Valleyfair (VF) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Valleyfair had moderate to steady rain during the evening till about 6:30pm. After that almost everyone was leaving the park with the rain. I went to Steel Venom at 7pm walk right onto the front row with a empty station no one was in line. Had a private ride that doesn't happen to much on Steel Venom. Tilt a Whirl, Northern Lights, Wheel of Fortune, Mad Mouse and Looping Star Ship your normal rides are usually closed when there's moderate rain. The rain stopped after 7pm by then the park was almost empty or dead. Got a few rides on Extreme Swing five minute wait and few re rides on Turbo Drop and Space Shot on Power Tower no wait times. Headed to Wild Thing running two trains five minute waits. Something I notice when I was in line watching the Wild Thing trains seem to stopped right away at the beginning of the brake run waited for the other train to come out of the station. Normally the train doesn't slow till the end of the brake run before it hit's the station? Is that normal or weather related with the moderate rain? After Wild Thing spent the rest of the night at Renegade. I was surprised they kept two trains going till 10:00pm. There was no line on the stair's or at the tunnel. Renegade was a walk on till closing time. About 9:30pm when I was on Renegade I got a couple of private rides in the front row there was no one in the station and got plenty of re rides on Renegade and got the last ride of the night on Renegade is always fun . I think the sometime's the best time to go to an amusement park is when it rain's for a couple of hour's then everyone leave's and the line's have no wait time's or even go to the park when it rain's less wait times.

Does anyone else think the park may be planning something for their 40th next year? They did bring up the park's anniversary in the latest blog along with the original creators...I'm not expecting an expansion or anything big, but maybe they'll do some events or coaster celebrations?

For their 30th Anniversary, the park had cotton candy priced at 50 cents - the same price it was when the park opened - all season. They also did various food and drink specials (Corn Dogs for $1, a burger & fries for $2, small soda for 25 cents) throughout the season. I'd guess they'd do something similar for the 40th Anniversary.

As far as the speculation of when VF will announce it's 2016 plans, it seems like most people posting here have completely written off the possibility of a coaster for 2016. While I'd guess we would've seen more signs by now if they were planning to build something major, that doesn't mean something major won't be announced. Remember, VF didn't announce Renegade until late September 2006 (Press Release, dated Sept. 21st, 2006). There's still plenty of time for things to happen.

The realists here have written off a coaster a long time ago.

1) There's no logical place to put one at the moment

2) If the parking lot permit gets approved, it will be an absolutely massive and expensive project by itself.

3) Soak City is still by far one of the worst ones in the chain. There's still no tube slides and family play area, something even small local waterparks have, to say nothing of more marquee and visually impressive attractions. Cedar Fair is happy with how their last investment turned out.

im not sure if anyone has noticed but there seems to be some activity in the amphitheater. The curtain is up and I think there are various boards on the stage. That's just what I saw though. If I were a betting man, I would bet a larson flyers goes where those markers are in 2016

I really hope this happens, flyers are a ton of fun.

With Worlds of Fun removing Thunderhawk, is there a possibility it may be moved again to Valleyfair or Dorney?

Valleyfair already has a HUSS Top Spin (RipTide), another one isn't necessary. If anything, Thunderhawk's removal means that RipTide might be on its way out sooner or later.

You guys might inherit some parts from Thunderhawk but I'd be surprised if any in the chain last too much longer. Apparently the one at KD is starting to show stress fractures on the carriage. KBF's has been down almost all year. Pretty sure that only leaves VF and CGA.

The one we have isn't necessary, in my opinion. I have never seen a line for it.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Riptide bite the dust.

Behemoth and Leviathan are not the exact same ride. Yes, they are both B&M hypers, but the layouts aren't the same, or even similar.

And technically, Thunderhawk and RipTide are two different types of HUSS Top Spins, so... whichever way you look at it!

On a different topic, it doesn't say Excalibur will be closed for Haunt on Valleyfair's website this year. Any thoughts?

This proves that when I said Hellaide Farm is in the back of the park this year! Because it is! Well it a good chance that Exclaibur may be on its way out this year if the park wants to keep it open this year to the last riders...

Not after they just reprogrammed it, no it's staying for a while. It doesn't break down every day now, except for the usual once-in-a-blue-moon faults you get on any ride (Motor contactors causing it to estop, a stupid seat fault, my butt hitting the platform estop, etc.)

Anyways, the other day leaving the park I saw them putting two Excalibur cars onto a truck, but it didn't look very heavy duty, so don't know if that means anything.

Driving by this morning I see that the Haunt ramps are gone from the amphitheater. Please tell me it's going away. PLEASE.

And yes, I did indeed estop Riptide on accident with my butt once. Opps.

How does Excalibur being open during the haunt prove that Hellside Farm is moving back there? They could move that back there whether Excalibur is open or not..

Looks like King's Island is getting a pretty impressive water slide complex for 2016. In a way I wish there was more to ours than what we added last year. I suppose the compact space we had to work with limited how twisty our slides could be. Hopefully one or two new slide complexes are still to come in the near future..

Hey everyone I was just told to tell you guys that Valleyfair will be doing a commercial shoot on some of their coasters this coming weekend (Saturday through Monday I believe) and they were looking for extras that would be able to ride the roller coasters in the morning this weekend. You have to be 18 and up to ride without a parents permission but if you are younger you need to have your parents sign a form since you will be included in footage that may be used. If you are interested contact MHehl@valleyfair.com

That's pretty much it guys, I hope you are able to ride!

With Kings Dominion and Canada's Wonderland announcing their 2016 additions today, it seems like a few new possibilities for Valleyfair may have opened up. Canada's Wonderland is opening Skyhawk, a thrilling flat ride that looks like a hybrid of a Zamperla Air Race and TMNT Shell Shock at Nick Universe. Looks like a great ride, and I certainly wouldn't mind seeing one here.

Kings Dominion announced Delirium, a Mondial Revolution that appears to be similar to the HUSS Giant Frisbees at Cedar Point and Kings Island. I think one of these would look perfect in the amphitheater's spot (curb appeal) in addition to being a lot of fun.

Thoughts?
