The company unveiled a new type of inverted train this week, featuring the following chassis:

And lapbars !

Next year, the first roller coaster will be equiped with the new trains.

The seats itself - suitable for both small children and large adults - could be used on regular trains as well. And for inverting (aka looping) rides, an additional "vest-like" shoulder restraint is in development.

I suppose this will be similar to their Flying Dutchman restraints.

OMG!! There's hope for SLCs!

That lapbar concept does look pretty nice. While there are a few tolerable SLCs out there, there's a lot which really need all the help they can get.

Oh man! A lap bar SLC! I'd LOVE if they upgraded the local SLC with those trains! It would scare the crpa out of people and there will be no lines! And it should be so much fun!

...too bad our SLC is one of the only properly-working, smooth SLCs, so I doubt it'll be getting an upgrade soon.

I was the one that wrote the article and visited Vekoma. These trains are not for existing coasters like SLC's but mostly for the new coasters Vekoma will built.

The type you see here is for a suspended family coaster. But the seats are also usable for normal (c.q. not suspended) coasters and when the coaster has inversions they add very comfortable belts. But this system is not yet finished

if only The Vampire at CwoA were a Vekoma, the ride would be much much much more comfortable!!! no head baning!!!

im thinking: would there be a chance for an arrow ride to have this?

Our SLC could benifit from those trains lol... cause some days it's good, some days it has issues lol. It always seems to be when i'm there

Vekoma have been using spring-loaded guide wheels for several years now. Unless they've added much-needed shock absorbers to the trains (plus dozens of other improvements that need to be made) I wouldn't be holding my breath for B&M smoothness just yet.

I haven't seen any Vekoma with spring-loaded guide wheels before.

They've used rubber blocks on some newer models though, but springs ? Not that I know of.

I think those will be mostly on Inverted Coasters and maybe some normal coasters too. They do look really cool and safe aswell. Can't wait till they come out.

Awsome! I can't wait to see these trains put to use! Hopefully they will work and really smoothen up new Vekoma's, i love how Vekoma has been coming up with cool concepts the last few years (Motorbike, Inverted Family - with these cool new cars,...).

Wow... I'm impressed!

Seriously though, Vekoma has some great layouts for their coasters. For example, their layout for the SLC is great! Tight, compact, cool... but the downfall of Vekoma's cool designs is the roughness of their coasters. If this resolves that problem, I think Vekoma could become more prominent in the industry and build more than clones.

I really hope these new trains will be the standard trains on future SLC's; or replace the existing trains.

Lol they should make GIB's with these trains, that is bound to be scary

The cars kind of remind me of the Mountain Glider's cars coming in 2007 to Six Flags Belgium execpt with 2 across seating. I wonder which parks will get this model.
