  1. Considering Elissa responded to this thread and left it here, I would say no. We are talking about a theme park concession item, so I agree with her decision.
  2. I'm in. The last cruise was awesome, and this ship is even bigger!
  3. ^You got me. I've never worked at a theme park in my life. I don't know anything. There's a big difference between "needs to be replaced" and "should be replaced." It sounds like PURE was trying to say that the brakes at Viper should be replaced, not that they truly needed to be replaced. No matter how large or expensive a part is, if the manufacturer of the ride says it has to be replaced at a certain time, there is no way around it. If the brakes at Viper are worn down, but within their operating tolerance, there's no problem. They "should" be replaced to stay ahead of the curve, but no one is breaking any rules. If they are past what Arrow deems to be the safe operating tolerance, which would mean that they "need" to be replaced, there is something fishy going on. As you the apparent amusement industry expert (and PURE, the mechanic who probably had to do some of the paperwork) should know, everything is supposed to be documented and following the manufacturers guidelines. That's how I read the post. But PURE clarified, so I thought it was a dead issue.
  4. ^My understanding is that all these new parks are more like the deal OLC has with Disney than Universal owning and operating the parks. Hell, they don't even have majority ownership in USJ anymore.
  5. New Universal park+Everland Intamin woodie=
  6. Who knew Miami still played football? They are so 2000. Thankfully the two stadiums I care about (Dodger Stadium and the Coliseum) are still in use. The only defunct stadiums I've been to were awful: the old Anaheim stadium (multi purpose donut stadiums=FAIL) and Stanford's old stadium. I wish they would bulldoze Cal's Memorial stadium, but that's another story... I went to the last USC home game at the Sports Arena too, but I only had tears of joy after the game. Sports Arena=worst arena ever.
  7. It would be one thing if this was just a video for your family or something private, but I am totally with Robb on this one. You work for a TV station, right? Imagine if another station borrowed your footage for their newscast without asking, but still gave you some credit. It's still your stations money that paid for the production, your stations exclusive that's no longer exclusive, your stations advertising money earned because you get exclusives that might be lost, etc. It's nice that you gave credit, but I definitely would have asked first. Imagine if we could bootleg movies if we just put a 'courtesy of paramount pictures' in the DVD menu!
  8. I don't need to know exactly what goes on in Viper's day-to-day operation to know what is required of a park under state law. Either you are giving your opinion that the brakes need to be replaced and SFMM is still meeting the operating guidelines, or something would appear to be wrong if "the brakes need to be replaced." Since apparently you know everything about what is going on at Viper (and the laws that govern the amusement industry in CA), please do share your information with us. It's a pretty bold statement to make to say that the "brakes need to be replaced." I am also pretty sure that the members of TPR would like to know that the ride they are going on is safe. So again, share with us these things you know. Or is it that "you don't know what's going on with the rides nearly as much as you'd like to think you do."?
  9. You can do the research yourself, but I can say with 100% certainty that if SFMM was not doing the required maintenance as specified by Arrow, the ride would not get certified by the state to operate.
  10. If "over half" the brakes needed to be replaced, the ride legally should not be open. So I hope you have some sort of proof to back up such a strong accusation.
  11. The "future building" on the right became a warehouse. As a random sidenote, the forest mural on the wall of the warehouse actually has a hidden bigfoot painted on it. The barn never made it over there, as it is still across the street. The "Kid's Coaster Flume" is roughly going to be the "Pony Express" area. From the layout of that, it looks like this drawing might have been the inspiration for Pony Express.
  12. In no particular order... Audi RS4 BMW M6 Nissan GTR Mercedes SLR roadster And for the obligatory american muscle car/I would kill myself car: Hennessey Venom 1000 Viper
  13. I bet your resume is sure to impress. Whatever you do, just find one thing and stick with it.
  14. ^IAAPA is an industry only trade show. It is also only going to be held in Orlando when on the east coast, and Las Vegas when on the west coast.
