Was watching some old videos today and I completely forgot about the best haunted house.. ever!

Dracula's Castle at Wildwood, NJ. It's been gone for a few years but I remember growing up that thing used to scare the crap out of everyone. It had the usual cheap haunted house effects but also real people that snuck around the inside of the castle and would jump out from anywhere. It was great.. never the same ride twice. They also had a walk thru part but I never did that.

Then of course.. there's Knoebels. One of the few haunted houses that you almost feel lost inside..

The closest thing I've ever done to a haunted house was....The Haunted Mansion at Disneyland or doing the mazes at Knott's haunt. One scares the hell out of me more. Guess which one!

I think Europa Park had a pretty good one if I remember correctly...very much a Disney ripoff, but that made it quite interesting!

Best "haunted" ride - The Haunted Mansion, of course.

Best walkthrough - Scream House from HHN12. They recently posted the creepy-as-hell queue video for this classic at HHNVault.com.

around halloween each year a place in Nashville, TN has a haunted house called the haunted prison. I heard it is great, but I don't particularly like haunted houses, so I've never been to it.

I haven't been in too many haunted houses...but I really like Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. I guess the only other ride one I've been on was at SCBB, which was alright (I get scared very easily, and I thought it was scary lol). I've been through one walk through haunted house at Fright Fest (I think it was called Nightmares) and it scared me crapless. I was 8 at the time...and it really scarred me haha. Now whenever we go to Fright Fest, we just stick with the scare zones.

I like halloween events/ haunted houses almost as much as coasters and thrill rides. I've been thru...

All of HHN XI, XIII, XIV, XV, Basically every haunted house in New England around October. So far the best is Pitch Black from XI.

I just came back from Europe and there is a coll haunted train in Parc Asterix - it is called Transdemonium and this is so so cool. Have anyone been there ?

I've found that non-amusement park haunted houses are far superior in most cases.

The one exception is years ago when Splashtown (pre- 6F) here in Houston had one. It was reasonably well done.

40 minutes?! I would die lol! How long do the ones at Fright Fest take...like 5 minutes? I haven't been in one for years, but I remember being scared out of my mind and it seemed to last for a long time!

When it was a haunted house:

Alton Towers's Haunted House. Really scary at the time and was very long. Espcially loved the queu line witht he girl in the doll house and the face in the fire. . . . not to mention the whole room was skew-wif!

i think my avatar says it all though.

"Nineteen Years Later.."

I decided to find a thread with Haunts that are available during "The Time of Boo", and which ones you/we prefer over others (incl price, add-ons, etc.) I'll start by saying a bit, about our Fright Nights at Playland/PNE here in Vancouver. Oct.03-31. There are seven haunts to go through. FYI, during our PNE (just over now), Playland includes the Haunted Mansion and the Doll Keepers Factory, for an up charge of course. But that's still great that guests to the PNE can experience at least two of the Haunts already there, and open.

With add-ons (Early Entry to it, Express Pass - prices depending on night's visit) it comes to around $120 Cdn for the one night. So in US$ .... $87? Is this a good deal, especially for you Haunt Regulars in the States? Just curious.

If that includes park admission, $87 sounds a little low for a park haunt with a skip-the-line for the haunted attractions, a tiny bit high if no admission.  I've paid $85 for a Fright Lane pass at Cedar Point before haha.

It's a little high for an independent haunt, even with skip-the-line, but not too much higher (typically like $60-70 max for an independent haunt with 4 attractions and skip-the-line).

I just checked the site for general admission. Two rates exist, with the higher price on the weekends. That said. non-weekend entry is $49 advance; $59 at the gate. For the weekends it's $59 advance; $69 at the gate. And again, this is in CDN $.
