RCoasterny Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Everyone has listed great drops on steelies over 100 feet tall. How about steelies UNDER 50 feet tall? #1 would be the Schwartzkopf Jet Star I. #2 would be any Zyklon / Galaxi.
jpmaher228 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Apollo's Chariot outside left seat at night !
MixedDrink Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Behemoth, those few minutes at Behemoth Bash when the weight at the front of the train absolutely whipped us over especially.
LcHg5265 Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 The backseat of Tennessee Tornado...the floater air down that tunnel is great!
Kennyweird Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 For me it's a three way tie between Millennium Force, Fahrenheit, and Maverick.
jan.andren Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 The best drop is of corse Expedition Geforce.
The Bat Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 ^ Agreed. Back seat on Expedition GeForce: a religious experience. Pure art - plain and simple. -- Dave
philthephorce Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 MF Sheikra Magnum (because of the view)
DCody Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Front row on Behemoth at night! But X2 wins in the "Most Creative" category. As for smaller steelies, Whirlwind at Seabreeze has a shockingly badass first drop (especially if you're sitting backwards) and it's only 50 feet tall!
paulie123 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Okay guys, dont be hating on me.. But here in Aus we dont have any WOW coasters. Superman escape, yeh yeh, but.. In 04 I took a trip to the US.. I went to SFMM, and i absolutely LOVED scream! So im going to say scream is the best drop on a coaster
John Peck Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I really like PKI's Vortex and Tennesee Tornado in the back seat on those drops. Another great first drop was Astroworlds Viper through that tunnel it had.
stuartnz Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I think X has to be my favourite. It's just so... different.
Jds03 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 El Toro MF X Griffon/Sheikra Maverick They all have something unique about their drop that makes it amazing
U2Rox Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Toro's Drop is Amazing!! X2 is unbelievable!!! My most memorable drop of all time to date is Millennium Force! My first ride was second to last row, left side. Incredible!!
wykah Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 SFMM's Goliath and SFOT's Titan coasters. After a teasing lift climb that feels like eternity you crest the top then looking down you can see a tiny black square way below in the distance and you think to yourself "there's no way we'll fit in that!"
geaugalakeinexile Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 RoS at Darien Lake. At night, the first drop looks like you are dropping into nothing but darkness. In the fall there is sometimes fog over the lake making this drop even better.
mightypotato Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Definitely Maverick. That 95 degree drop is freaking insane. Second to that would be Griffon, mainly due to the holding brake just before the drop while sitting in the front row.
PhantomNick Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Hmmm, there are a lot of great ones. My top 3 are: 1. Millennium Force - Just awesome, especially in the back car 2. Raging Bull - Pre drop, then diving down into a tunnel. Again, back row rocks the best 3. Phantom's Revenge - Although the second drop is the money shot, I'm a huge fan of this twisting dive First steel coaster drops I want to experience - Superman Ride of Steel (SFNE), Diamondback, Apollo's Chariot, Expedition GeForce, and Goliath (SFoG)
Eric_Smith Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I have to say that Maverick, Magnum, and Millennium Force are my top three, in no particular order. Maverick has the 95* drop, Magnum has an AWESOME view of the lake, and Millennium is just amazing.
xChris125x Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Three are obvious for me. Millennium Force SheiKra Fahrenheit
