Mossed
Well done but I have zero faith in Cedar Fair's ability to maintain a GCI. They seem to be doing okay with Renegade and Prowler.
coasterbill
I was under the impression that Renegade was running like hell based on trip reports. I hate to go on enthusiast reviews since enthusiasts are convinced Gatekeeper and Mystery Mine are rough but since I haven't ridden it that's unfortunately all I have to go on. Haven't ridden prowler but Renegade was running smoother in 2014 than Thunderhead was at Dollywood last year. I realize this may be an unfair comparison since it's two different companies but my point still stands that Renegade is smooth... (and actually a pretty damn good ride)

Renegade is running beautifully. I can marathon ride it comfortably. Either those reviews are from bad days, or they are from cranky enthusiasts who feel that everything is rough. I have never had a problem with it. Although, I have only had a couple rides on it in the last two seasons (Only going to Valleyfair to process my Cedar Fair pass). I only got one ride on Prowler but it was amazing. Better than any I've had on Renegade, through the pitch dark night, to end an epic amusement park trip. Again, no problems with roughness. GCI still isn't atop my wishlist for Cedar Point, but I have the utmost confidence in Cedar Fair.
nannerdw
I'm actually glad it's only 8 across. Griffon was extremely cramped, with room for only one person's arm between the seats.
FeelTheFORCE
Cool concept, but I agree with others that they probably wouldn't shoe-horn a coaster into this area. I'd rather that they fix Mean Streak (RMC -cough) and add a better, more reliable family water/flume ride themed in the vacant STR area. Something like Daredevil Falls at DW...or heck, even an attraction like River Battle - I had a ton of fun on that thing! How about just a basic old school log flume? Agreed. Sometimes you don't need to reinvent the wheel. Just keep it simple.
coasterkyle
I feel like old school flume are going the way of the Dodo. When was the last time a band new flume was put into a major park? And if they do put one it is can almost be 100% positive it will have some type of restraint on it. Sorry for being so negative, just basing all this on what I see in the industry. Just a high quality well put together log flume with a little scenery. Log flumes are always popular.
blakelemay23
Well done but I have zero faith in Cedar Fair's ability to maintain a GCI. Cedar Point would definitely take good care of a GCI... And to add on to the original log flume conversation, here is the original Shoot The Rapids.. this is what the park needs.
Geauga Dog
Oh, I remember the original Shoot the Rapids quite well. I always hated waiting for it as a kid. I'd like to see CP invest in a Mack water ride for a change, maybe something like Poseidon at Europa Park.

Vonni
Was the original Shoot the Rapids the ride Raptor replaced, or the ride Maverick replaced?
bluestreak
Was the original Shoot the Rapids the ride Raptor replaced, or the ride Maverick replaced? Neither. Garet
^ I would much rather see that than (dare I say it) an Aquatrax. Aquatrax's are a myth anyway, there's only trax's now.

Original StR was somewhere else on Frontier Trail. White Water landing was replaced by Maverick and Mill Race was replaced by Raptor The Original STR was located at the present day site of Maverick. STR was removed for WWL, which was then replaced with Maverick.

Philrad71
I think that we are going to look into checking this event out this year. It looks like the event will be along the Frontier Trail this year versus the pavilion near Wicked Twister where I believe it was held last year. I wonder if any (or all) of it will be in the old STR location? I also wonder what type of live music will be offered and if it will be big names or local acts? God knows that I could use a little more live Foreigner, Kid Rock or Starship (featuring Mickey Thomas, of course) in my life.
blk_mamba
Ever since the announcement of Shoot the Rapids leaving, I've been thinking about a realistic option that could take its place. As a result, I created Badlands, a GCI wooden coaster that would span the past area of Shoot the Rapids. Here's a video: Wow this is AWESOME ! I think I'd prefer an Intamin pre-fab woodie however this roller coaster looks awesome! Few things that I particularly liked. 1. The station pass through is a nice touch that the GP would love. I could see so many people just posting a picture of that on their IG and Facebook. 2. The tunnels and rock work look great. 3. The ride look like it would deliver so much air time. It reminds me of a wooden version of Maverick b/c it is would not be the tallest or fastest but it won't be very intense. 4. How did you make all those rides in NL? Not only does the ride look great but the Cedar point looks great period. 5. You detailed everything so well. Even the station and pathway look very believable.