  15. So yeah, over the course of the TPR Japan trip, I managed to catch two baseball games and get to a third dome after the game had ended. The first one was in the Yahoo! Dome in Fukouka and the other was in the Tokyo Dome with Jeff, Dan, and Tom. Me and Dan ventured over to the Nagoya Dome, only to find that the game was over and the dome was practically abandoned. I don't remember who was playing in the first game, but the second one was the Giants vs. Carp. I only remember the outcome of the second game, which was Giants 7-1 over the Carp. The style of play is much more "small ball" oriented, but the experience is AWESOME. Imagine the atmosphere of a college football game, but brought to a baseball game (without the idiotic drunk people). There are fan cheering sections that have organized chants for players, good plays, hits, etc. Even the visiting teams have them! No booing, and neither cheering section disrespects the opposing team or fans. Plus they get really excited for the possibility of a home run. The domes themselves were very much like the domes here. Nothing amazing. The Yahoo! Dome did however have a Wendy's with an awesome curry burger. The coolest part about the Tokyo Dome was leaving. But not because it sucked...it's an air supported dome, so when they opened the door to let more people out (at first there was just a few revolving doors to go through), a HUGE gust of wind pushes you out. The drink girls were also very impressive. They have keg backpacks to sell the beer, plus other chicks bringing by every drink you could imagine. If you're a sports fan, I HIGHLY recommend catching a Japanese baseball game if you ever get the chance. japanball.com can help you figure things out. Giants game pictures to come tomorrow. Tokyo Dome at night. Nagoya Dome three hours after a baseball game inside had ended. Boxscore. Exciting, I know. These dudes were out there dancing for the 7th inning stretch too. Giant inflatable man came out of center field during the 7th inning stretch. Beer lady. I wish Dodger Stadium had these! The view from our $10 bleacher seats. Home team cheering section. Visiting team cheering section. The scoreboard reminded me where I was. The Yahoo! Dome.
  16. I hope the "electronic" restraint system is a better design than Deja Vu's...not going to help anything if it is as poorly designed as Deja Vu's was.
  17. http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/?p=1002 Removal of Granny Gran Prix pretty much confirms the Thomas Town location. Other thoughts: -With Spin Out removed, there will be a nice chunk of free space in that corner there if they also remove the Dragon Station. -Sierra Twist and Circus Wheel locations seem like future food and retail locations, given their small footprints. -Can't do much with Freefall's space. Possibly a new drop tower if they redesign the area to accomodate a bigger Q.
  18. ^The ride can only run 3 trains at a time, but having a back up is always good. IIRC from working there when Magic still had trains that didn't need required maintenance SFMM couldn't do, only Goliath was a bigger people eater with three trains. Riddlers was a close 3rd.
  19. I was only able to do... USH SFMM KBF Disneyland DCA Pacific Park USF IoA Sea World Orlando SFGADv SFA Cedar Point Galaxy 999 LaQua Yomiuriland Space World Uminonakamichi Mitsui Greenland Kijima Harmonyland Wonder Rakutenchi Central Park Kurashiki Tivoli Park Universal Osaka Parque Espana Nagashima Spaland Hamanako Pal Pal Lagunasia Fuji - Q Sea Paradise Cosmoworld Tokyo Disneyland Disneysea Joypolis Hanayashiki Toshimaen LotteWorld Tongdo Fantasia Gyeongju World Woobang Towerland Kumdoriland Everland Seoul Land Childrens Grand Park Dreamland Plus the OC Fair and Del Mar Fair if major fairs count. Guess I just don't have as much free time.
  20. I was under the impression that Viper has always had four trains. I remember seeing four when I worked there too. But just like Goldrusher and Ninja used to have 4 trains, over time the extra train(s) had to become parts. Guess they finally got that 4th one back online. Magic used to have a gutted train from another arrow looper that sat in the boneyard behind Psyclone for a long time (red with a stripe of stars across the middle) that was sold to a private collector a few years ago too...
  21. ^Nope. What's the castle look like during the day?

  23. .85 cent sodas? There's only 3 places I know of in the park with cheap soda, none of which are guests areas. Correct me if I am wrong.
