While I'm not a fan of the Golden ticket awards, I do have to agree with the ones above.

As I read through them all, I really cannot complain about any of the picks as I was selected to participate this year and voted with the majority of them.

Of course they got some wrong according to Big Mike, but what can you do.

It was a great laugh to see El Toro ranked 4th behind Thunderhead and Phoenix LOL. Now thats a joke!

The WORST part about reading this poll is when I read the Top 50 steel coasters and I have been on 48 of them already!!! I will get Tatsu in Oct, only leaving one coaster in Edmonton to look forward to.

It's all downhill for me now

Peace, Big Mike

Some of those that won do deserve the award as that park(Holiday World for example) really is the best in the category. However, the major ones such as best park, best water park, best coaster etc. are really biased. Now, S:RoS and Voyage truly belong at #1, but the rest of the high rankings are just really messed up. Coasters like Phoenix and El Toro belong where they are(could be higher), but rides like Millennium Force, Beast, TTD, and Magnum are just there because they are in Ohio, at powerhouse parks, and because they iconic coasters for their size/importance.

While the poll is far from perfect, this year Amusement Today did make great strides in reaching out to coaster/amusement park enthusiasts who visit parks around the world.

Yes, a lot of the same winners from 2007 won again in 2008. I don't have last year's results but would be curious if the gaps are any closer. Does anyone have this info.

This year's ballot included more choices in certain categories but I still found myself writing in quite a few choices. In hopes that if a couple of people write in certain attractions/rides they may be included as a choice in future years.

My guess is that including more international travelers did not have an impact on winners in the end because the international experts spread their selections across less popular choices.

This is so barftastic. I don't know why they even bother with the expense of mailing out and tabulating ballots if they're just going to post the same results year after year.

Hey, let's not forget about the barftastic twits that keep voting for the same stuff every year. They need to get more ballots out to people that have been to more places that CP.

The schlitterbahn bias kind of bugs me. While I have not been to any of their parks, it seems that EVERYBODY on this site that visits one is unimpressed. Maybe its because they constantly get rewards and its over-hyped. If the world wasnt constantly telling us that Schlitterbahn rules, do you think we would actually enjoy it more?

Just...baffling I suppose with the recent surge in water-park popularity nation wide.

^:lolr: I see. Thanks for explaining that. I've been to Cedar Point a few times and I just don't see why so many people have a boner for it. Sure they have some cool rides and run at full capacity, but so does Hershey, Busch Parks, Universal and Disney. I found them to be nicer and cleaner too.

it seems that EVERYBODY on this site that visits one[schlitterbahn] is unimpressed.

I thought Schlitterbahn was pretty cool. I liked the idea of natural running water vs. chlorine loaded. It's better than anything in California. Raging Waters is the Magic Mountain of water parks, and Knott's Soak City is like someone's backyard and the owner happened to leave the hose running.
