AmyUD06 Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 Agreed. The "new generation" B&M OSTRs have vests.
JG-77 Posted April 18, 2019 Posted April 18, 2019 It looks like those OSTR's might be a bit wider than the normal ones, but it's tough to tell from photos alone.
Canobie Coaster Posted April 19, 2019 Posted April 19, 2019 Interesting if they are wider. I've never found any B&Ms rough except for the stand-ups, but I always chalked that up to the reduced clearance between the OSTR rather than the track itself. For example, Patriot was considerably smoother than Vortex at CGA.
steamedturtle Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 Looks like Firebird will have a soft opening May 3-5, with diamond and diamond elite members given "priority access" from 10-3, and other members able to ride from 3p on.
MisterBrow Posted April 21, 2019 Posted April 21, 2019 We were in today. We noticed that the Firebird gift shop has been painted and renamed Inferno Gifts and they have added phone / sunglasses zipper bags to the Wild One cars. Two stations running on Batman. There are now some shaved ice stands that claim they will have churros.
Hershey_flags Posted April 24, 2019 Posted April 24, 2019 Was sent a few photos from a friend of mine that show off the amazing color scheme of Firebird.
Hershey_flags Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Employees have a Firebird event today. Next weekend is for members, then hopefully the grand opening is the following week after that.
Hershey_flags Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 The new restroom is still closed. They should have an exclusive membership day for the opening of that too lol.
DoinItForTheFame Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 The new restroom is still closed. They should have an exclusive membership day for the opening of that too lol. I thought the restrooms were exclusively for super ultra black diamond plus members the first season?? And then all the following seasons the “peasants” could them use them? Gosh. I think there are going to be some really unhappy members when they learn they don’t get this exclusive perk they were expecting.
MisterBrow Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 The multi-tiered membership thing is out of hand. The first two rows of the stunt arena are now reserved for like Diamond elite or something. With the new paint scheme Firebird stands out from the parking lot. I like how it matches Fireball looking from Mardi Gras. Once the new toilet opens, they get those plants in the ground, and if Firebird rides half way decent... I think they finally figured out how to meet our low expectations.
Hershey_flags Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 Talked to one of the employees yesterday who rode Firebird last night. He said it is a major improvement from Apocalypse, but front row is not good. The employee stated that he was starting to lose hope until he rode rows 4,5, and 6 (6th row being the best). The front row is the roughest and has the least amount of forces. He ranks it 4th or 5th best coaster in the park.

They already met my expectations when they put Johnny Rockets on the dining plan, added Macho Nacho, and put a restroom 50 feet away from Superman. Firebird is just some icing on the cake.
DarkRideNick Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Has anybody ate at the new Macho Nacho? How does it compare to SFGAdv's OG version?
Hershey_flags Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Not sure if you guys heard this, but the fire effect on Firebird is enclosed in a small volcano structure that has a hole at the top. Also, they did a very solid job on the landscaping around the ride to make it look a lot less apocalyptic.

bert425 Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 the fire pots on Wonder Woman (at SFFT) were 1/2 down not even 2 weeks after open, and all down less than a month. *but* last visit all 6 were working again. . so who knows? they might keep up on it.
Highridin Posted April 29, 2019 Posted April 29, 2019 Apocalypse's fire effect worked for years. Last year, not so much. Though, they knew that it was going to be closed soon too.
