Um, seriously? Anything sounds better than a multi-launch coaster with an OMG Loop of Death and an airtime hill ON TOP of the OMG Loop of Death? That kind of coaster isn't exactly my cup of tea, but it looks crazy fun.

I understand that we're all entitled to our own opinions, but - does it really leave that much of a bad taste in your mouth just because it's not the 7500-foot long Intamin coaster everyone and their grandmas wanted?

I'm not mad because it's not an Intamin, I'm not that happy since it's another gimmick coaster that's just there to give Magic Mountain more records. It looks like a nice coaster, but I don't think it really was needed at the park. The park could have at least given the ride some more to it instead of killing it right after the top hat.

I'm just glad that the top hat loop is a thing now. You know why? Because whoever decides to build the next one will probably take the concept and further realize its potential. Not unlike the non-inverting loop. Rip Ride Rockit led to Shock at Rainbow MagicLand, and the Premier took the element and used it on SUF.

I'm just such a huge fan of the concept.

Here is my explanation as to why Full Throttle is so dissapointing:

If it were announced at a smaller park like Michigan's Adventure, Valleyfair, or CGA everyone would probably be excited about it. Those parks do not have the major budgets larger parks do.

SFMM, however, is not a small park. It is the park with the most coasters in the world. So, they clearly have the budget to build large rides, but they do not. They go for the cheapest possible design that can still provide enough gimmicks. It is because SFMM's GP does not care. If Cedar Point did this, it probably would not be as popular, as the Cedar Point GP are generally a bit more demanding.

Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it chain wide, they are doing cuts?

I don't get that logic. To me a coaster is either fun or its not, regardless of what park it opens in.

And since my #1 steel coaster in California is a gimmick ( a shuttle looper), the gimmick thing doesn't bother me either.

The ride looks fun, which is what I expect when I show up to ride.

Also, to cap my point from earlier, I have another reason as to why Full Throttle dissapoints many people, including myself. It is the multiple launch gimmick. On just about every other double or triple-launcher built so far, having multiple launches is not just treated as a marketing gimmick. They are also used to make for a longer ride than a single launch could muster. However, Full Throttle has a ride length that could easily be covered in a single launch. The second launch is somewhat of a gimmick, and the third is only needed for a single hill. By comparison, it is a bit more acceptable that single launch coasters, like Xcelerator, can be more gimmicky, but coasters with multiple launches seem to have somewhat of a purpose, that being long rides.

Full Throttle will not a be a bad ride. In fact, I could even give some arguments as to why it could be the best ride in the park. But, that does not hide the dissapointment from the community, hoping for a "real" multi launch coaster.

^ Agreed. In fact I thought that YOLOcoaster would have been SFMMs and Premiers version of Projekt Helix at Liseberg (Airtime and Inversions [A concept that SFMM doesn't get]). But instead they went if a gimmicky "triple" launch coaster with a big a$$ loop with a top hat. I think we won't see a airtime machine at SFMM for ALONG time (I'm hoping Iron Horse Collossus will be it as they can't just fill that ride with inversions and no hills)l

That's really my only complaint about the coaster (other than capacity), is that I wish there was an overbank turn after the hill or something to give it some kind of finally.

The coaster could have been so much more no doubt. But I still think comments like "anything is better than Yolocoaster" are quite over dramatic.

That's my opinion too because in a way most coasters could be considered a gimmick and that's what makes the GP and enthusiast visit the park. I understand all of the complaints about full throtle (found away around the full throttle filter ) and how it should have been more like project helix but at least SFMM is getting a new coaster and also a cool new themed area (cue the six flags theming jokes) which I hope is really great. One more thing, is it possible to have lights built in the coaster track in the loop as part of a light show/light element, just an idea but the way I'm imaging it would be really cool.

Agree that it probably won't be a bad ride. But it would be 10x better if they'd added another 600ft of track following the top hat, just to finish the ride off nicely.

Yep, my sentiments exactly. I'm sure I'm going to like it, I just wish it had more after the 'top hat' element rather than abruptly coming to a stop.

I was at Magic Mountain two weeks ago and I really liked it.

Viper- my favorite ride, probably because it reminds me of the Great American Scream Machine.

X2- also an awesome ride, but a little rough.

Riddlers Revenge- much better then chang.

Revolution- they need to take off the over the shoulder harnesses

Goliath- eh kinda boring.

Batman- as always awesome!

Colossus- colossus is such a massive, awesome coaster.

Scream- bizarro is better.

Green lantern- Fun, but too short.

^they're already half way there, just look at scream

Is it me, or is the new "themed" area sound 100X more exciting than the YOLOcoaster?

I agree. I'm looking forward to a new light show area.

Also I've been following the coaster guy for awhile and he is really up on his Magic Mountain information.

Well, I am glad they are removing some of those worn out buildings. I did get a Dole Whip at What The Fried, and I felt greasy just standing in there. Very poorly planned food location, and I did complain via the survey about that location. I am looking forward to seeing if they can pull off a nice redesign of that area.

The Coaster Guy just posted a new trip report, which includes a behind the scenes look of a Coaster Wars filming session, a rather decent update on the new "mysterious" sling shot attraction, and other topics covered in his previous report.

Wasn't WTF a Johnny Rockets for the whole 10 minutes that partnership lasted?

A few twist and turns alongside the mountain (something along the lines of Maverick before the first airtime hill) would really do wonders for the ride, either after the loop or after the top hat. This coaster just really seems like it was just rushed to break their own coaster record.
