GMAN962 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 ^That's really not too bad...a name change would be easy! "Project X." It would be cool if they did change it...they'd also paint it like...black and green. I don't know, but it would be pretty cool. I'd have to agree that an overhaul when it comes to theming would be good for X. -Mike
BarryH Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I thought Cheetah was worse than Psyclone, if you can believe that. Cheetah will break your spine, unless you ride in the front row. Even in the front, though, it's fairly rough.
Loco Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^I have to agree, Grizzly at PGA is far worse then Psyclone ever was. To GP Grizzly is fun . I remember riding Grizzly back in 2003 and a couple people saying "Lets go on it again!"
Carnage Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Anybody think CP can be talked into doing the same to Mean Streak? But Mean Streak is a top 10 wooden coaster.
kraxleRIDAH Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 1. "Project X" sounds even worse than "X". 2. Why would you want to make it look exactly like Riddler's Revenge?
GMAN962 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^At least it's theming! Anything would be better than the theming it has now. It makes almost no sense, to tell you the truth. And it wouldn't look like RRv,, Arrow tracks look totally different. I was just throwing colors around... -Mike
BarryH Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^It must have been a poll for "Top 10 worst wooden roller coasters."
coasterjunkie91350 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I thought of this cause it was what i think they were trying to pull off but the budget was really tight so they left it the way it is now.
ghost007jas Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 1. "Project X" sounds even worse than "X". 2. Why would you want to make it look exactly like Riddler's Revenge? 1. No need to be a jerk. 2. I think that sounds like a good name ( better than X anyway ) Maybe if they somehow threw some more overused Batman theming it would be better than its current state. I honestly think that Six Flags is done with spending money on this cash whore. They will probably just fix it and be done with it....
Xtreme-me Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I personally think that there is nothing wrong with the name "X" and its very appropriate for the ride because of its new technology. As for the whole "project X" thing, it would be cool but they already have a coaster in Black and Green and it would be extremely hard to paint X.
Sir Clinksalot Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^I was there Saturday afternoon/night and thought Ninja looked great. It occurred to me that one reason it is getting so much attention is because with the 42" height requirement, it is one of the more family friendly coasters at SFMM which fits right in with Shapiro's strategy and the rumors of a new family area in the section of the park. It's the ONLY family friendly coaster in the park. Besides Canyon Blaster and Goliath Jr, it's the only coaster somebody under 48" can ride. That's right, even GoldRusher is 48" (and the ride ops are particularly strict abou it).

I don't think you said it out loud to yourself to hear it. "Project X." Say it. Sounds horrible. What's to make a project out of anyway? X is fine the way it is. I don't believe the park is "done with spending money this cash whore." Aside from its poor capacity, it's arguably the most popular ride at the park among guests. However, I don't doubt the possibility that X takes may take the same route as Kings Island's Bat.
Wes Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Be nice, guys. That goes for everyone. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't X's (obviously fairly loose) theme something about Area 51 and a secret alien project? That's why the thing looks like a hanger.
kraxleRIDAH Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 ^ I don't think X ever had a specific theme, at least nothing Magic Mountain has disclosed via press release or anything. All that Area 51 mumbo jumbo was all enthusiast talk. I think the station house looking like an airplane hanger is strictly a coincedence. Wide trains = wide station = wide roof covering.

TatsuXtreme Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Now that Psyclone is gone, here is my "To Do" list for SFMM In no Particular order: -Paint Goliath (it seriously looks like crap) -Paint X -Update Deja's line -Paint Colossus -Remove Flashback -Expand Hurricane Harbor to where Flashback is now -Update the flippin rides in Bugs Bunny World already, seriously, some of those rides arn't even fun, even for a kid, and they all look like crap. It is seriously the most pathetic attempt at a family themed area i have ever seen. -Either, theme Scream! as some kind of Parking lot Cops type of thing, or remove the parking lot already, spread some Nerds under it or something!! -Make sure all rides stay well maintained, that means inspecting the tracks each morning (which i doubt that they do.) -Get Employees more into their job, make them interact with guests more, and pleasently, seriously, it dosn't make the visit that enjoyable when the employees act like they dont even want to be there, let alone be around you. -Shorten Goliath's line, its seriously like a half a mile walk to the station, its rediculous, it isn't that crowded anymore. -Make sure Tatsu is always running at least 3 trains, both sides. -Make sure that X is always running at least two trains some of this stuff might already be in the works, but i would love to see it happen/
elbertivory2006 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I am surprised myself. I wonder what they are going to build next? What ever it will be I sure wont be finished til next season. I bet its a new coaster though.
TatsuXtreme Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 i really do not want them to build another roller coaster for a while. they need to wait at least 2-3 years. get what they have looking and working good before they get more.
ghost007jas Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 i really do not want them to build another roller coaster for a while. they need to wait at least 2-3 years. get what they have looking and working good before they get more. That is really starting to sound like a broken record... we all know exactly what they need to do. Now its all up to Shapiro and the Six Flags crew to execute perfectly. Even with new kids areas I think it will take a good five years to get familys out to the park again. I doubt my family will ever go to Magic Mountain together due to its poor reputation for gangs and the like.... So they need to work on the bad reputation that they have as being the 'gang park' in order to get families there... Think about it would you taker your five year old to a place where you were afraid he/she might get shot?
kraxleRIDAH Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 It's perfectly understandable why a lot of parents don't like visiting Magic Mountain. Not so much that it's "teen infested" but mostly due to the major incidents that involved a shooting in the parking lot and a stabbing in a queue line (mind you this was YEARS ago). I certainly see time being a factor in turning Magic Mountain around again.
daveydo5172 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I was at Magic Mountain 6 times last year. I never really felt it to be any worse than say Knotts is when it comes to "gangs". Of course, I only visited the park once during the summer, I prefer the off season when its less crowded and colder.
ghost007jas Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 No need to be so sensitive. I don't think you said it out loud to yourself to hear it. "Project X." Say it. Sounds horrible. Sorry, was a bit testy when I wrote that I suppose. I could not dis agree that the ride is the most popular in the park. But I am quite sure that Six Flags did not anticapate spending so much on a ride that was originally priced far less. They honestly don't have the money for this kind of crap to be happening to their rides (not that they could have afforded X at its original price either hehe). I pity Six Flags...it seems all the bad stuff happens to them
ghost007jas Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I have to agree that the park is not as bad as it is made out to be. However the view on the park is that people are consistently shot in the parking lot (funny how these rumors start). So whether or not these rumors hold true they are going to keep people out of the park with this kind of reputation....
