ThemeParkCommando
Seeing the TR of Jeff Johnson's recent credit whoring adventure got me to thinking. This is a relatively new concept for me, so I'm curious: What's the most common reaction by ride ops when adults ride kiddie coasters? Suspicion? Indifference? Amusement? Feel free to share stories! --Vanessa "I haven't ridden a kiddie coaster since I was actually a kid" Martin
robbalvey
I think our greatest example of credit whoring ever had to be this trip: http://www.themeparkreview.com/dells2005/olympus/olympus1.htm where we hit 7 parks in 1 day. (Mt. Olympus, Little A-Merrick-A, Satan's Village, Safariland, Kiddieland, Jeepers, and Six Flags Great America.)
SharkTums
Usually they don't care at all, and you get no reaction. I think being a girl helps, as it's obvious I'm not a pedophile!
USRoadTripper
I've gotten "I'm not sure why you want to ride this because it's really meant for kids, but ok" quite a few times, especially on Dragon Wagons! They don't seem to generally care though, especially if you are just riding once. -Julie
shesaidboom
We've gotten a couple annoyed looks when they wouldn't let us sit together and we've taken up half a train, but otherwise nobody has really cared. We've only had someone actually say something to us once, and that was on Pteranodon Flyers [but I really wanted to ride it, and not just for the credit]. The ride op at the entrance told us that if we wanted to wait 75 minutes for a crappy ride that lasted 30 seconds he wouldn't stop us. The line ended up being a lot shorter so it wasn't really that bad.
YoshiFan
I have only ridden a few kiddie coasters and no one has said anything. It's a little uncomfortable being the oldest person on the train without a kid but I don't care.
Disney Dood
My dad wanted to ride the Pteradon Flyers but they said he was too big. I'm pretty sure that's the only kiddie ride that an op or anybody has mentioned anything.....
Vffreak07
I have a couple credits here and there. Nothin compares to the feeling of people staring at you if you're a male walking out of a store with a Tiara in your hand. . . (Don't ask)
Swoosh
^^I'm 6'4" and I rode Pteradon Flyers -- I HIGHLY doubt that your dad is any "bigger" than me
Disney Dood
That's weird, my dad is only 6'0.
SharkTums
What they meant by too big was that he was over 54''. PF has a rule that during normal hours you have to be a kid, or be with a kid to ride. The only time to ride it now is either first thing in the morning or late at night, then the cast member will take pity on you and let you on. WillMontu
To get on PF you need to hit the park as early as possible. Usually they don't open that section of the park until a while after opening the front gates, meaning you can get a few rides on Hulk and Spidey before heading to the flyers. I posted a TR of Erik Johnson and myself getting this coveted credit, but it got buried very quickly.
OldJJman
I find that you usually don't get much of a reaction at all. The biggest reaction you'll usually get is when you call ahead to a place to see if they'll let adults ride their coaster. Typically you'll hear "It's only a crappy little coaster" and they leave it at that. The only look of suspicion is when you have a group of say, 5 or more adults, lining up somewhere. They generally think you're drunk and doing it on a dare. I haven't "borrowed" an unknown kid since 1999 at WoF. I actually felt like a creep doing it and will not do it again. My biggest fear is that Elissa is now going to make a point of hitting a "Dinorex", and doing a full blown PTR, just to throw it in my face. If you don't think she'd do that, you'd better think again!! JJ

They thing there MUST be some other "normal" reason for riding the kiddie other than JUST "riding the kiddie coaster." Sadly, we have to tell the ride ops, that's pretty much why we are there. They give you this look like "Dude, I would have more respect for you had you said you were drunk and doing it on a dare!" --Robb "Sad and pathetic we all are!" easytoremember
One time at wild adventures my brother and I went on the Fiesta Express. To prove the point that it was a kiddie ride, the op made us stand next to the height requirement sign. We were both atleast 2 ft taller than the requirement. I guess she thought it was funny. ThemeParkCommando
Hello again. Thanks to all for your input. Here's a few reactions that I have: Robb: I've been through the TR of the ultimate "Wisconsin Dells and More" credit whoring trip...more than once (because it's so freakin' funny). I especially liked "Satan's Village." Creeeepy. They set a REAL fire to be put out?! Elissa: Yes, I'm sure being female...and looking young...helps. Okay, not kiddie young, but you could pass for a teenager (as could I). I'm sure you're looking forward to the time when KidTums is old enough--but not too old--for the kiddie coasters. You won't have to steal a kid for the "no adults without a kid" coasters, at least for a while. Julie: I just wanted to mention that I fond your TRs quite amusing. I love your interpretations of the picture warning signs by rides. Maybe on the Midwest trip I'll take a spin on Woodstock, the Hat-Eating Coaster. (The mouse ears are since you worked at Disney World.) Jeff Johnson: I must admit that, were I not in the know, looking at the picture with you in line for a kiddie coaster I would have thought "Pedophile." Now I just think "Sad and Pathetic!" I admire your ability to utterly lack self-consciousness. --Vanessa "not a credit whore, but anything's possible" Martin
downunder
I want to know if any adults have managed to get on Goliath Jr at SFMM, you can't even accompany a kid on that one? I tried getting Pterandon Flyers but I was rejected at the gate, bummer, I actually wanted to ride that one even if it was just for the view. I've struck out on Goliath Jr, Gemini Jr, PF, and some unpronouncible ride at La Ronde.
Masked_Maverick
So if it doesn't require an adult to ride it is not credit whoring?
downunder
If you are talking about Goliath Jr, you can't ride it unless you are under 54" tall, so this would be a holy grail of credit whoring.

Masked_Maverick
I meant like Beaver Land Mine Ride as pictured below. Something you don't need a child to ride. Whored credit?
FeelTheFORCE
I don't ride "kiddie rides" now, hence the reason I don't have WE at CP. All the kiddie credits I have are from when I was little.
BarryH
I tried getting Pterandon Flyers but I was rejected at the gate, bummer, I actually wanted to ride that one even if it was just for the view. I hit PF right as the park opened. As soon as I was in the gates at opening, I made a beeline right to PF. The Team Member said that I really needed a kid to ride, but since the wait time was less than 0 minutes, he let me ride. I actually got to ride PF twice since no one was in queue. PF might look gentle, but it swings around that you have to hold on tight!
Dino_Martini
I know I'm bumping an old thread, but I don't want to start my own. Can someone describe this 'credit' thing to me? Is there a list of what is designated as a 'credit'?
