  1. Looks like a great steel coaster to me. Also looks pretty different from other RMCs. The focus is more on speed and twisty elements than it is on nonstop airtime.
  2. I might just have been lucky, but in the last two years I'd say, I've been to La Ronde several times where the lines were fairly manageable even on days where I expected crowds. However it is probable that there will be more people on a Wednesday, especially in the evening, as it's a fireworks day. It is also true that if you go right at the opening you will have to wait in line for a while to get in the park, so unless you're pressed by time or really want to spend a lot of time at the park I would suggest you to wait one or two hours after opening to go. If you have at least a Platinum membership you don't have to wait in that line as you can go through the membership entrance. I learned this when I went in May, and it REALLY helps as you get a good couple hours of no lines before all the regular pass holders and ticket people come in. I visited earlier this season and queued up in the absolutely massive regular line, until I noticed there was a membership entrance that didn't have a single soul in it. So that definitely saved a lot of time. I just have the regular gold+ membership, and they let me through.
  3. All of that plus the faucets don't come out far enough so you have to like touch the sink to even get the water on your hands. Definitely weird.
  4. Thanks. My actual 400 was Cosmic Coaster at Worlds of Fun. Shameless, I know.
  5. After a 9 day long, 6 park trip through the Mid West that got me over 400, the most recent coaster in my count is Underground at Adventureland.
  6. Oh my. How dare you! I got 10 laps on Voyage over the weekend after having not ridden it in 11 years. And it was simply incredible. It goes straight back up into my top 10, and it's my #1 wooden coaster now. The double downs, the tunnels, the length, the setting, the out of control feeling without being rough. The front is fun, but the back of the train is where it's at.
  7. My top 25: Although, as I look at it now, there's already changes I would make. That's just how this goes. I have to say I'm super impressed in how the results turned out. I think this method / algorithm works well. Steel Vengeance RMC Intimidator 305 Intamin Twisted Colossus RMC Skyrush Intamin El Toro Intamin Maverick Intamin Twisted Timbers RMC New Texas Giant RMC Mako B&M Voyage GG Leviathan B&M Mystic Timbers GCI Millennium Force Intamin Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts Ravine Flyer II GG Diamondback B&M Superman the Ride Intamin GhostRider CCI Montu B&M Tatsu B&M Kumba B&M Storm Runner Manta B&M Raptor B&M Phantom's Revenge Morgan
  8. Looks like Firebird will have a soft opening May 3-5, with diamond and diamond elite members given "priority access" from 10-3, and other members able to ride from 3p on.
  9. This. A thousand million times this. There could at the very minimum be a zippered shorts or jacket exception. But parks will often simply cater to the lowest common denominator.
  10. Interesting that Kings Dominion is trying hard to accommodate people who want their phones in line.
  11. I don't find Dominator to be rough at all. I usually keep my hands on the arm rests, and it's perfectly smooth and rerideable.
  12. I'm not familiar with this rumor, but when I walked by I didn't notice anything going on there.
  13. The top of the sign, the "fire bird," if you will, is outfitted with LEDs. Also, according to someone on the internet, the yellow of the track's spine is getting another coat of paint, which will be a darker yellow.
  14. Checked out passholder preview yesterday. It was quite busy and an absolutely gorgeous day. Here are some shots of the future Parched Pig. Looking forward to hanging out there.
  15. https://www.kingsdominion.com/blog/2019/renovating-an-icon Kings Dominion just announced they repainted the Eiffel Tower and renovated the surrounding area over the off season. They also said they are preparing the Eiffel Tower structure for a surprise TBA. Wonder what that could be..
  16. Are you kidding me?!?! SO HAPPY. edit: I feel like how I felt when they announced "gourmet" mac and cheese, but times 100. This is literally the one and only thing this park was missing.
  17. I'm stuck. BGT is advertising this as "North America's tallest hybrid, and the fastest, steepest hybrid coaster in the world." What hybrid outside of NA is or will be taller??
  18. Unfortunately, I think that bar was only temporary. KD could definitely improve their alcohol offerings. I would just absolutely love if there was an indoor spot with an actual bar that served drafts for any amount under $10.
  19. While I suspect that that Firehawk was removed primarily because it was a maintenance nuisance, the theory that they removed it because its replacement will be a flyer is an intriguing one. I'd still bet on a giga, but am not opposed to a flyer at all, especially if it's anything like Tatsu, Manta, Starry Sky Ripper or Flying Dinosaur. Although I think flyers are best when they interact with the terrain or are themed heavily, which wouldn't be the case at KI.
  20. Wow, a lot of us were at the park yesterday. I was there too. The weather was perfect, and the crowds were very light. As others have said, X2 was a walk on or 1 train wait in the middle of the day, which was surprising. Tatsu and TC were like 10-20mins throughout the day. I took a 3 hour break in the middle of the day to watch the pro bowl at the sports bar and have a few beers, and still got 20 laps in.
