coasterdude5 Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Topic says it all. Do you wait or get out. For me it depends on wheter or not I've ridden it or if it's good. List all the coasters that have broken down and what you did. Iron Wolf, SfGam-Waited Batman, SfGam-Waited Revolution, Libertyland- Left Zippin Pippin, Libertyland- Left
CoasterFanatic Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 There are WAY too many factors that will determine what I do. In most cases I will leave, but not always.
freestylenut Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 If I'm pretty close to the front...or IN the front for that matter. I ain't going nowhere (has happened to me). If its a pretty deep line, I'm OUTTY!
FlyingScooter Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 It depends on how long i've already been waiting and how close i am to the front. Example: last fall at CP. We'd waited 45 mins for TTD and that included two breakdowns. We were fairly close and pretty determined we would ride it no matter what. (the park was dead that day, possibly due to a Browns game.)
CoasterCrazy Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 If it's a ride that I have never been on I will wait if I'm in or close to the station.
pgathriller Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 I wouldn't get out. I have been stuck on a couple of coasters and everytime I have been with a friend. If we get stuck at the top of a lift hill I start rocking back and forth and scare the people on the ride. They think there going to fall back and you should see there faces. If were stuck somewhere else, I will pretend we are still riding and start yelling and it gets the people annoyed and upset. I like being mean to the gusts! Other- If anyone ever gets a roll back on Kingda Ka, Top Thrill Dragster, etc, start rocking the train and look how freak out the guest look. It's hilarious!
Sir Clinksalot Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Depends on the ride. If it's a ride I have ridden and know that breakdowns are short, I will wait. Example, Superman:TE. If it's a ride I have not ridden then it comes down to how much I want to ride the ride and how long I have been waiting.
coasterdude5 Posted July 12, 2005 Author Posted July 12, 2005 ^^I meant get stuck in the line for the coaster. If I was in the coaster, I think it'd be a good idea to stay in!
pgathriller Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Sorry about that. I read the topic to quickly. I would probaly get out of line. I'm not going to stand and wait when there are more rides to ride. It's never happened to me in line, just while I was ridimg it.
Mr.Six Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 Yeah, I agree with the person who said there are way too many factors to determine this. -Is it a good ride? -Have I been on it before? -Do I have the time to do this and the other ride I want to do? -Is the line okay? Weather wise, if they have any AC on, or TV's with music videos etc. -How far I am in the line. What I usually do is wait for about 15 min. Seeing as many break downs can either get fixed in 10 minutes or 1 hour+. Michael"It also depends on the music in the station"Thomas PS: So lets hope they are playing it.
coasterdude5 Posted July 12, 2005 Author Posted July 12, 2005 ^^I use the 15 min. rule for most rides.
AllisonY2K Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 This has happened to me many times while in queue for Space Mountain at WDW. Usually I am way too far into the queue to want to hop out so I just wait it out. (QueueFanatic!) If I just got into the queue, I'll jump out and do something else and come back in an hour or two.
SharkTums Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 This is actually a plus to being an enthusiast and having some idea of the nature of the breakdown! I love when they use the speech that they'll be temporarily closed and half the people get out of line all pissed off when I can clearly see that they are "temp closed" because they're adding another train! So again, depending on how long the breakdown will be, and what ride it is determines if I wait or not. Elissa "waited in the pouring rain for a damn roller skater to open since I needed the credit!" Alvey
Angry_Gumball Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 For me, it really depends. Most of the time I wait because half of the people will leave. By the time those who choose to leave are gone, I'm right up in the station and the ride is up and running again. Actually, I haven't left a line due to a breakdown being as the line gets shorter anyway.
ebl Posted July 12, 2005 Posted July 12, 2005 I wait a bit, depending on how badly I want to ride. Most often, it's a simple problem that 10 or 15 minutes will fix. Eric
coasterdude5 Posted July 12, 2005 Author Posted July 12, 2005 Yeah, first you wait to see how many people get out of line, then you make your move!
Maynard_Hicks Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I just bitch and moan while I stay in line, and make everyone miserable. Well, not to that extent, but you catch my drift.
djrappa Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I'm with those that say it depends on how well you know the ride and or the breakdown. Tower of Terror here at DW much like S:TE has common breakdowns. Usually much of the que will leave where as I know that it's either an overshoot of the station or something on the track (read peacock) most of the time. I've had this on Xcel a few times too and you usually know whether it's going to open back up quickly or not. ...fun to watch the Ops have to start polishing the train too
bgwfreak Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 It depends on if I've been on the coaster yet more than anything I guess. Like if I was at MM for the first time and X broke down and I was half way through the line, I would just wait. But it's aggrivating when you decide to wait and 30 min later they tell you it's going to be down for the rest of the day.
coasterdude5 Posted July 13, 2005 Author Posted July 13, 2005 ^^That's happened a couple of times and it's so frustrating!
benzo41190 Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 sometimes, the people getting out of the line moves you up faster than then waiting itself. Once for Raging Bull it broke down and people were leaving like crazy. It would have been 30 mins. to get on but we got on in 20 mins.
ECZenith Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 It all depends on the announcement the ride ops say when the ride breaks down. They usually can tell if the ride will be down for a few minutes... or hours.
coasterlover420 Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I would stay and wait for everybody else to get out of line. That's what I did waiting for TTD.
Damien666 Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Okay, if I'm close to the station I can wait. Like this spring I was at IOA waiting for Dueling Dragons and it broke down while I was in the station. I waited and got on after a while. The same day my friends and I were waiting for Spiderman a 2nd time. But it was shut down so long they handed out free express passes so we went on Hulk instead.
DutchCoasterFan Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Depending on the ride, time, park and if I know the ride or I know what´s exactly broken down. [ Brakes, lifthill, ... ]
