  1. Here's how I rank... I put almost no thought into it. You kind of get a sense of what is really good, and then just go quickly straight through. I always find that once I go back and look, you start second guessing yourself "well, was this one just a bit better?" Some people already said it, that ranking isn't supposed to be taken too seriously. As long as the coasters are in a general location, you're set. When I look at my top 10 steel and wooden I think "that doesn't look too shabby" not "Oh, was Olympia Looping better than Intimidator 305? Or what about Goliath. Was that even better?" I feel trying to quantify an opinion is rather silly when anyone who looks at a top 10/20/30 etc. list really just wants to know "What are the best rides that I haven't been on? Maybe I should visit that place next"
  2. Emergency trip to Six Flags Fiesta Texas 7/14 and Sea World 7/15/12. Then Fly back and go to work the next day with 3 hours of sleep. Really need to sleep now but too excited...
  3. Ok, It's about time I stepped in with all this Green Lantern bashing. I just got done riding it 10 times today (61 times this season). Green Lantern isn't rough. There are a few rows on... I believe the X train towards the back that are a little rough but I would be no means call the ride rough. I personally find Bizzaro to be worse. I previously read that people thought the loading was slow on the ride. I've been on every B&M stand-up but Riddler's Revenge and I've witnessed many ways of how they go about loading stand-up rides. I'd have to say that the Green Lantern crew is fast only 2nd to Mantis' (I have no idea what Cedar Point does to keep their crew so... focused on speed). I talked to one of the girls about it, and she tells me that a bunch of people have been quitting, So I wouldn't be so hard on a crew when you can tell that people are being trained. I am by no means a fanboy of the park, it's just the closest thing to me. I'm not saying that when you guys went it wasn't rough or having a slow crew, but I'm not a fan of one bad experience and you need to tell the whole world how terrible the park/ride/employees are. In other news... Fender Bender's foundation has FINALLY been poured where Evolution used to stand. So sorry people on the new hottness trip, I will be amazed it is ready by the time you guys visit.
  4. I've done it twice. I'd really like to get out more but tires cost a fortune. I do it in South Jersey, It's way smaller than that, the entire course is just tight turns with the occasional 200 feet of straight track. I drive a mostly stock 2007 Chevy Cobalt. I generally finish...last or close to it.
  5. For Drafting... New Jersey Devils! Pittsburgh Steelers, and Phoenix Coyotes.
  6. Ok, So 6/24/2012. I walked around the Manasquan Reservoir 3 times totaling 15 miles. After eating at the Cassville, We decided to check out Blackbeard's Cave in Bayville, NJ to check out their miniature golf. It's been a long day and a great meal so logically I needed some relief. I saw this attractive looking pole and... I was feeling really good about this. But there was a problem.I felt something or someone was looking at me. I was spooked and discovered just what it was... It was a franken duck!! PS. No public urination actually occurred.
  7. They removed the drop tower from Clementon? It was the best ride there last year.
  8. Can I get some Goliath at La Ronde love? Every hill was filled with perfect floater. At least when I rode it with the trims on.
  9. That is so disappointing. I was probably at SFOG the day or two after you left and had to ride the Vekoma train on ninja and it was absolutely terrible with the old GASM train sitting right there in the transfer area. I really wish I got to ride it, I bet it really is night and day depending on what train you get to ride.
  10. Ok, I think i got it. It's just a rather strange way to purchase tickets on the screen. So I would put in my information for me, press add to cart, then edit the criteria for the guest, and hit add to cart. If I have it right.
  11. One question.. I see that guests get the club TPR membership rate, but I don't believe guests would get the season pass discount rate. Would I just add on $5 to the order?
  12. Oh, this is exciting, I was like Elisa, I was a Geography minor and enjoyed GIS. What program are you using? ARC GIS? I'm still getting ARC user magazine just because I registered my program. I have respect for you, you had to do a whole lot of research, and having experience, it may not seem like much, but it take a long time to get all that data in. I hope you enjoy doing all this, it's always fun.
  13. So, I saw that sub-topic about the "best pic ever" thought, "That's a pretty tall order, i bet it won't live up to it" clicked, and I'm impressed. It beats Hanno's Winjas photo (if you haven't seen it, you're missing it) I would have to agree. That photo alone makes me think, "I should go on another TPR trip" because girls are awesome... and so are the coasters. Keep up the good photos! Hopefully we get to see some faces!
  14. I'm off from work next Saturday (sept. 11) and was considering going to take a long drive over to Conneaut and Kennywood. But i can't tell from the website if the park is even open. Was this weekend the end of the season? The website just talks about hours during "the season" but never really says when the season begins or ends. The title posting about the coaster being open Sept 2-6, doesn't make it sound like it is either. But I just wanted to check before driving over there just to find everything closed.
