  1. ^Bombardier bought the assets of Universal Mobility.
  2. One thing I heard during the construction of SFMM's is that Vekoma built all the rides electrical systems with parts approved in Europe, but not for the U.S., so everything had to be redone using parts approved for use here. I wonder if that is part of the reason why Spanish Deja Vu runs better?
  3. ^^Weren't those underwater?
  4. With Thomas Town, the emphasis is on the brand and not the rides. Which I think is a great supplement for Bugs Bunny World (where the emphasis is more on the rides and less on the theme). As long as the land is well done (Tim Burkhart claimed that it will be better than Gotham City was), kids will still eat it up.
  5. He must have gotten sooooooo many more hours of sleep than you guys did.
  6. Very cool! Congrats!
  7. ^Well, generally a cities redevelopment agency is in place for things like this. So the money is already there being used for the purpose it was designated for. That's not a new tax. Best use of the money? That's up for debate. But it sounds like the new taxes would tax developers and tourists. Hardly taxing the residents of Santa Clara. Plus, if the stadium is able to host a Super Bowl or two...it will have practically paid for itself just from that weekend.
  8. ^Did you read the article? It's a hotel tax, which means the money is coming out of tourists pockets. Also, if Cedar Fair gets what they are asking for...it's easy money for them. How is that bad for the park?
  9. Robb should make his new career playing wheel of fortune slots on cruise ships!
  10. Who do you think they are, Knott's?
  11. ^Correct.
  12. ^I really have to say that this post sums up what I thought about the park. Being a former employee of the park (I spoke to you after the Q&A) during the dark times I'm as big a critic of SFMM as anyone...and I have to say I was VERY impressed with everything yesterday! It's even more impressive that you came on here to reach out to the forum as a whole! The park clearly went above and beyond to make sure we had the best possible day we could, and if that passion is how things are going to be all the time at SFMM...the future looks very bright! Thank you to SFMM and Robb and Elissa for another great event!
  13. Paint it random colors like copper and green, use the giant carousel theater building for corporate sponsorships, and add an awesome high speed ride on the peoplemover track.
  14. I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't find the humor in something like that...
  15. It's 60 inches for the front seat only. The remaining seats are still at 40 inches.
  16. I don't see "giving away the gate" as a huge problem. Buy a day, get a year free is a growing trend. USH and the Busch parks also offer it, yet still manage to stay financially sound and keep higher quality levels. The key with "giving away the gate" is giving people a reason to come back. Parks make their profit in food, parking, premium experiences (flashpass, VIP tour, character dining, etc.). They come once with their discount (or cheap pass), and hate the place...you've lost them. You impress them and you have them coming back again to pay for parking, buy more food, etc. Oh, and to whomever asked about building additional parks: I would guess that those international parks would be licensing deals (easy money). No way would they spend money to build a new park on their own.
  17. I find Vegas fascinating. The new construction just adds to the allure, since everyone is trying to 1-up each other. Which is totally awesome, because it means Circus Circus is near the end of its life now that the north end of the strip has become a hot spot. btw, I recommend vegastodayandtomorrow.com for Vegas project info.
  18. ^Ryan: Just because you have been on some TPR trips doesn't mean you are a moderator. Perhaps you should be studying instead. Welcome to the site: This topic has already been discussed: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39509&highlight=rockin+space+mountain Please use the search function before posting a new topic.
  19. ^You'll appreciate it more when you turn 21. I personally love having so many options for gambling, eating, and drinking. It makes things cheaper. I hated Vegas before I was old enough to fully enjoy what it has to offer.
  20. Welcome to the site: As Mike pointed out to you in another thread, using the search function and searching for SFMM will yield all sorts of information. Photo trip reports, news, POV's of the rides, etc. Please be sure to search for the information you need before asking questions here.
  21. The project name probably has a very loose connection to the ride...I wouldn't read too much into it. Afterall, The Simpsons ride was "project fish" (which probably came from the 3-eyed fish, but who would have guessed that connection before the ride was announced?)
  22. Alcohol cures all weather issues in Vegas. I love a town where you can be one of only like 100 tourists walking around the strip at 3AM on a Wednesday morning with a bottle of beer when it's 25 degrees outside.
  23. There's a page for Wet N' Wild on Universal Orlando's website: http://www.universalorlando.com/wetnwild.html I'm pretty sure they still own the park.
  24. To be fair, mechanics and ride operators see things from a completely different point of view. I've seen over runs at RRv, B:TR, Goliath, S:TE, Goldrusher, and Freefall (plus heard about more) caused by rain that mechanics see as not a problem because mechanically nothing is wrong (which is true). But at the same time, it's also outside of what operators see on a daily basis as normal operations... Life threatening? Probably not. But you can never say never, so it's always better to operate on the side of caution.
