bspellx5
I always thought that would be kind of cool, it's only happened to me once on the Boomerang at TGE, it didn't make it up the 2nd spike, but it wasnt that big of a deal IMO. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced that.
Medusa1861
I got a valley on dragon at Bowcraft Amusement park. The 2nd set of wheels wouldn't spin... It was so fun, but it was my first time on the ride and i was worried if I can count it that i've been on it. But then later that day they fixed it and i got a full ride on it. dandaman
There was a kiddie coaster in (I believe) the UK that 20 or so TPR people singlehandedly broke on the 2006 tour. The name escapes me, though.
Carnage
^ Happy Gator. Although it was more like 5 or 6 of us. Big Mike and I had to bail out of the train to get it going again.
dandaman
Only 5 or 6? I should've guessed.
Carnage
Well it was a tiny powered kiddy coaster ...
Sunfire
I've never been on a coaster when it vallied. But I have operated a coaster while it vallied. Invertigo at CGA. The train didn't catch onto the lift at the end so we had to E-Stop it. Luckily no one got hurt, and the coaster was back up later that night, but I don't remember how long. Bolliger&Mabillard
^Same here. I was at Riddler's on a windy day, and as we sent a test train it vallied between Incline and Mid Course. That's when I got certified for Tatsu.
sfgadviperboi
Yes my first year working on Viper at SFGADV (1996). It went up into the twist and came right back down to the bottom of the drop. Did this for over two months.
dpcman
I got caught on Sidewinder at Hersheypark this summer. When the ride goes up for the reverse lift, the chain failed to catch so they had to e-stop the ride right after the loop. For anyone who doesn't know, Sidewinder is a boomerang coaster. sccoasterfan
Dejavu at Six Flags Over Georgia back when it first opened. It vallied after the cobra roll. It took them 45 mins to get us off.
spaceace12
Well, i was on Lost Coaster during the GOCC coaster event and the tires to bring the coaster into the station had a little water on it. Ran fine when workers tested it, but with 4 adults, it didn't make it up up into the station. Took four workers to push us into the station and about 5 times to finally get it. Didn't have nay trouble after the first run.
Coasterlvr_nc
I have never been on a vallied roller coaster. However, I have evacuated guests off of Taxi Chase at Carowinds before, that was interesting.
LBIJim
The Mine Train at Six Flags Over Texas at least 25 years ago. Couldn't quite make it up the last incline into the station. Rolled back and forth several times until it finally came to a stop in the Western-themed tunnel. The ride reopened later in the day and my next ride was normal. Loch Ness Monster about 1990. I was riding in the first car. We had a normal ride but the first car overshot the station upon returning. They emptied the rest of the train and sent us around again. After the first loop I suppose there wasn't enough momentum to carry us up the incline into the helix tunnel. The train rolled back s-l-o-w-ly to the base of the loop. It took about a half hour to evacuate us in a "cherry picker" type utility device. This was shortly before closing and the park was closed by the time we were evacuated. Busch Gardens gave us a free return pass for another visit.
SFjunkie2010
The closest I have ever been to a vallied coaster is getting stuck on the brake run of SROS SFNE for 45 minutes. Sounds like fun though....
winningfreak
I was almost on one yesterday but a line cutter stopped that. At SFMM someone cut us in line for Tatsu and there car got stuck on the break run. It was kinda funny because it was stuck there for about 15 minutes where they couldent get to to go down they where stuck facing the ground.... Jumboshrmp
^Same here. I was at Riddler's on a windy day, and as we sent a test train it vallied between Incline and Mid Course. That's when I got certified for Tatsu. Riddler's Revenge? I can't believe a B&M valleyed, that surprises me. What I hoped to find out when I was reading this thread is, how do you move a train if it valleys somewhere that isn't near a block zone? Do they need to get a crane and disassemble the train, then put it back together in the maintenance shed?
coastercrazy216
I was on Candy Cane Coaster at Santa's Workshop in Colorado (yes I am a credit whore) and it vallied between the lift and the first hill. It took 20 minutes for them to get us off. It was the first time the coaster had vallied according to the manager of the park.
Emiroo
^^ It depends on how far the train is from the brake block and/or what elements are in between. In many cases, they will use a crane, tie a cable to the train and do a pull through to the next block whereafter gravity does the rest. Though in some situations, they simply take the upstop wheels off the train and use the crane to move the train completely off the track and back to the station. V2-dude
I've had THBS at SFDK valley when we ran a test cycle after some downtime. It was between the last airtime hill and the brakes.
cprocks22
Wicked Twister Seriously though, never been on a ride that has vallied, did see one of raptors trains valley during a test run though. I think it was the last day of operation 2 years ago and they just didn't bother re-opening it.
PKI Jizzman
No, but Vortex and Racer started to run empty trains yesterday and due to the high winds....they were really making me nervous!
