  1. The concept art looks like it was a middle school art project.
  2. Personally, I don't think that plan is anything more than a very "wild" rumor. I wouldn't read too much into it. It even contradicts itself: they want to close down 22 acres of the park, but demolish old, unused structures?!? It's also very counter-productive to cost saving, since demolishing/removing stuff isn't exactly cheap. Unless they also plan to leave those shuttered rides SBNO, which again contradicts what they are supposedly against.... Then again, it is Six Flags, and this is just a rumor, so who knows....
  3. ^^Sweden is still way cooler than South Korea. The awesome thing is that these pictures don't even show the whole construction site. I wish I took a pananoma of the entire construction site, since the "El Toro" part continues on past that second crane...it's going to be a huge ride!
  4. The "new" flashback stuff looks like queue stuff from Fright Fest they haven't thrown back in the warehouse yet...
  5. ^^IIRC, it takes 3 people with the auxillary panel being used.
  6. Those CBS trucks are ginormous. Saw them at NAB a few years ago...they are nicer than most local TV station control rooms.
  7. ^He should be b*tch-slapping the producers, not the writers.
  8. Just what KBF needs: another low capacity coaster and more of the charm taken away.
  9. <---Praying for Ron Howard in the preshow.
  10. Reports all say that the networks have been stockpiling scripts to prepare (sucks for those writers...they had to write the material that helps networks overcome a strike!), but other unions (such as the teamsters--who transport everything) may honor the picket lines and screw up productions even more.
  11. ^That's what is crazy about all these prospects now. Their cards are going for more than lots of HoF players just based on hype or a good rookie year! For example, I bought a Ryan Braun autograph card before this season began for $20...it's now a $100-$150 card. The same $100 got me Gary Carter, Ozzie Smith, and Dave Winfield near mint graded rookie cards. I believe a rookie card for a 19 year old single A pitcher (Fernando Martinez of the Mets) just went for $1,500 on ebay as well...
  12. I don't get the obsession for The Thing maze. Not a single scare to be had for our group. A couple of cool set pieces doesn't make up for a complete lack of scares IMO. Psycho Scareapy was my favorite, with Dead Silence a close second (got my only scare of the night in the hallway with all the dolls in their cases---creepy!). Hollywood got the better version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre (3 Leatherfaces at the end?!?) and Friday the 13th (loved the barrel scare---and that was about it). Nightmare on Elm Street was awesome. Jacks was extremely average, but the talent was doing a good job. Vampyre sucked ass. The biggest thing was the lack of scare zones. It felt like being at USF during the day, but with mazes. Couldn't get immersed in the atmosphere, which was a bummer.
  13. Bumping this thread to see if there are any collectors out there. Lately I can't stop buying those young prospect cards I ranted about---because there's money to be made off them! So now I will buy a prospect card, sell it, then use the money to buy a HOF rookie card. Picked up a Drysdale rookie that way. Working on getting a Koufax one now.
  14. Go with business management and get yourself a summer job (WDW college program?) at a park. Operations management usually focuses more on logistics stuff and your schools recreation and tourism management probably focuses more on summer camp/national park/etc. type things. My number piece of advice: work at a park before deciding it is what you want to spend the rest of your life doing. It isn't always easy or fun.
  15. If public schools are out for winter break, they will be packed. If not, you'll be OK.
  16. Id also like to add that when you post: ...Followed by: That you either fail miserably at sarcasm, or just posted something as "immature, uncalled for and unnecessary" as namecalling could ever be. I'd say that you should consider that, along with what Bob said, if you don't wish to wear out your welcome here like you have at other sites. And now back to the regularly scheduled topic?
  17. ^Not if it was as pointless and crappy as this one... Continue discussion here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39509
  18. The bigger question is...has anyone ever heard of the site conducting the poll?
  19. You are correct. As Elissa mentioned...this is an old issue. I remember reading in an article the last time it came up that Segways are not classified as "disability equipment" under the ADA, so these groups complaining have no legal ground to stand on. Everyone talks about Segways on the midways, but I'm guessing the parks are more concered with everything else: Segways in queues, ride loading areas (ride ops have to start driving them to move them?), WDW resort transportation, bathrooms, restaurants, etc. I'm guessing it would be a huge undertaking to make sure everything continues to operate smoothly and properly accommodate Segways, so why do it for such a small group if you legally don't have to?
  20. The last thing New Orleans needs at the moment is an amusement (or water) park...
  21. ^^Wait, you mean roller coasters break down and you actually have to work? OH NO!!!
  22. How can you compare something you haven't experienced? BTW, doing both HHN's on consecutive nights sounds like a great idea. I may have to try it sometime...
  23. I think it's kind of nice to have an area of the park that is completely Halloween free. Sort of like an escape for guests. Sure it takes a little away from the atmosphere, but I am guessing most guests appreciate having a "break area" so to speak. Plus, if the location doesn't allow for something to be done at "Universal quality" levels, I'd rather them just leave it then do something half ass like fake cobwebs. I think the big thing to remember about this HHN is that it is only two years old. Sure they did HHN in the past, but that obviously failed---so it's like starting all over again. If this is what year 2 has to offer, I can't wait to see what future years will have in store! They very well may put mazes back in the soundstages/tram garage/level 7 of frankenstein parking (all previous maze locations), put a new show in Waterworld (IIRC, Bill & Teds took place in WaterWorld back in the day), change HoH every year, etc...but at the end of the night, Universal still has to be fiscally responsible. If you believe the rumors, one of the things that sunk the previous HHN was how expensive it was to produce---so I personally appreciate the fact they are taking "baby steps" each year to ensure it keeps getting better and better.
  24. ^Even fog and/or dim lighting would be pushing it...I know if I was in charge, I wouldn't want stairs to have fog or dim lighting. As far as the "old" tram goes...it was cool, but I can imagine the logistical nightmares and costs associated with not getting in the way of the actual studios business. I think it's awesome people get to walk the sets, I just with they'd do more than just those sets. Add a "mini maze" somewhere on the hill or something.
