P. 275: "Spring Exposition" festival announced!

It didn't need to be relocated anyway, since it's not a classic. I just want to see a new one built. The layout was brilliant, I wouldn't mind seeing it "cloned" to a couple of parks like PowerLand's Thunderbird.

I'd like to think that GCI always keeps their previous coaster layouts in their back pocket in case a park wants an "off the shelf" design. You have to wonder if coaster developers discount projects significantly if the design phase is almost entirely eliminated by using a pre-designed model of a coaster.

^ I'd say that is absolutely a possibility being that American Thunder at SFStL is a clone of Thunderbird at Powerland

The park will be busy the rest of the season regardless when you go. While Sunday will be less busy than a Saturday, I'd still expect a big crowd as most schools in the area are getting out Friday for the holidays.

Might check weather. If it gets too chilly none of the big rides will be open and I'm guessing that's your sole purpose for visiting and not the shows (though the two Broadway style shows are really good)

Am I the only one who's noticed how Outlaw Run has a decent amount of jolts along the ride? Not complaining or calling it rough, but I wonder why they are there and how the could fix them.

lol, how often do you get to ride OR? You sure do monitor it closely.

It is essentially still a wooden coaster, so it will get it's bumps and jolts with age. I didn't notice much when I rode it a couple of weeks ago though. Seasonal maintenance is just around the corner so it should be even better in spring.

Haha. I pay a lot of attention to that coaster because it's my baby I haven't ever had a local coaster good enough to brag about!

PTB finally are going to do something about crowd flow trouble spots in the park during the off-season. The biggest changes will be down by Saloon running from skillet to FITH. The entrance to Hospitality House from the square will also have changes made.

This is where the video is for anyone who wants it!

I hate to see this coaster demolished. It seems like a waste of a perfectly good coaster. (Obviously minus the fact that it's sat unmaintained for so long.) It was a decent coaster that provide awesome pops of airtime. Deep down I was wishing it could find a new home, at a different park.

I don't want to see changes to the hospitality house area. Hopefully it still stays the same lush and beautiful area it currently is

It's a horrible bottleneck. I would love to see the whole entrance area from the tram stop to the square redone, with all paths widened. It was built at a time when they had crowds in the hundreds, not thousands, and it just doesn't work for the 20,000+ they get on weekends in the summer and December.

Silver Dollar City is VERY smart when it comes to planning things, and they like to keep the park as lush and beautiful as possible. I have no doubt in my mind that they can come up with a crowd control solution that doesn't ruin the feel of the area!

So very true. It is very much in need of some wider paths. When the park is really busy on summer and December weekends just walking through that area is almost impossible. I can't wait to see the changes!

Is it already too late to expect a 2016 announcement? Or is there still time? It obviously will not be anything big, but still wondering what could be new for the season.

They announced 2016 about 2 months ago. There's a lot of info in this link, but I'll post a rundown here too.

- LAST YEAR for World-Fest. If you've never been at this time, go. It's all about the shows, and most of them are very good. Plus, lines for rides are short, since it's all about the shows!

NEW EVENTS:

- Founders' Weekend May 6-8. Not much info about this yet, other than that it celebrates the Herschends.

- MOTHERS' DAY May 8 - Special one-day gift shop and special brunch

- FATHERS' DAY June 19 - BBQ Lunch!

- HEROES' MONTH - All of September. Not much info about this either, other than that it celebrates police officers, firefighters, veterans, etc.

This has been a trend recently; 2012 and 2014 were also festival/show years, with no new ride additions.

^ Ah, I see. Its disappointing they are ending World Fest. I really enjoyed that.

Yeah, I was really surprised; the shows are always very popular. Maybe they're having trouble getting international acts these days? Whatever it is next year, they should continue to focus on shows in the spring. Weather is really unpredictable, and if you're coming for shows, it will have the least impact on your day.
