There is a policy that all Cedar Fair roller Coasters have seatbelts.

If such a policy actually existed then the ride would have opened with seatbelts.

Posted

Guys, arguing over a policy that does, or does not exist is silly. The ride doesn't have seat belts. What's the point of even bringing it up? Talking hypotheticals on how they will add them within five years is goofy.

I think everyone missed the joke about seatbelts on park benches, CedarFair likes to neuter their rides with seatbelts.

It is a valid fear that Behemoth altough exempt now will be ruined later.

Looking at the trim brakes, I am almost certain there will be a time when they are all used and the ride will be viewed as being a shadow of its former self.

Until then ride it and enjoy will it lasts.

Whatever you say. Cause your opinion is always right.

For those who have ridden Behemoth and other B&M hypers, did the Behemoth seats seem smaller than the usual B&M hyper seats? There seemed to be a lot of people having trouble fitting properly that wouldn't have any problems on the other B&M hypers.

Posted

While I have not been on other B&M's, I do notice that quite a few people have been having trouble with the restraints (and they shouldn't be).

Posted

I had absolutely no problem with the restraints (even with my wallet and camera stuffed in my pant pockets) and if anything found if really spacious. I didn't notice any difference between the seats on Behemoth and what I remember from Raging Bull last summer.

It's a valid point that they may indeed add seatbelts to Behemoth at some point. Cedar Fair loves to slap seatbelts on everything. If they do add them though hopefully it will be between the seat and restraint (ala. Vortex and Wild Beast) and not actually around your waist like Millenium Force. If they put the waist seatbelts on there is no doubt it will kill dispatch times.

Nitro used to have some weird seatbelt type device seen in this picture

http://www.coastergallery.com/1999/GA67.html

According to wikipedia, "Nitro previously had a backup safety restraint, which featured a black knob that extended out of the seat. The lap bar latched onto the knob to serve as a safety feature without the need for a safety belt. These were later removed because they were deemed unnecessary, as they easily disconnected and greatly interfered with loading times."

Hopefully that experiment will save Behemoth but you never know.

I guess I'm behind on my Wonderland news, but today driving past the park I couldn't help but notice orange supports on the Bat.

What in gods name are they doing painting the bat red and orange?

Posted

Yeah, that's pretty bad. The black and red was a classic color scheme that really matched the 'theme' of the ride well.

I remember back in the day they used to use to use images of The Bat when advertising other parks Vekoma Boomerangs...SFOT was one that comes to mind, but there were plenty. That red and black was pretty distinctive.

On the call Dick Kinzel, Cedar Fair’s chairman, president and chief executive officer discussed the Company’s $88 million capital expenditure program for 2008, which includes five roller coasters, three exciting thrill rides and many new shows. The program is highlighted by Behemoth, a $21 million record-breaking roller coaster at Canada’s Wonderland. “I had the opportunity this Saturday to visit Canada’s Wonderland and ride Behemoth,” said Kinzel. “It was everything that I thought and hoped it would be.”

"Trim brakes on three hills and Deja' Vu seating!"

Lol jk. I haven't heard major problems with these two things. Just thought I'd say that

Sigh, so I guess these B&M hypers will be showing up at other Cedar Fair parks other than CW and KI. I would much rather have an Intamin mega or two, but oh well.

^I really like Alpengeist, but it's not even at the top of my list for favorite Inverts. I have DD and Montu 1 and 2, with Alpie being #3. The reason I use Alpengeist04 is because in 2004 I started counting credits and Alpengeist was the first coaster I counted. With all that said, I really do like B&M hypers, I just like Intamin mega coasters much much better.

So, I just came back from CW, and Behemoth absolutely blew me away. The trains didn't feel awkward or anything like that and I could still talk to my friend beside me. As for the ride itself, great sustained floater airtime on every hill. The only trim that was on was the first one, and it wasn't that noticeable. You pretty much had to know it was coming and actively try to feel for it. CW has a real winner on its hands here. And its about time.

From what I understand there is a set speed that the train needs to be going over those hills. And if the speed if faster then what it is supposed to be the trims will slow it down. So the trims are always on, it just depends on the weight of the train as that is what varies the speed.

I've noticed that's how most trims are working nowadays. The new trims on Timber Wolf have this. It makes sense to me, just making sure the ride runs the speed it's supposed to.

So here's something pretty awesome... I turn to the 'Discover' section of the paper this morning, and find a giant full-page picture of Behemoth on the front. So my eyes scrolled down to the review section, plus the picture of someone with a camera duct-taped to his hands.

...The review was by my former/substitute math teacher, the Michigan rep for ACE.

Something is screwed up with Behemoth. Today the ride was CLOSED at around 3pm. No reason was given at the time. Someone at CWMania gave the following comment: "I work as a rides employee, and I can say today was busyy we were running cycles as fast as we could to get lines moving, like skyrider line was out of the queue line . I know why behemoth is down, but I cant say, all I can say is, it won't most likely be running coming weekend, and possibly weekend after that."
