Wow, I have learned alot about relationships this past month or so. Eight years with my partner and I decided to break it off. Why, thought I was so unhappy. See someone else..only to realize that the new person would never be the one I truly cared for. No where treated the way I wanted to be. I don't appreciate being yelled at, especially when I have done nothing to to deserve it. Yup, the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. I am truly glad I realized this when I did. It takes a long look in to realize that you don't know what you got until its gone!!!

Frankly, I'm really enjoying being single.

And I'm not saying this in the sense of, "I'm just saying I enjoy being single because secretly I hope I'll meet someone/someone asks me out because I'm lonely and I don't want to admit it." That's how I was in high school...

But really? I have no use for dating at the moment, and when I read threads like this (or hear my friends bitch about relationship issues) I'm really really REALLY glad to be single. I'm planning to only be here for another year to get my AA and then transfer down somewhere in SoCal. Maybe after I move I'd be more willing to flirt with dating again (pun intended). But then again, maybe not.

Plus, there are very few guys I find attractive here in this small town. Besides, I have enough kitty love to last me for a while. And I'm enjoying spending time with my family and my girl friends.

The single life: I recommend it.

Haha I'm surprisingly overwhelmed with trying to figure out how I'm going to divide my time between so many women. I'm usually used to being stuck with whatever's in the Sears catalog, but gosh I'm getting women all over the place wanting to hang out with me!

(Points to whoever knows the Sears reference!)

Yeah, so basically this thread has so far become a haven for all sorts of teenage venting and exaggerating, anybody perhaps have anything positive to add????

Just hit 9 years for us! So far so good (in other words, Amy hasn't gotten smart and left me yet!). This thread is such a fun one to read.

Must be your humility.

Seriously grrt, chill out, just because you're well liked by the opposite sex doesn't mean they all are interested in you. World doesn't work like that I'm afraid.

Haha, I'm not as stupid as you think... You'll probably have a hard time decoding my sarcasm and exaggerations here... Most do. (I have a very dry sense of humor!) Clearly not all women are interested in me. I'm not a little middle schooler yah know!

Well, I finally got around to revealing my long-distance girlfriend to my parents last week. I told them how much she means to me, that we've stayed so close over the past year, so there's no reason we can't stay even closer despite the 300 mile distance.

How did my mom react?

"Don't let this stop you from considering finding a girlfriend that lives around here."

Relationship?!? Ha, are you kidding? Why do you think I spend so much time skulking around this forum?!

...

Still lookng for the first one, actually. 19 and a half years old. Don't worry, I'll get around to one eventually. Based off my sister's relationship, though, it seems like a LOT of trouble. I'm busy enough as it is right now without a girlfriend.

My dad did that to me under similar circumstances (and it wasn't even as long of a distance as you have to deal with). Wanted to punch the SOB in the face, but I just ignored it, and eventually he gave up. I'd suggest just waiting it out, they'll come to terms with it sooner or later.

It's weird, you could give me all the friends, money, roller coasters to ride in the world....but it's that one girl that you're mood completely depends on no matter what

Funny the way that is, really. Never changes as long as life goes.

After 19 years of crushing loneliness, I met a guy back in March who I instantly fell in love with. He wasn't out as gay at the time, but he says I helped him discover these feelings about men that he always had but suppressed. Likewise, he fell in love with me the first time he saw me... 3 months down the line we're still absolutely freaking crazy about eachother, it's an amazing feeling that keeps getting stronger and stronger!

I live in a rural area with around 300 residents and met this guy at Alton Towers, completely randomly. If that doesn't give you faith that there is someone for everyone, then I don't know what will! How mushy is that!

Might as well revive this thread with some good news.

Remember my long-distance girlfriend? Well, things have been working out incredibly well, even though she had to move to Michigan for college. We're closer than ever now, and to make things even better... She's coming to visit in two days.

She'll be staying at my house for three nights, plenty long enough to make up for not seeing each other for a year and a half. And I found out the other day that after she leaves to see her family in So-Cal, she'll be back a week later with her sister's family for two days!

So, yeah, love is good for me right now.

Not all fo them get better once they get out of high school, ask me how I know

Oh out of high school I'll get an entirely new set of problems to deal with! Joy! Hopefully they're not by cause of meddling friends or other nonsense... I always have the worst luck. I swear we're all better off with nothing but coaster porn and donkeys...

Welp.. Ashley and I broke up a few days ago.

The age/experience difference was just too much for us. But we're both acknowledging that splitting up is the best option for both of us right now. The breakup went really smoothly, and we vowed to stay really good friends.

And if later on we decide that it's the right thing to do, we're open to the idea of getting back together. It's unlikely, but we're considering it.
