  1. Taken from Screamscape. No idea if it is actually true. Perhaps someone local should try it out?
  2. S:TE has to close in the rain because it will hydroplane. Unless there is lightning, the other rides will remain open (albeit with 1 train) until rain causes them to consistently overshoot the station (which happens at RRv, Goldrusher, and Goliath). At least that's how I remember it from working there.
  3. Universal Orlando was (still is?) testing something similar using cell phones. Not sure how the system works, but I think Disney and Universal have a great idea! Especially for the things like wait times, downtimes, and fastpass times. Makes it much easier to get the most out of your day.
  4. Why does Jim Tressel have to make scrambled eggs on a plate? Because if he used a bowl, he wouldn't be able to beat them.
  5. This video reminds me of the T2:3D preshow.
  6. Get a life? More like they need to get a better marketing executive...
  7. ...Or perhaps the ride isn't as good as you want to believe. Maybe those "wusses" were on to something.
  8. ^He was probably too busy taking pictures of the bathroom.
  9. I think it's funny people give SFMM sh*t for having Panda Express in a Mexican themed area, yet it's "well done" at KBF in a Western themed area.
  10. Somewhere in the country, an ACEr just killed himself. How dare you desecrate those shirts! That's actually really cool. Way to be a Jew and get the maximum return on your investment.
  11. Even though I can totally understand why they want to close (no way are they going to get their numbers, plus a bad storm practically shuts down the park anyways), that's not exactly the best way to re-build the goodwill they are trying to win back. IMO, they Should have opened and waited for the storm to come (and offered comps to return: more parking and food money!), since it didn't start raining until after the park would have closed yesterday and I still haven't seen a drop of rain today...
  12. If you don't know about something, you probably shouldn't post about it. A boat didn't drop. Perhaps that is because they e-stopped the ride? Maybe. I don't know.
  13. The concept of Cypress Gardens is a good one: a "local" park in a market filled with all the big boys. But that's also the problem. Cypress Gardens isn't even close to the level of the big boys in terms of quality (it's basically a permanent carnival), so locals just ignore it. We'll see what these guys do, but unless there is a HUGE commitment to making the park a real park and not a glorified carnival, they're done for.
  14. If this is true (which I doubt, since it is Jim Hill), they might run into union issues. Giving them acting classes and a script puts them dangerously close to AGVA. I know the Innoventions CM's get a pay bump because of their spieling, so that could be a roadblock to this rumor (if it's true).
  15. ^It's a drop slide, which Hurricane Harbor already has two of. So I'm guessing they are not going to go that route.
  16. Welcome to the site! For future reference, please use the edit button instead of double posting.
  17. "They ignored the signs and the attendant." Morons.
  18. I know if I was an engineer, I wouldn't want to put Flashback on my resume...
  19. ^Why is it a lame reason? Cedar Fair markets Maxx passes to those people who want to visit multiple parks in the chain, yet doesn't seem to have their act together when it comes to actually visiting those other parks! For Robb it would mean a 2 hour drive to possibly be turned away at the gate because CF can't do something as simple as printing an expiration date on their pass. Even Six Flags can get it right! I got into SFMM all season long with my SFA pass with no hassles, while I had to waste 10 minutes or more each visit to KBF waiting for my ticket with a CP pass...
  20. ^It's from Cedar Point. The expiration date of 3/31/08 is printed on the pass. Go figure.

    Question

^Apparently it gets its magic powers from a talking Dolphin. Or something like that.
  22. I can see Jet Stream being removed. It's maintenance costs have to be getting larger and larger every year. Just from when I worked there a pump was out, the station motor had to be replaced because it burned out, and the ride had to get an extensive reprogramming (that made things worse) due to a freak accident on the lift. Plus a mechanic has to come drain boats every hour. I think it's nearing the end of useful life (let the Aquatrax rumors begin).
  23. ^^^My CP Maxx pass clearly says it expires at the end of March. It's funny how even SF can get this right and Cedar Fair can't. Then again, at a park that gets 3,000,000+ people per year (KBF), they are only 2 cameras for AP's and the staff that covers them doubles as the GR staff. Last Friday the guy at the GR window even thought my Maxx pass was a CP employee I.D. So I'm not the least bit suprised their pass system is a mess...
  24. Disney designs all their own rides and then contracts out the fabrication/construction. So my guess is someone at WDI designed a crappy sound system. -Joey "Mummy might be the lesser of the two rides, but its audio is definitely more reliable" Mandel