  15. I also experienced some slight roughness on Volcano. I'm not saying it's rough, it's not, there was just one turn (don't ask me where) that had a bit of that. I was in the front on one of those nearly empty trains if that has anything to do with it. But it's still a top 10 in my opinion. I'd also like to defend a bit of Intimidator 305. It is my #1 steel coaster as of this writing. It was not on my first ride. Yes the trims feel a bit heavy, BUT you can't go into the ride thinking "what if" and take it as "what is." Once I rode again, going into it thinking this is a great ride, it quickly became my #1. I did not ride it previously, but I feel that it would have been most likely better now. The restraints are MUCH better than the previous ones (using my opinion of them when I rode iSpeed, Storm Runner, etc.) I was discussing this with my guest, about the theming of the coaster. And it is a great tribute to a race car driver. The high speed turns and quickness from left to right, (even though NASCAR is only left turns). But to bring it even further to accept the trim brakes, if anyone races or played racing games, you can't go into a high speed turn at full speed, or else you'll have (most likely) understeer, crash and die. So the brakes sort of simulate the track. Go into the ride at that mindset and not a "i'm a coaster enthusiast and everything must be as fast, sharp, and airtime full as possible" and I hope your opinion of the ride will be better. I understand many of you aren't into positive Gs and quick turns, but if that is the case, then there's no reason to complain about the trims in the first place. To end this, The East Coast Bash in my opinion was a success and I hope translates to even more. I would also like to thank the park officials if they read TPR, for literally doing everything they could to make our stay amazing.
  16. That last Phantasialand photo is my new desktop background. Do you happen to have a larger, higher quality version? I do appreciate these photos very much and look forward to the next set!
  17. So after an awesome Europe trip. I decided to try to never do an amusement park without ever again. So when this opened up. I'm 100%. My question is though. That I would like to also join club TPR and be one of the first non-charters! I'd like to send a check, all in one go. So can I purchase both, and then send a check specifying that this is for both the bash and club? Or is your account set up that i would need an individual check for each?
  18. I love this update! Olympia Looping is one of my favorite coasters, and these pictures show off just why, all the expressions on everyone's faces! Not to mention a really good photo with me on it!
  19. lol, I live in Hazlet, (The town next to Keansburg) So, i would like to add some information.. Yeah, Keansburg is close to the city, and in it's prime (1920s-30s) there used to be boats that went from NYC to Keansburg. It was a popular "daycation". But ever since... I forget, either a flood, or fire that ruined the boardwalk (yes, it used to be a boardwalk.. with actual wood. I never knew why everyone said "let's go to the baordwalk" until I found out the id bit of information), where a whole lot was ruined it never came back and now just holds quite a few old rides.
  20. I see Dragsterfan has a Cobalt, and Thought it would be nice to show some Chevy Cobalt love around here. This is me and my 2007 Cobalt at the SCCA South Jersey Autocross meet. I placed 4th from last! Anyone else AutoX here?
  21. ^^ I would hardly say they "dropped the ball" both franchises played a really good game. The game winning goal was nearly unstoppable for any goalie to have a deflection like that. I think the Devils got this one now that they know they can actually beat the Flyers. They went the regular season 1-5 against the Flyers. Kovalchuk is starting to get better. Once he stops taking dumb penalties like he did last night's game, Flyers will have a whole lot of trouble.
  22. There's no such thing as multitasking. The closest thing you can get to multitasking as they call it is the ability to manage your movements to do what is most important first. And although banning using a cell phone while driving hasn't had any impact on crash rates, it doesn't mean that it isn't a problem. So far it seems like everyone on the forum can give you an example of when people using cell phones have caused or almost caused a serious accident. Yes, there are other distractions that can cause accidents, but this one is one that the driver puts on themselves. To me, their are two solutions to this problem. Both of which are near impossible. A cultural change where we will actually talk to people and utilize the new technology in cars where you can use your voice to call people, all hands free. The second, which is even less likely to happen. Make cars fun to drive. Or at least make it so people won't be so afraid to learn manual. I'm sorry, I'm just sick of hearing people say "Texting/talking on the cell phone doesn't affect my driving" because it kind of does... significantly affect it. This is what is the bigger problem with driving cars, in my opinion. It seems less and less people find driving to be fun. If you don't want to drive manual because you can't talk on the phone at the same time, then you value talking more than driving. I drive an '07 Cobalt Coupe LT with manual transmission, a performance intake, and strut bar and that I must say is fun to drive. If driving wasn't seen as a chore to many, I feel that that could significantly drop accidents.
  23. awww, I miss NYC. I was just there for the New Jersey Devils Vs. New York Rangers game. It always feels like home there. I find it funny that 27 degrees is noteworthy as being cold for you. But i guess being in Kansas that is drastic.
  24. Wow, That's actually a really good point. I guess I'm not really an Intamin hyper coaster kind of guy. and onto going back to Tampa to acquire some taste. Hey, Kumba was fantastic. Montu was the only ride there that didn't live up to expectations, could it be that it was over-trimmed on the day I went? I'm starting to feel like steel coasters are getting more like wood coasters, where it depends on what day you go if it will be fun or not. Steel: 123 Wood: 100
