Mark your calendars.....June 3rd Ariel's undersea Adventure will be open.

ANAHEIM (Feb. 25, 2011) – As families prepare for their 2011 summer vacations, the Disneyland Resort announces grand opening dates for several, highly-anticipated new attractions and family experiences.

The all-new “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade” will bring a new beat to the streets of Disneyland Park beginning May 27. Also at Disneyland park, guests will once again visit galaxies far, far away with the opening of Star Tours, The Adventures Continue, on June 3.

At Disney California Adventure Park, the expansion continues with the June 3 grand opening of The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. Guests will also find some exciting changes at the Disneyland Hotel this spring.

May 27 premiere: All new for 2011, “Mickey’s Soundsational Parade” officially steps off for Memorial Day weekend with an explosive musical score, thrilling rhythms and bold percussion that will have guests dancing to many of their favorite Disney tunes. Live musicians will amplify the fun, and colorful dancers will entertain guests to the beat of a syncopated drum line, twinkling cymbals and steel drums. Mickey Mouse and his pals will be jamming like never before, riding down Main Street, U.S.A. on whimsical float units.

The Clam Shells have arrived to DCA! Disney Parks Blog

It’s always fun to see the evolution of an attraction. From renderings to construction to opening day – every step is Disney magic at its best. In the past, we couldn’t really take you along for the ride. But now, the Disney Parks Blog gives you a backstage pass. In this video, shot at Disney California Adventure park, we once again take you behind the scenes of The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure. By the way, the idea of a Little Mermaid attraction has been bantered about since the movie opened back in 1989.

Recently, the Mermaid ride vehicles – which look like clam shells – were installed on the attraction at Paradise Pier. There are more than 100 clam shells. Some are green. Some are orange. And some are marigold. They each hold 2-3 people. (The ADA vehicles are “chariots” and they’re styled after carved chariot seats from carousels of the early 20th century.)

This video is from the recent installation. It reminds me of the holidays as one of the clam shells is unwrapped before being installed in the attraction. I am happy to be able to share this behind-the-scenes peek with you as we take the journey from creation, construction and grand opening of this amazing attraction. Enjoy!

I was at the park today, and vertical construction has begun on the main entrance to DCA. From looking at the height of the steel, I could almost believe even without it being finished yet, that the entrance will indeed resemble the one like at WDW's Hollywood Studios. Sorry, I didn't take any pictures guys but it seems like the are really speeding forward on this thing already.

Here is todays update from DCA, a lot of work is happening and things are changing every day!

1204971114_vfYgU-X3.jpg.e5f1d167d79f41d21905ce664be11a54.jpg

Vertical construction has begun on the new entrance to the park. It will closely resemble the entrance to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

1204972556_cnruH-X3.jpg.e2aba0baebaef7c52eb61fae10761262.jpg

The different between them is Florida's has ticket booths integrated into the design, and ours will just be turnstiles along with some other small changes.

Mermaid from across the Bay.

1204985603_JDTV2-X3.jpg.a01dc1763c2183172fd1a155d67df3f0.jpg

The front arch is getting finished up!

1204974884_mkCSP-X3.jpg.3dffa3f9f3861294f2143db340f55c27.jpg

More paint! More layers! More detail!

1204976471_XjvdJ-X3.jpg.63c4670adffc533cf14921e5ffba5c16.jpg

So this happened too. Its a snazzy new meet-n-greet for Mickey & Duffy.

1204976852_XXNom-X3.jpg.3df3a628cf61327775ec4b23dae4540e.jpg

Its pretty nice with the trees and all the different colors. Its fits the theme really well.

1204984359_NLvVj-X3.jpg.012ab6fafdb21494a9388e4cb8ccc452.jpg

The "Lush" park is coming along as well. You cant see it on this picture, but there are more trees being added up against the coaster, where benches used to be to watch the Maliboomer.

1204978542_cAd8h-X3.jpg.38dd956cafb92392c670cf0a5149a079.jpg

Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta is coming alone great! Every week a lot more detail comes out. I really am excited for this new area of the park.

1204989906_Bpste-X3.jpg.949751045824d1880e9533297df9a679.jpg

The metal being put up in this picture is for the seating area along the parade route. It should share the same style of architecture that the Silly Symphony Swings uses.

1204979674_wB4NY-X3.jpg.0f21e4aa26b8d86d949607f7dbb8af59.jpg

Not much visible change to Goofy's Sky School, but below another structure has popped up.

1204989820_rtDF2-X3.jpg.82c59abb77de84e74111190fa8131cbd.jpg

Again, very ornate and same style. This is more covered seating for the soon to open restaurants in that corner.

1204973717_hLq3j-X3.jpg.c549a66f190b27eb1ddf1d5f152d7a7b.jpg

More work here too.

Almost all of the "Chips" are in place.

Concrete is creeping around.

1204980488_hw3Wu-X3.jpg.b7be783687ff07213d26f58ab28620bc.jpg

And the paint is hot on its tail!

I know it's just like Disney to only theme what the guests will see..... but are there any plans to at least 'cover up' the backside of that new mountain?

You mustn't have seen Everest have you?

They usually try and theme to the tree heights, if they have the money for it...

