Keep in mind this is still the soft opening. They opened the 15th planning on only being at best 85% operational. The grand opening isn't until May, but they have done a lot in just the last couple of weeks. Thanks for the great TR! I really enjoyed your photos and captions. I can tell a day at a park would be entertaining with you!

(No love for the water guitar though? I thought it was cool...I didn't realize at first it was playing the notes of an actual song...once you hear the first few chords though it was very cool!)

I also found the staff to be great. They all seemed very excited about what they are apart of...maybe not fully aware of everything. A girl staff member was telling us about Led Z..."and he actually re-recorded the song for us to better match the ride..." Maybe a little rock history class along with basic park training!

Nice trip report, although I must say I am not really impressed with the park so far. I'll wait till I see more trip reports with the whole park opened up, but at this point I'm a tad disappointed.

Geesh what more were you expecting from a park being built from the ground up and not covered by a theme park chain?

I mean this sneak peek was MUCH more promising than that Wild West Park that open then closed in like 3 days lol!

Wild West World was backed by one man in the middle of Kansas. Hard Rock Park is backed by one of the most successful restaurant (they do hotels too ,right?) chains in the country in a very popular tourist destination. so, excuse me if I expect a little more then Six Flags quality theming from such a large corporation .

Actually...Hard rock is a franchise, say like mcdonalds. Now if someone wants to build a park themed to hardrock they pay for the rights to do so to hard rock franchise. Hard rock doesnt own this park. I think it is a private group that owns and runs the park. The hard rock franchise is owned by Seminole Tribe of Florida. That is also the reason why the Hard Rock hotels are owned by different chains. For instance the one at universal studios is owned and ran by loews hotels.

I'm looking forward to visiting Hard Rock Park, myself--the current crop of TRs about it has piqued my interest a bit more.

The curious "Life in the Fast Lane" mine-train coaster is a bit odd. Forgive me if I being obtuse, but wasn't this supposed to be "Midnight Rider" originally?

You are correct and some of the theming is still left like, say the motorcycle out front the entrance and the fire shooter at the end of the ride resembles some of the original art work of the coaster when it was midnight rider. I think they should have kept that theme and has fog machines operating at night under the coaster!

Those were some amazing pictures and this park looks great. I'm really impressed how much theming is in this park. The theming really looks a lot like Universal or even IOA. Was the night show pretty good? Looks like there were lots of water effects blendid in with fireworks. Thanks for this trip report as this has gotten me to possibly make a trip out there sometime this year.

Great pictures!

I just figured it out...it looks A LOT like Jazzland!

Kind of cheap but nice theming, decent rides and crappy portable rides, setting on the lake, music themed. Yup.

Thanks Elissa! That makes me miss SFNO/Jazzland even more!

HRP even has the same Airboat ride Jazzland/SFNO had!

Looking at various TR's I was wondering if anyone thinks the rest of the lagoon will be fenced in. It looks to me like the wrong person at the wrong time could be in the zone of some fireworks at night. They go around the perimeter of the lake and just seem to be real close......If only good old GL got bought by Hard Rock and became park #2. My best wishes for my home park! Come May we will all know.

^ yeah you are lol. The park feels nothing like that. Like I mention the british section is done the best in my opinion. There really isnt a "weak" area of the park it's just alot of us are not theme park novice and wanted more out of this park but have to take a step back and realize the park has only been open for 8 hours so i'm gonna give them a season or 3 and see what comes of it. I mean look at IOA. Came real strong and just now adding a major attraction lol!

Thank you for the PTR and comments.

Like Elissa said, it looks very much like the defunct Jazzland/SFNO. However, it is nice to see actual trees planted there.

I think I'll put off heading there this year and give it a year to mature. But I wouldn't wait too long, as I personally don't think the park will last.

Before someone jumps down my throat, think about this: if the demographics couldn't support and keep MBP open... We'll see. I hope I'm wrong.

^ I see what you are saying but the pavilion was open forever and a day lol. I personally think B&C realized HRP was more than just a rumor and decided to go ahead and get rid of the pavilion before they bankrupt.

I don't know if I'm judging them too hard, but the park looks like a loose collection of new strip malls assorted around a lake, with roller coasters in the background. Nothing too special.

I thought the exact same thing. Decent theming around some malls, and some rides plopped down here and here.

Hopefully they plan to enclose the Magic Mushroom Garden and the Flitzer for the 2009 season. The Magic Mushroom Garden is pointless during the day, and the Flitzer is just an eyesore out in the open like that.

First of all, wonderful pictures! I was so curious as to what the new Hard Rock Park would look like, and now I have a much better idea! I LOVE the station for Led Zepplin! It's great! The park does seem a little bare right now, but perhaps in a couple of months when the tress grow in, it'll look more beautiful. I would love to visit this place!
