Thanks everyone for the info. Will they give me $15 credit on the xtreme pass too if I paid for parking that day?

Parking passes are available for $50.00. However, if you park that day AND show the receipt parking passes are only $35.00 . You may purchase them at Guest Relations.

I doubt it. But you should just let them have the $15 anyways. Remember they need the money to stay in business.

^ I've heard that if you b**** about something enough at Guest Relations they will pretty much do anything to satisfy you. Its always worth a shot to ask. The worst that could happen is they say no.

Posted

^I highly recommend NOT doing that.

That is what our society has come to. People believe that they can complain and bitch enough to get what they want. There is no personal responsibility and I hate it.

The worst that could happen is that your unwarranted bitching somehow opens up an unknown black hole and the universe ends.

"I've heard that if you b**** about something enough at Guest Relations they will pretty much do anything to satisfy you." (rawrtotheargh)

I was out at SFMM yesterday and actually stopped in at Guest Relations to do that which I rarely do---make a complaint. At Goliath, I used to go up to the exit and tell the attendant that I'm a single rider. Till yesterday, they ALWAYS let me take an empty seat once the train was loaded. Not only did the girl not allow that, but was rather snotty to me. (And they got a new swing open gate to replace the chain---a rolling one would have been better, but...whatever).

So I told the lady at GR about this incident and was informed that the single rider policy was "an experiment" and that they weren't officially doing it anymore. (Earlier at Riddler's Revenge, however, I was allowed to do that as always with no problem).

My point is, the lady at GR offered me an exit pass to ride Goliath, but I turned it down because I felt that the park had done nothing wrong, and I had not set foot in GR just to get some sort of perk.

Later on, I waited in Goliath's regular line, and it was only about 20 minutes tops. Not bad considering the park was VERY busy, with a 2-1/2 hour line at X2. Otherwise, in abour four hours, I did Viper, Riddler, Gold Rusher, Scream!, and Ninja and Revolution each twice.

^Sorry, Eric, but I'm definitely with the park on this one. It always kind of bothered me when I would read your trip reports about going up the exit and telling them you're a single rider.

If there's not a single rider queue, you shouldn't make one yourself. Regardless if 'some' ops have let you in the past, they have enough to do (especially at that chaotic Goliath exit) that you probably were just getting in the way.

Agreed. I think it's one thing to be allowed to stay on the coaster if there is no one in line for your seat (like when the park is slow and the stations are empty) but to walk up the exit and jump into an empty seat just because you're a single rider, well, I'm not really sure that's fair.

I think if you want to ride, you should have to go through the actual ride queue like everyone else. (Unless you have a FlashPass or unless there is an actual sign posted single rider line.)

Just my two cents.

^ and ^^ Fair enough, and you are right. However, that does work well at other parks (in my experience), and it's something that I hope SFMM considers in the future.

^ That is most certainly the ride that needs the single rider line the most in that park, so I am glad they added that. Cajun has such horrible capacity problems in that park.

I highly agree.

And Eric. Did you see the ride attendants name? Cause I know the crew on Goliath pretty well and they are all really sweet girls. It seems weird that they would be snotty you.

Unfortunately, your correct.

We were at Disneyland at the now infamous "sand on the ticket booth" day when they closed down the gate for an hour or so. You should have seen the line at City Hall. It was ridiculous.

So this is sort of off topic but it has to do with Magic Mountain.

I'm planning on coming to the mountain on this Thursday and Friday. I don't live in California so it's not very often that I get a chance to come. What are the ride lines like? Does X2 have it's usual 4 hour line or are all the lines still raher short?

Posted

^Some schools are still on Spring Break so don't expect it to be dead, but there won't be four hour lines either.

Make sure you're there early and RUN for X.

Yeah you can either get in line right at the beginning or just get in line at the last hour the park is open. A lot of times the line is rather short around closing. Just avoid it like mid day to an hour after opening. I've noticed that Goliath has been running exceptionally well lately too so don't expect a long wait on that. But many factors can change wait times so don't listen to my exact words.

E-Tums, I agree 100%. I think people have forgotten their manners as well when they go out for a day at the parks. I feel for alot of these ride ops and guest facing employees/cast members/ect.. as they take alot of guff from whiney Gen Y/Millenial kids and the parents/caretakers who refuse to make them be responsible young people.

Robb, I also agree on the "Single Rider Line" argurment. Im of the belief that everyone should get in line and wait it out accordingly.

Gregg, Do tell about the "Sand On The Ticketbooth" day, as I havent heard this sordid tale...

Posted

^ Somebody put a "powder" on one of the ticket booths and they closed the entire esplanade because they weren't sure what it was. Turned out it was sand.

I think this was in February or early March (ish).

Wow. It's not something that's said very often, but frontline employees do appreciate hearing that, even if it's just once. Being a frontline employee is difficult when it comes to complaints, because you're the first person people come in contact with, and you are the easiest to get in contact with. So whenever anyone shows any sympathy, it is appreciated. TRUST ME.
