All the Six Flags parks are announcing their 2014 attractions on August 29th.

So since LA Unified School District is back in session now (first day of school was yesterday, much earlier than years past) do you guys think the crowds will be a bit lighter for the rest of the month? I usually avoid heading down to SFMM during the summer because of how busy it gets, but I can't wait to ride FT much longer.

If school has started in LA and Santa Clarita and if you go on a weekday when they have school, the crowds will be lighter, but I would double check to make sure they're all back in school because the park gets quite crowded in August.

Im suprised though that we have not had any hints or rumors drop yet, given that by this time last year we had a ton of "rumors"... Seems chain wide issue too.

I think X2 is gunna be re-tracked, with wood! Yes, it'll be transformed into a wooden coaster, still with the X2 trains of course.

I'm sure it'll be smooth as glass!

I'm sure the crowds will be lighter, but I'm sure the weekends and Labor Day weekend will be a whole different story.

I know I'm double posting in this thread, but curious--Superman Escapes, why did they change it for the launch to go backwards? I know they removed Superman from the top because people kept throwing their gum on him.

They probably removed him because with the train backwards the riders wouldn't be able to see him.

I'm not sure if I like the revamped version. In three weeks I'll know.

That's not really a fair criticism. It was three brand new coaster experiences to the park. YOLOCoaster's marketing was much more of a stretch than that campaign.

I actually really like Superman: Escape from Krypton now. Feels much faster than it ever has. Maybe it's the wind blowing the right way when I've rode lately. LOL

Plus, little did we know at the time, but there was a whole renovation of the Superman tower planned that completely made it relevant again. They did a great job with it.

I was on my way home from Vegas today and getting on the 91W from the 15S about 7 minutes on I noticed these brown supports (Corona area heading West which is toward Knotts and both Six Flags parks). For those not from CA the distance is about 25 mins to Knotts, 80 mins to Magic Mtn and about 7 hours to SFDK. I realize these could be for anything, BUT I cant think of anything other than a coaster where you would use brown as a primary color for a support.

 

If by all means you know what these are please let me know.

It's actually quite a bit better. Now if only they could "revamp" the air conditioning in the queue.

They do look like ride supports but I seriously doubt they are because I don't think there is a park looking to build a ride just in time for the off season.

I totally agree. Even if they were a different color I still thought they looked like them. We shall see.

They do look like ride supports but I seriously doubt they are because I don't think there is a park looking to build a ride just in time for the off season.

 

Don't some water parks like to build during the off season? They could be used for a water slide of some sort. And for the record, I don't think they're for a park either, i'm just throwing some ideas out there.

They could be for Six Flags Magic Mountain. After all, it probably would take them this long to build anything of considerable size for 2014 and get it open by summer.

Those could be for almost anything. While I wouldn't be surprised if they were for an amusement park, there are plenty of things that use supports other than coasters.
