Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

P. 1989: Wicked Twister's permanent closure announced!

Recommended Posts

Damnit, Bill. Why do you have to make me of all people look like the good guy?

It's like good cop, bad cop but only one of us is actually a cop and the other guy is just an a**hole.

RMC Mean streak confirmed for 2018 in this article?

Tony Clark himself could announce that it's a 2018 ride and the 2017 people still wouldn't believe it so an article from a publication that nobody has ever heard of won't change a thing.

RMC Mean streak confirmed for 2018 in this article?

Firstly, I feel like 2018 was "confirmed" in the Christmas video.

But no this article doesn't confirm anything, they're speculating as much as we all are, there's no sources cited. They didn't even get all the facts right. Outlaw Run doesn't have 4 inversions, nor is it the 4th fastest wooden coaster...

The article comes as across as being written by an enthusiast who just assumes it's 2018 at this point...I see no receipts. I'm not one to dismiss possibility, but at this point it seems like Cedar Point/Fair might have wanted a LOT of shakedown time for their massive new RMC.

Just wanted to let y'all know I applied for Cedar Point today. I didn't know if it was allowed to be posted in here but if anybody works there feel free to PM me details of what it's like to work there, where I should live, etc. Thanks!

Sent you a message with a little bit of details on what working at the park is like! Any questions you have you can throw my way!

No matter what year it opens I just hope I can go back and ride it when it does open! I only been on one RMC. Goliath at Great America and while its a really awesome coaster, its super shot. Mean Streak was a really long coaster. I can only imagine what it would be like to be on a coaster that is like 4 Goliaths put together!

Because Tony has never ever ever ever ever lied/misled/pulled our chains just to watch us squirm for a few pages. Until the park officially announces it one way or the other, I'm riding the 2018 boat. Would I love that boat to be the Titanic and 2017 be the iceberg? Of course!

As long as I bring a life jacket that is. Or a door that could fit at least two people.

Given the length of MS & the fact that the only construction done thus far is track removal, lift hill height addition, and track from the station to the bottom of the lift, this is hands down a 2018 conversion. And I even was pulling for 2017 at one point

The fact that people actually believed that Cedar Point would adopt a Tempesto-like marketing strategy and open a hardly-marketed RMC in 2017 still boggles my mind.

I don't think anyone ever truly believed that New Mean Streak would actually be opening in 2017. I think everyone who was #Team2017, was simply hoping that New Mean Streak would open in 2017, because they didn't like the idea of having to wait till 2018 to get a chance to ride what will most likely be one of the best coasters in the world.

But now that reality has set in, and everyone fully understands that New Mean Streak will not be opening in 2017, we have all been able to go back to our normal boring debate-less lives.

People believed when the ride had track going up in early October, that a two year construction timeline seemed ridiculous. It still kind of does. But at the time, 2017 wasn't a crazy thought. The prevailing thought was that they would announce it for the Holidays.

I never took a side, just because I personally didn't see a point, but I never felt that it was necessary to crucify people for having hope to see a 2017 opening. It always amazes me how hard headed people can be. We are all here with a common interest that's fun to be able to share. TPR is also built on the grounds of fun and they make it a point to include all. I see a lot of people losing sight on why we are all here.
