  1. ^ We were there briefly yesterday afternoon. The park looked and SMELLED fantastic! It was fairly busy, but not nearly as bad as I expected - and wait times were minimal for the rides. David
  2. I'm sure it is brutal, but it looks really cool!
  3. In the winter, with the leaves off of the trees, I am pretty sure you can see DDD behind Mindbender. I think that is what you saw.
  4. Hey - thanks for the pictures! Glad it was better than anticipated!!
  5. Ooohhh - you're gonna burn for that
  6. I was there Wednesday (froze my butt off, but the park was EMPTY.) My neice had never been, so we took her on all of the Coasters. I was the lucky one to take her on Gwazi. I just have to say, it just stinks that the ride has gotten so terrible. As I was having my spine readjusted, I was thinking that it really has a neat layout and could be fun, if it weren't so brutal. Oh well..... Cheetah hunt is still just tons of fun (except I lost my glasses somewhere on it,) and Kumba is still just freaking awesome. David
  7. Thank you for posting! I love the little "out of the way" kind of parks.
  8. Rode the one at Coney Island a couple of times. TONS of fun! I'm happy for the park - this is a reall neat flat ride.
  9. ^ Or texting with voice recognition. But back on topic: It will be a lot of fun watching this happen. I love watching projects come to fruition. Like the Banshee construction - it has been a lot of fun watching it go from groundbreaking to assembled. Now, hopefully, we can watch that with an entire park.
  10. ^ I was just going to post about Mindbender. That AMAZING Schwartzkopf roar through the loops. It is like "loud brain candy" for me. Kumba is also just awesomely loud. It fits with the theme and just makes the ride feel "wilder." Comparing that to rides like Talon and Hydra - night and day. The sand-filled rides are SO quiet - you don't really hear the trains, just the people screaming.
  11. Thanks so much for posting these Robb! Looks like an absolute BLAST. If you had to make a prediction, what kind of park do you see ordering one of these? Any thoughts?
  12. Well - Pleasant would Be Thunderation at SDC - was expecting a standard (but well themed) mine train. Thunderation turned out to be much more exciting and fun. Kumba - Was absolutely blown away the first time I rode it, and have been every time since. Carowinds Flyers - rode them the first time at Coasterstock. The Ride Op was singing "The Love Boat" and having us have a "snapping" competition. Finally learned how to "snap" a flyer. Carowinds Flyers.bmp Unpleasant Suprise: Millennium Force. All I remember is a really great drop, and then....nothing else. It just did not really leave an impression on me - and I feel that a 300 foot Intamin should kind of do that
  13. Totally Agree! I've never understood why people did not like it. I thought it was freaking amazing.
  14. ^ The Arrow trains, in my opinion, give a better ride. Mind you, "better" is subjective and it can still be quite brutal, but still....better
  15. Thanks for taking the time to post this! I was thinking about an RV kind of vacation next summer and your adventures are pushing me toward that decision.
  16. Definitely the most pronounced for me was I-305 - vision dimmed and seeing stars 2nd for me would be the last loop on Mindbender at SFoG - it kind of feels like I have been punched in the nose (not the pain of being punched, but the seeing stars part afterwards.)
  17. BAD Homo! BAD BAD BAD! I sentence you to 3 listens of the "Wicked" Soundtrack, and Hulu Watching of last year's Tonys, and Oscars telecasts!
  18. Thanks a ton for the very entertaining trip report. When I first rode the Voyage in 2007 on a TPR Trip, I had the same reaction that it seems that you did. It absolutely blew my mind! Later trips, it was in need of some re-tracking (which I've heard it has gotten) so it was pretty brutal. I still loved it (I can't help it, I'm a fanboy) but not as much as El Toro that same year. It is still, however, near the top of my list. When I first rode the Raven, I didn't "get" it either. It was fun, but I didn't get all the hype. Then.....I rode it at night. I'll agree with a previous poster that it became an entirely different beast after dark. It was pitch black in those woods and the trains were flying! Thanks again for the report!
  19. For me - Option 1 for the Twitter thing. I never use it on my phone, so it would be nice to see what you guys are tweeting.
  20. This should be interesting to follow. As far as the price, the cost of labor and such in Mexico is probably much lower than it is here. The US Dollar seems to stretch VERY far south of the border from what I know. Perhaps that is why it seems low. I have no idea if this is true or not, but that was my thought on it.
  21. I love Scandal, Arrow, Dr. Who, Downton Abbey, Criminal Minda and.... OMG - American Horror Story: Coven last night was just freaking out of this world. enough said
  22. Well one thing is for certain....we are going to have a grand old time speculating on this until it is officially announced In all seriousness though, good for them! I love to hear about smaller parks getting some great new rides.
  23. ^It is nice to read that. My partner wanted to watch this movie the other night (even though I said I had absolutely no interest in seeing it.) From what I saw before I went to sleep, they seemed to be blaming Sea World for the poor treatment of Killer Whales in the 70's and 80's. After reading about this movie and getting more detailed information here - I saw it for the very one-sided thing it was. I fell asleep half way through it. What I took from it....I would LOVE to be a Sea World Trainer!!! I'd do that in a second without hesitation. D.
  24. Disney World - 25minutes Universal Orlando - 25minutes Fun Spot America - 25 minutes The joys of living in Orlando And the runner up would be Busch Gardens Tampa at 1 hr.
  25. ^ word! I cannot wait for it, but at the same time I am terrified