Awesome awesome awesome. Ursula is so detailed and well done its insane... despite the fact that about 90% of people probably wont notice the moving lips and the other things that make "her" so advanced. To me, this project marks a new era in the Disney dark ride. I mean, sure, Toy Story and Monsters are both pretty cool(I really dont get all the monsters hate) but this seems more reminiscent of the Fantasyland dark rides than the other 2 dark rides in the park. Also, the audio animatronics and effects are seemingly the most advanced Disney has made in a very long time... In fact, since the Yetis down, Ursula may actually be Disney's most advanced animatronic.

As cool as this ride is turning out, I am hoping Radiator Springs Racers will blow it out of the water (no pun intended). I am hoping with all these new advanced animatronic movements, we will see the characters in RSRs move more than just their mouths and eyes. With all this new articulating torso technology, maybe we will really see the Cars come alive with that same cartoonieness that they did in the film.

Are the two Cars Land flat rides being installed, in-house creations?

I have a feeling that the animatronics in Carsland will be amazing. I agree with you, as good as these are, Carsland has to be great!

Luigi's Flying Tires is a WDI recreation of the old Flying Saucer Ride that used to be in Disneyland.

As for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree, I'm not too sure. Its the "Same" ride system as the Zamperla's Demolition Derby (which is the same as Lady Bug Boogiein Bugs Land) just on a much bigger scale and it does a few different things (swings out like a whip ride) So it could be either really, it looks like a collaboration with Disney building a better ride off an existing ride technology.

1219604778_ip9LG-X3.jpg.06204b412425a343d85c16f136fa180c.jpg

The red tarps are welder covers so they can work with other people around.

1219603969_ASWjx-X3.jpg.d2d5021875445a1407f5445d75f45dcf.jpg

The Carthay Circle Theater is starting to go up too!

1219602118_kaKck-X3.jpg.d6696993b7cddc77439e52280b48e6a2.jpg

And the new Disney Theater has all of its sinage up now as well.

1219597631_oYZKF-X3.jpg.45bcb31c478d4108fee31a2fcb75efb4.jpg

The extended queue for Mermaid has trees now!

1219595952_n64Rc-X3.jpg.9ee0ed7c6298383bdbfa70ab2390dc17.jpg

This is almost done. They've added some wave things, lol.

1219596601_dttYW-X3.jpg.eb190df87f10fd707a5787ff442f335a.jpg

And the Palace of Fine Arts Rotunda is getting its paint job to match the rest of mermaid. I like the new colors.

1219600895_jQRfm-X3.jpg.e63fc6a406018a5132265c36ab759743.jpg

Here is the concept for the building, looks pretty close to what we're getting.

1219595089_Pbbsf-X3.jpg.616d3af790c1ebfd4e4215e081a73387.jpg

Over next to the Swings, they have moved forward with the "Beer Cart" in the foreground of this picture.

No real change here.

1219576562_CASKf-X3.jpg.07dcbe6e3b56dae340f0d2a49b94664e.jpg

Goofy's Sky School's entrance is looking interesting...

Today these planters are red. lol

1219578469_MkHZY-X3.jpg.2c4995476f72ac27670f99d2f0b59245.jpg

This seems to be moving a lot slower then everything else.

1219579486_9Xv7o-X3.jpg.1d68649de5285b1d42c5f31bd77f7e4c.jpg

But they have the time to take, it isnt impeding any guests like the other areas are.

1219579600_cFxBn-X3.jpg.4b4b2c9e4eae2ac1b1fe0fb234c78738.jpg

Looks like they have cleared all the stuff here for prep to finish the base of this.

1219580429_DuTSY-X3.jpg.6cf3d1b0b12f5cef0e3723ac09ca8e19.jpg

This doesn't seem to have changed much at all recently. They are probably working a lot around the corner where we cant see.

1219589899_eKYzS-X3.jpg.47822a7ed473d5404d56e3f36d8a9f26.jpg

Three phases of rock work here. Bare Chips, then covered with cement, then painted.

1219598106_JQMk7-X3.jpg.ae66762c754db7567f81593281ed7b98.jpg

Is this done yet! Sheesh!

1219620326_sTdgL-X3.jpg.da636bd0d09ddad508e08f2ae4ade61a.jpg

And the moment you've all been waiting for, the back side of Cars Land! WooHoo! This picture really shows how massive this is though.

1219585480_PGYh7-X3.jpg.183a344de62db21aae8f8da94e41e78b.jpg

And the last thing, a new Meet-N-Greet has been made for Mater and Lightning.

1219598462_R6PzV-X3.jpg.768788e64cd6ae21c9df101304bb5535.jpg

It actually looks pretty cool, and its advertising Cars 2 thats coming out this year. Its in the perfect spot too.

1219599594_jtVLs-X3.jpg.089ad2f32ef4debc313206810c8d1feb.jpg

Pretty creative, I like it! And a lot more people will see it rather then the old one over in Condor Flats.

While the park is still open, too! Plus, it seems now with the one feeder line that entering the park has become EASIER than it was before they shut down half the turnstiles. Hopefully it can stay the same once they have to route everyone back behind Soarin' when the street really starts to get torn up.
