P. 2038: Top Thrill 2 reopens on May 3rd!

I haven't gone through all the posts again, but did anything in the press release say that it's specifically the heartline roll that's being worked on? Or is that just conjecture on peoples' parts? The only thing i've read is "three sections of track after the launch tunnel".

Could the three sections in question be the left-hand turn coming out of the tunnel? That turn will definitely get the full force of the 70MPH launch. And watching the on-ride animation, it almost seems like there's an odd shift to the right before it banks into the left turn (though that might be a trick of the animation).

As this will be my first trip to CP, I don't know the layout very well. Are both the heartline and the end of the launch tunnel visible from the midway? It'll be interesting to see exactly which three pieces are removed.

You can't see it from the main midway I am pretty sure. Maverick is in the back of the park relative to the entrance

I'm pretty sure he was reffering to the paths around Maverick, not the main midway specifically.

On closing weekend you could see the heartline roll and the turn out of the tunnel fine, but this was before the canyon was added. Theres a "secret" spot that i'll try to get pictures from on saturday, TR sometime next week.

As far as the reason for the replacement, I would have to say fabrication/installation error.

For what it's worth the special announcement on Cedar Point's web page says:

"Maverick will be delayed until early June to make modifications to the coaster's steel track."

"IntaRide has already started designing replacement track."

The fact that they're apparently back in the design phase suggests that the issue wasn't related to manufacturing or construction. Of course, this announcement is very vague. It's anyone's guess really.

i just noticed that webcam and their is for sure more than 1 train on the track at this time im prolly gonna say 3 or 4/ because there were 2 trains goin through the circuit at the same time

Continued testing after they announce they're getting 3 new sections of track.

Though that doesn't make sense to me, it may make sense to someone.

Maybe they've watched too many episodes of Star Trek.

Scotty: but Captain, she'll break apart!

Kirk: BREAK her APART then , Mr Scott!

There is no way I am waiting 30 minutes to watch the webcam. Are you out of your mind? Oh how fun... it is looking at Top Thrill Dragster... OH... what do you know... Sure enough a train just flew over TTD's hill... OMG and what is this... there is a train going up MF's hill. Mantis is testing... OMG and so is Corkscrew... Ok... yeah I so need a life. Is cedar Point open yet? Because all of their rides are moving.

Trains can handle alot more forces than the people riding can.

So I'm sure there is testing or training that can be done while they wait for the new track sections to be built.

Even if the g's are too hight in that zero G roll, running the trains is not going to cause any damage.

Hey, chances are the other 20-odd people would be looking at Maverick anyway.

Fine, a correction: You MAY or may NOT see Maverick OPEN for testing.

Somebody has cranked up their sarcasm sequencer today

Yea I dont really understand why there still testing it. For like 2 seconds i thought they were playing a huge trick on us and were still going to open the ride tomorrow. but then I realized why would they do that?

Maybe they are testing Maverick to see if all the other components/sections of the ride are still working properly.

They would be running Maverick today if the ride was perfect or not. It's no surprise to me that it's testing.

I caught Maverick testing on the webcam like many other people. It doesn't make sense to me why there testing it, while there going to replace track... I have a feeling there going to open it and see if people like it, and if they don't close it. Probally not, just a speculation!

They open tommorow morning, so if they haven't finished testing yet, they should be running them to get everything ready for opening day.

Also, are any TPR members gonna be there opening day?
