesta Bay Boardwalk, and Bloomstead's, where Iron Rattler riders can purchase souvenirs and apparel as they exit the coaster.

Eats and Drinks

The park offers a season dining pass for the first time. At $69.99 (or $62.99 each when purchased in a family four-pack), it will provide lunch and/or dinner (depending on the time the guest arrives) to regular-season pass holders through Sept. 22.

“Folks suggested that it was something they were looking for,” Purvis said.

New dining options include handcrafted flavored pretzels at The Pretzel Stop, fresh- squeezed lemonade at two Bill's Lemonade locations, Breyer's products at Six Below Ice Cream and customized beverages at Coke Freestyle, a station with more than 100 drink and flavor choices.

I'm excited about the shows and the new pretzel place! Also, I had suspected that Bloomstead's was going to be used for iRat souvenirs since they were clearing it out last season. What do you guys think about the new stuff for this season?

Upon reading the article that was posted on SFFT, I only have one complaint:

"Those bubbleheads! How could they have forgotten to mention the Hustler? C'mon, riders and amusement park flyers, that has to be one of the best rides in the park. And no mention of the Log Flume that is themed after a Bugs Bunny cartoon in which he goes on a quest to find the singing sword? How many log flume rides would have a theme like that? How dare they slight those rides?"

DISCLAIMER - This is only a joke. I have no problems with their article because they can't list every ride, I mean, if they did we'll be reading all day. This was only a joke.

"I'm not perfect; I just love to ride."
