Ok so some thoughts on the East Coast tour.

1 - I love love love the "mom and pop" parks vs the corporate run parks. The only exception was Busch Gardens as the scenery there was amazing!

2 - Therapy is needed after these trips. Seriously, become close to friends and then having them ripped away sucks. Thankfully, only a few short months till I see some of them again.

3 - If you see Tony, be sure you are being video taped. Seriously, 4 of us on the bus were having a personal convo to only find a video tape hiding away right on us!

4 - If you can't hold your bladder, please don't do a trip or get a prescription. Seriously, we had one person that used the bathroom as we pulled up the park with a restroom only 200 feet away.

5 - Don't make your roommate angry or they may not wake up you up for the bus.

6 - Cherish every freaking moment you have. You meet some amazing freaking people on these trips!

I tried to stop using the word "pop" on the trip since I just got some cofused looks haha

Not sure who else has a topple tower or condor in the immediate area. The park has a cool laid back atmosphere with all the open space. How awesome would a GCI woodie be using that terrain?

Hey, my friend ! I DO have a topple tower at my closest park (Bellewaerde), it's called El Volador, the theming is great and I believe it was the first OR the second ever built. Funny you mention GCI, since Bellewaerde is in desperate need for a new coaster, and its forest and animal environment would be a perfect background for a woodie... Dunno why but I have a feeling if we get a new coaster at that park, it WILL be a woodie

I should point out that all three of these refer to the same person. LOL

Usually when I hit the border I try switching my terminology; I've found that the same thing happens when you ask for a double-double at most places!

hahah or try accidentally asking for Poutine at a Burger King in the midwest

I think I'm the only Georgia native that calls it sodapop.

Most of us call everything "co-cola." It could be a Sprite or Sierra Piss, as one unnamed donkey so eloquently put it, and some idiot would still call it a co-cola.

Seriously... If you are from one of the "antebellum" states, walk up to a senior and ask them about co-cola. I think you'll be amused.

I actually never liked poutine (gravy, even!) until I tried some at work one day, so I wouldn't even have had to ask for one in the States let alone anywhere. Nowadays I'm hooked on A&W "gravy/cheese/fries".

By the way, you're all wrong. The correct word for soda/pop is "tonic." I call it "soda," though. Only because I like to sound intelligent like famous people.

Ya know, I had never heard it called tonic until I met my partner from Massachusetts. I always thought tonic was what you drank with gin!

Yeah, I always thought it was pop and then when I met folks outside of this general area, people used to look at me weird and laugh when I would say pop too!

Loved the pop/soda map of the US too...great job!

I wasn't angry at him...not exactly anyways...

I was simply following his instructions to "mind my own business."

Thank You to the Thunder Bus (Studio 54 Bus, Party Bus, Retard Bus...etc.) for the mug full of Kisses! I forgot to pop in and thank y'all in person. Sorry 'bout that!

^At least you didn't have to suffer through his Boulderdash comment and then later follow-up like Jenn and I did.

::Shudders::

Oh and somehow I need to organize all my photos in facebook and then tag everyone. This is going to take a while!

What was the Boulderdash comment? I can only imagine...

Speaking of Boulderdash, when it broke down shortly before ERT I was in the station with Axel, who didn't really understand what was going on. Things got a bit ugly when the wonderful ride op (no really, no sarcasm, that guy kicked a$$) started playing Simon Says and Guess How Much Change Is In My Pocket with the other employees and the patrons...Axel starts yelling, asking why we're playing games and not riding and so on. Needless to say, security showed up not long after. I calmed him down though...

We had quite a few people, Axel included that would remind me when ERT was starting a bit late by pointing to their watch while looking in my direction.

Here's my take on it...yes, it frustrates me too when a park doesn't have their act together and we end up walking into ERT 5 or 10 minutes late...

BUT - even still you are going to get WAY more rides in during that 45 or 50 minutes of ERT than if you just showed up to the park on your own without TPR.

Hersheypark was the worst day. I'm not sure why it took so long, but we ended up getting back to the two coasters at about 9:15. Even still I took 3 rides on Fahrenheit and 7 on Storm Runner in about 30 minutes.

And on top of that, since we were already in the park, when 10:00am hit you either had the choice of getting at least 1 or 2 more rides in on the ERT coasters before the public made their way there, or got a head start on a low capacity ride like Sidewinder or Roller Soaker.

It was always the same people who kept complaining and they would bring it up as if I had no idea what time it was.

OF COURSE I knew what time it was, and while it's great when parks have their act together like Knoebels, where we actually started ERT 10 mnutes EARLY and sometimes they do make up for parks that end up being late.

When all was said and done, we got about 25 to 27 hours of ERT on this trip. That's an AMAZING amount of ride time. I don't think anyone should have any reason to complain about a lack of 5 or 10 minutes here or there.

Has this ever happened to you?

Some random friends house in Alabama....

"Whatch you want to drink? You want water, sweet tea, coke?"

"I'll have a coke"

"What kind?"

"What kind of what?"

"What kind of coke"

"Coke"

"Yeah, but what kind?"

"Just coke"

"What kind of coke do you want?"

"Just a coke, that's it."

"We got sprite, pepsi, mountain dew, now which one do you want?"

"Oooohhhhh. Mountain Dew would be great."

Hey Abbot! Who's on first? 'Nuff said.

Wait, there were actually complaints about ERT? Dude, that's privilege, not a right.

^I LOVED the way you started laughing about that during the "this or that" game on the party bus... For that reason I'll always think about you when I order Sierra "Mist"

I have no idea why I thought that was so damned funny! After reading your post, I'm still giggling a little. LOL

Man... If I could add some of this stuff to a stand-up routine.

Especially when there us forum stalkers who (by no one's fault but their own) are sitting at home with zero ERT.

I would take an ERT session that starts 30 minutes late over zero ERT anyday!

AMEN Brutha!

Hell... I was just honored to be on the trip in the first place. If it came down to ERT vs. just being on the trip in the first place with all the neat folks, I damn sure know which I would take. ERT was glorious gravy.

It's amazing how many people got banned from this trip!

I hope not too many. I didn't have problems with anyone on the trip, and those few people that were acting up were creating more entertainment than harm.

Easily forgiving,

Luko

P.S. I'm still trying to get all my photos and videos in order, and will start my trip updates soon. In the meantime, you can check the photos in my gallery bellow.

ERT is beyond awesome! I think my level of excitement caused some alarm for a few participants, but I would just get more and more hyper! My Boulder Dash bruise has just about faded away though, which makes me sad. ERT is the only way to ride though, I am forever spoiled. Sure it is frustrating if they run a little behind, but that is only because we became even bigger spoiled brats as the trip continued. I even dropped the "here come the GP" kind of statements by the end of the trip. What a nerd!! ERT was a whole new experience for me and I will forever be grateful for the chance to have any ERT. (Coaster or otherwise! )

...the one particular participant did almost make me want to leave the trip a few times...and still makes me second guess some aspects of future trips. But now that I'm chasing the ERT dragon, I'm sure I'll have to get another fix by next year....or week...
