I have not even tried Vista as of yet, so I can't comment as to whether it's good or bad. But I always get a kick out of people who have to be "the first on their block" to have the latest stuff. Who knows how well Vista will run? No doubt there'll be a bug or fix sometime soon.

Microsoft says they'll support XP till April 2009, so I have some time.

All I know is we only sold 1 copy of the upgrade, and about 3 or 4 PCs with it pre-installed.

Another thing I know is, Im not gonna get it.

My XP works just fine.

Yeah, now that I see that Vista is having problems already (It's all over the news). I'm highly considering buying a Mac.

My iTunes is broken on my PC and won't uninstall. I deleted everything from my registry and it still won't uninstall. And from what I've heard from ya'll on here and my friends that have Macs, it sounds like they make life just so much more easier.

Now the only question is, which one should I get. I'm on a budget of $1500. And I need something that runs most 3D Games smoothly (Sims 2, RCT3, etc, etc)

Later duddddes.

I seen ol' Billy Gates on the Jay Leno show (I think that was the one) talking about vista...nothing he described about the program made me wanna go and drop $200-$300 on it, so I'll stick with XP...

What are you trying to get? an apple laptop or a desktop?

and it does make life sooooooo much easier...

...Unless you are in engineering. Macs and engineering don't mix.

Vista is proven to be slower than XP so I know I won't get it as of yet. All I know is that I love Microsoft Office 2007, so I'm sure Vista won't disappoint after most of the bugs are fixed.

The interfaces are really looking awesome but looks like they're kinda

bit hard for XP users since they are really complex system.

Anyway, hopefully Vista users would get used to brand-new PC.

I would never use window’s Vista, it just sucks and they are trying to get everything to go Vista. Right now I have hotmail and it’s vista style and personally it sucks and I hate it. Just be careful when you are loading updates on aim and stuff like that because you might end up with vista.. I’m sticking with my XP

I thinks its pretty obvious why Macs are more stable, there is very limited hardware for the system, and its manufactured exclusively by apple, the makers of the software, it like if Microsoft had complete control of the PC platform, which they don't, hardware wise anyway

As for windows Vista, I wouldn't be the first to get it, but I'm certian it will be better than xp, which actually has been a ALOT better than 98/ME, which had some serious fatal flaws, which xp does not have

I love macs as well, but like the flexibility of the PC platform, they can just do alot more due to the enormous market share.

and no one here fool yourself, no compuer is completely free from problems, my Mother in law uses a mac, and it does freeze on occation, it just happens sometimes.

On the Itunes front, our main PC, which has Corina's Itunes stuff will not load Itunes at all, I have no idea what happened, but the computer really nees to be cleaned out anyway, I may just buy a new hard dirve and reinstall xp, but not vista, yet

I was messing with it at Best Buy today and all in all its just a re-theme of XP. Yes it has better security and more features but its nothing like the jump from 98 to XP. I may upgrade, but not anytime this year.

Ordered Vista Ultimate and it'll take about a week. I ran the Upgrade Advisor and my computer seems to meet the requirements. All my devices seem to have Vista drivers too so shouldn't be too bad. Will let you know it all goes.

i have Enterise running on my laptop and I have been very satisfied with the upgrade. Checked the system beforehand and had no problem getting compatible drivers. The security features alone make it worth the effort.

Also, contrary to popular belief, Vista is re-engineered from the ground up and built on .NET 3.0.

I really don't have a preference anymore with regards to which OS I use. The thing that creeps me out about Microsoft is all the validation, and DRM business. Other than that, if it opens a browser to get to TPR, I am a happy camper.

^^From what I have read, Vista is not 100% new from the ground up. It uses .NET 3.0 framework along with the Win32 stuff. The next version after Vista is supposed to be the first Microsoft OS that is really "all new."

Sorry to ruin the Mac-PC war on OS's and GUI's. Xerox was the inventor of the first true GUI, Xerox was like a rich man always leaving his windows and doors unlocked, just letting apple and microsoft steal from them and encouraging those chances.

and TRUST me, I am a MAC fan

P.S. I did my research and this was true, it happened in the mid-80's with Macintosh and Windows 2.0+

P.S.S even more, here's a link to prove it! http://toastytech.com/guis/star.html

It's funny how people say Macs are better than PCs and they don't even know why. They just jump on the bandwagon. The best reason I've heard is "It doesn't crash" and "It's pretty". Well if you know how to run a computer properly it won't crash and you can download skins. I guess macs are like a computer with training wheels.

Posted

^ That's the problem with Windows so far. To "run a computer properly", as you put it, is nearly impossible for most ordinary people. People open a bad email attachment, oops they got a virus that destroys all their files. People don't run system maintenance, oops their hard drive crashes. People try to perform something a bit complex, oops blue screen of death.

Not everyone has the time or will to devote to updating the virus definitions and defragging their C drive.

^^A sleek design and a no hassle OS that generally doesn't crash isn't a good reason to buy a computer?

(Sorry, I'm no good with the quote thingy- whoever mentioned DRM)

^my thoughts exactly.

The main reason I chose not to get Vista is because of the DRM thing. I don't know if it would affect anything I do, but I just thing it's wrong. Plus, I've heard nothing but bad things about it since it came out.

Im looking to buy a new computer in the near future, and I realize it may have Vista on it. I don't see a need for me to get rid of XP, I like XP and I have heard bad things from Vista. I don't know since I haven't played with Vista, but If its on my new computer I will see what it can do.

Pretty much everyone knows about the PARC project and it's "contributions" to modern computer. The only reason that Xerox got into the game in the first place was because they were scared s**tless of a paperless world. The GUI, Mouse and Ethernet were just some really groovie byproducts.

Yeah so I have a different opinion on vista. My mom just bought a new computer for my family and it came with windows vista. Well I thought it was gonna be horrible when it turns out, it really isn’t all that bad. It takes some getting use to be but all in all its ok.
