I actually totally agree with everything in this paragraph! While they have an awesome assortment of coasters, nothing there is "the best of it's kind". Millenium Force is pretty good but it's not like it hasn't been done elsewhere better (Thunder Dolphin, the SROS's, Goliath, GeForce).

...you gotta be kiding me

When every one of these coasters came out it WAS the biggest and the best. There not gonna tear down a new coaster everytime something bigger comes out. People are so unappreciative of the incredible rides at this park it blows my mind

You said it exactly! When they came out they where the biggest and best of there kind but, all there rides have been one up since then.

Does the park have an awesome amount of coasters? Yes! Are they the best in the world? NO!

Now about Maverick, if the ride turns out just like that concept picture, themeing and all, it looks to be a great ride. I just hope its official.

One thing I'm wondering about, will the lift be just a regular slow lift? Or will it be more like Cali. Screamin where it launches you up the lift and you get airtime ontop of it. If you ask me, with a 95* drop following that, thats gonna be REALLY cool.

Also, I noticed in the concept picture that I think some of the clearances mey be a little edgy see below

it looks like a bit of a headgrinder effect with that wall

Just because they're not the "best in the world" (IYO, I might add) doesn't mean they're not good rides. A lot of people on this forum and many others like MF a lot, and even Magnum still. I know many people who would swear to you they like Raptor more than the Batman clones, and Mantis better than Riddlers. It's a matter of opinion. In MY humble opinion, I think we should be thankful to cedar point for in a lot of situations being brave enough to stick their heads out and build something new. Building prototypes is never a gurantee that you will have the "best in the world" but at least it proves the technology and the public's response to it to allow others to refine the design. I mean think about it, they broke 200', 300', and 400'. As a coaster riding group we should be thankful to them, because it shows that the other parks were content with just building another coaster. Cedar Point played a big part of the so-called "Coaster wars" in the 80's-today. Whatever this ride is, I think you will see at least something new with it, as that's their style. Even if what's new seems lame at first (say, twists on BOTH towers on WT), it still makes for a ride unique to the country if not the world (at least until the next one's built). As mentioned before, be thankful they're building a new coaster at all, because by most amusement park's standards, they have PLENTY. The GP would be happy to ride MF, TTD, Magnum, Raptor, Mantis, and all their other coasters for years to come. They don't depend on coaster-enthusiasts for money, and obviously they did pretty well (they bought the paramount parks didn't they?). I for one am just happy to see a coaster and not another giant flat which is what I thought might be coming for a couple years.

Look, if it's an aquatrax, cool. If it isn't, cool. In fact, I'll be happy with what they choose to build as LONG AS THE SOLE PURPOSE OF THE RIDE IS NOT to break records.

Unless the ride is good. I didn't enjoy TTD or MF. (In fact, I liked Magnum the most. It has a lot of airtime, and the roughness was kind to me.) One of the best rides at CP is Raptor - smooth, but still very, very, very enjoyable. And Blue Streak.

I love that little coaster.

Off topic: This is my first post!

Oh, by the way, I skipped about 40 pages of the topic just because I was sick of listening to "Aquatrack? Wingwalker! Aquatrack? Wingwalker! Aquatrack? Wingwalker!" So I probably missed something important! *gasp*

Just gonna throw my opinion in here:

Upon seeing the conceptual art, I wasn't all that thrilled about this coaster; call me crazy, but the lay-out just doesn't "wow" me (aside from the beyond-vertical drop), and upon hearing that it would feature two launches and short trains, I started thinking of The Italian Job, and how disappointed I was with it.

However, the more I think about it, the more I think this will be a really enjoyable ride; while the launch-mechanism and trains might be different, the twisted track reminds me of Storm Runner, and I think we can all agree that, if it's like Storm Runner, that would be a very, very good thing.

And that beyond-vertical drop after the upwards launch? That's gonna be a hell of a sensation - you're going to be THROWN out of your seat like a baseball out of a pitcher's hand.

Overall, I don't have the very highest of high expectations, as I'm still not completely sold on the lay-out, but there's enough there to keep me interested.

The lift hill is technically a launch, but it probably won't feel like it.

LSM powered doesn't mean launched.

I was thinking of Superman: The Escape. Guess it depends on how powerful they want it to be, though it seems kinda pointless to use the system if they don't use it to its fullest potential.

^^

I didn't realize they were all done building the ride yet.

Anyway, as they say in Austraila; Aquatrax, Aquatrax, Aquatrax! Oi! Oi! Oi!

Rest in peace Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin

It is absolutely NOT an aquatrax. Where is the water-ride part?? Cause that's the whole point of aquatrax

Actually that's not correct. An AquaTrax is a type of system that can be used to make any kind of ride, and yes, one WITHOUT a water element!

Think about when everyone start seeing the concept art for SheiKra before it was announced. No one believed it would be a Dive Machine because it did all that other "stuff", no one believed it because it used a modified version of the trains than the other two Dive Machines.

And oh, look....ShieKra was a Dive Machine! With a WATER ELEMENT! So you might as well call that ride B&M's Aqua Trax!

Oh Robb!

Thank you for accidently answering my question that seemed to get skipped over by everyone else (go back two pages)! Your the best- especially when you don't mean to be!

Good points, but I'm not convinced. Maybe it will only be a "launched steel looper", like California Screamin'. You can't really say Cal Screamin is a certain special type of coaster, can you?

I think Doug said earlier that the stuff on the back of that truck was actually some big stacks of wood, although he may have been talking about the stuff under the blue tarp in the staging area, I'm not sure.

But *GASP* that stuff's under BLACK tarps instead of blue ones! It must be something special. And since all the other tarps were blue, which is obviously a clue to water and an Aquatrax, this must not be related to the Aquatrax construction.

Elissa, this isn't "Cedar Bon Bon Point Land " lol. You don't see ants taking a leak on bathroom doors, roach in bathtub themed condor rides, or riding in monkey butt carosels now do you? Oh and I forgot dog fart coasters unless TTD's sound effects are put in slow motion.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why couldn't an aquatrax coaster have 2-car trains? It seems plausible to me, especially with cedar point's emphasis on capacity, that they requested 2-car aquatrax trains instead of just one. I mean, look at WildCat at CP, only 1 car trains, but many other versions, like for example Galaxy at Indiana Beach, have 2 car-trains. I think this is still an aquatrax, as the tarped cars do look VERY similar.