  21. 1. Name 3 of your favorite roller coasters, but not your top 3. Great Bear (coaster that got me into coasters, and it's still great), Superman: RoS (coaster I've ridden the most), Nitro (Tonssss of rides also, and great memories) 2. About how many different parks did you visit in 2018? 25? 3. Which 2018 park visit was your favorite? A solo visit to KD in April when the park was dead. Total bliss and freedom. What a cathartic day. 4. Your favorite 2018 park addition (ride, food, show, etc)? Gotta be Steel Vengeance 5. What ride exceeded your expectations the most in 2018? Wonder Mountain Guardian and Rip Ride Rockit. I had zero expectations for the first, and it was super fun. I had low expectations for the latter, and it was not bad at all! 6. Best meal/food at a park in 2018? Didn’t really have one. The Buffalo Chicken Sandwich at Knott’s was good. Also some of the Mac and Cheese bowls at KD were not bad. I'd also include a boozy lunch at the Friday's in CP EDIT:I totally forgot about craft beer and food festival at SWO in Nov!! That was the best. 7. What was your favorite new coaster of 2018 NOT made by RMC or Larson? New for me, or new for 2018? New for 2018, I’d go with Tantrum, I guess. New for me would be Skyrush 8. Name one park you will definitely visit in 2019. Adventureland 9. Best ride themed to a bird? It isn’t yet, but it most certainly will be… FIREBIRD COASTER 10. Lamest ride/coaster you rode in 2018? Time Warp. Leading candidate for worst coaster ever. 11. What roller coaster currently sits at the top of your bucketlist? (degree of difficulty: NOT a new-for-2019 ride) Nemesis 12. What new-for-2019 ride or coaster are you most looking forward to? Steel Curtain probably 13. Name the first totally middle-of-the-road (not bad/not great) park that comes to mind. Dorney Park 14. You're in Orlando and magically have a 1-hour ERT session on 1 coaster of your choice at any park in the city. You choose... Gringott’s would get old after 15 minutes, but Mako never would. 15. Holiday In The Park vs. Winterfest. Who reigns supreme? Coasters running > less coasters running 16. Mystic Timbers mystery shed or Wicker Man fire infusion? FYRE 17. Which Six Flags have you been to most recently? America 18. Intamin or Schwarzkopf? You may only choose one. I’d miss the hell out of both, but I’d miss Intamin more. 19. Battle of Kings Coasters: Island or Dominion? Pick one. KD. Barely. 20. What was the longest you waited for a ride/coaster in 2018? 90 mins for Steel Vengeance 21. What roller coaster have you ridden more than any other? Ever? Almost certainly Superman: RoS at SFA, with hundreds of laps. In 2018 it was I305 with an even 40 laps. 22. Best drop tower under 150 feet?XScream at Waldameer 23. Maverick or Millennium Force? (If you haven't been to CP, pick what you want to ride more) Maverick 24. Log flumes or sky rides? You can only choose one. Sky Rides. I’m a bitch, and don’t like getting wet. 25. What are 3 things you enjoying doing at your home park other than riding rides? Leaving to go to the bar. (SFA) 26. What is your second favorite Cedar Fair park and why? Cedar Point, because Kings Dominion is way more accessible to me. 27. What is your home park and give us two good reasons why we should pay it a visit. SFA, and you shouldn’t. Just kidding; Superman & Wild One 28. Launch or Lift? Everything else being equal, then launch. 29. Did you buy fast pass at all in 2018? Just one at Canada’s Wonderland, and it was soooo worth it. 30. What is your least favorite wooden coaster? Predator. 31. Disney fanboys: cool or cult? Depends. Leaning towards cult though. 32. Best Batman themed ride? BTR 33. Name something that tend to take home from parks that you didn't bring with you. Blisters 34. Best wooden coaster over 110 feet tall? (rcdb will help you) The Bull 35. Have you ever been hit with something (loose change/a tree/vomit/etc) while riding something? A long time ago, I got hit with a plastic skull on the haunted hay ride at SFA 36. Skywarps: credits or no? State your case. If it rolls and coasts, it’s a roller coaster, and therefor a credit. It definitely rolls, but I’m not sure if it coasts. So I can’t answer. 37. Turkey legs: nah or yaaaaassssss? Nah 38. What is the most recent B&M that you rode? KUMBA 39. You can eat nothing but corn dogs, churros or funnel cake for the next 48 hours, which do you choose? Corn Dogs is the only option that’s food. The other two would probably make me sick before I even began to feel full.
  22. Banshee had my least favorite B&M vest restraints of any that I'd been on, because whatever smooth plastic-like material covered them had worn off, so they kinda stuck to your shirt and didn't allow any movement. Others, like on Gatekeeper or Valravn were just fine though.
  23. My defunct list...
