Taken from Screamscape. No idea if it is actually true. Perhaps someone local should try it out?

S:TE has to close in the rain because it will hydroplane. Unless there is lightning, the other rides will remain open (albeit with 1 train) until rain causes them to consistently overshoot the station (which happens at RRv, Goldrusher, and Goliath). At least that's how I remember it from working there.

Universal Orlando was (still is?) testing something similar using cell phones. Not sure how the system works, but I think Disney and Universal have a great idea! Especially for the things like wait times, downtimes, and fastpass times. Makes it much easier to get the most out of your day.

Why does Jim Tressel have to make scrambled eggs on a plate? Because if he used a bowl, he wouldn't be able to beat them.

Somewhere in the country, an ACEr just killed himself. How dare you desecrate those shirts! That's actually really cool. Way to be a Jew and get the maximum return on your investment. -
Even though I can totally understand why they want to close (no way are they going to get their numbers, plus a bad storm practically shuts down the park anyways), that's not exactly the best way to re-build the goodwill they are trying to win back. IMO, they Should have opened and waited for the storm to come (and offered comps to return: more parking and food money!), since it didn't start raining until after the park would have closed yesterday and I still haven't seen a drop of rain today...

Cypress Gardens has new managment
Jew replied to CoasterJunkie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The concept of Cypress Gardens is a good one: a "local" park in a market filled with all the big boys. But that's also the problem. Cypress Gardens isn't even close to the level of the big boys in terms of quality (it's basically a permanent carnival), so locals just ignore it. We'll see what these guys do, but unless there is a HUGE commitment to making the park a real park and not a glorified carnival, they're done for. -
Haunted Mansion Goes PC

If this is true (which I doubt, since it is Jim Hill), they might run into union issues. Giving them acting classes and a script puts them dangerously close to AGVA. I know the Innoventions CM's get a pay bump because of their spieling, so that could be a roadblock to this rumor (if it's true). -

Using CF Maxx Passes at KBF
Jew replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Why is it a lame reason? Cedar Fair markets Maxx passes to those people who want to visit multiple parks in the chain, yet doesn't seem to have their act together when it comes to actually visiting those other parks! For Robb it would mean a 2 hour drive to possibly be turned away at the gate because CF can't do something as simple as printing an expiration date on their pass. Even Six Flags can get it right! I got into SFMM all season long with my SFA pass with no hassles, while I had to waste 10 minutes or more each visit to KBF waiting for my ticket with a CP pass... -
Using CF Maxx Passes at KBF
Jew replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^It's from Cedar Point. The expiration date of 3/31/08 is printed on the pass. Go figure. -
I can see Jet Stream being removed. It's maintenance costs have to be getting larger and larger every year. Just from when I worked there a pump was out, the station motor had to be replaced because it burned out, and the ride had to get an extensive reprogramming (that made things worse) due to a freak accident on the lift. Plus a mechanic has to come drain boats every hour. I think it's nearing the end of useful life (let the Aquatrax rumors begin).

Using CF Maxx Passes at KBF
Jew replied to KGA29's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^My CP Maxx pass clearly says it expires at the end of March. It's funny how even SF can get this right and Cedar Fair can't. Then again, at a park that gets 3,000,000+ people per year (KBF), they are only 2 cameras for AP's and the staff that covers them doubles as the GR staff. Last Friday the guy at the GR window even thought my Maxx pass was a CP employee I.D. So I'm not the least bit suprised their pass system is a mess... -
Roller Coaster On-board Sound Systems
Jew replied to spacemtfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Disney designs all their own rides and then contracts out the fabrication/construction. So my guess is someone at WDI designed a crappy sound system. -Joey "Mummy might be the lesser of the two rides, but its audio is definitely more reliable" Mandel
