Knoebels Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I'm not a big fan of heavy laterals, so Twister isn't one of my favorites. Phoenix, on the other hand....bliss -
I remember when they did this back in the 80's. The Great Gasp was a Ginormous Christmas Tree. If I recall, the only rides open back then were the Looping Starship, Flying Dutchman, Freefall and Mindbender. Although this is a great announcement, and I am glad the park is doing things like this again; I am really ready for them to have an addition that really excites me. Skyscreamer - then a water park addition...although great for the families - not really doing it for me. I still love the park and if I am travelling through Atlanta with some time to spare I will go - but nothing in the past couple of years has made me want to make a trip there specifically to go to Six Flags, which I used to do every year.

Coasters and Open Heart Surgery

^Well I hope everything works out for you!! Follow Doctors orders and definitely listen to what your body is telling you. Welcome to the forums as well. We might not be cardiologists, but we are definitely passionate about parks and coasters and there is always something cool to read and see. D. -
^ And everyone knows you don't sue over Chicken McNuggits - you assault the employee!!! All jokes aside - I think all enthusiasts can hope for an opening day ride opening (Banshee anyone...?) but we should also all be aware that things can always come up. There was a SUPER BAD winter this year which could easily have caused delays. Down here in Florida, we don't really have that excuse - but Falcon's Fury is delayed as well. When building something this large, with this many moving peices - things just happen. And remember....Good Things Come to Those Who Wait!! D.

^ I think you will be happy with is as well. I'd recommend reading through this thread so you know some of the features that aren't immediately recognizable and to see how those of us who are down here are using them to their best advantage. Robb and Elissa have posted a TON of good information on how they work and how they use them, which helped me once I got mine David

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First - I have to say thanks to Robb and everyone else for sharing Media Day and Opening Day for those of us who could not be there!! Great pictures and just a psychotically huge crowd! Banshee looks great, and I am very glad that it is better than we were expecting! Can't wait to get up there and ride it. As far as the Beast.... I personally really really like it. I like the length, the fast - straightaways and the wooded setting. Is it top 10 for me? Nope. Do I think it is awesome? Yep. Are night rides better - OH HELL YES . Thanks again for the pictures and posts everyone!! David -
I have also heard the radio spots here in Orlando - just says opening soon, however. I was at the park last Thursday and there were a TON of people working in the Pantopia area, along with the Falcon's Fury construction / testing team. I'm willing to bet that the delay will be short and involves some fine tuning on the ride itself, and on the re-vamping of the surrounding area. They were already working on Landscaping, which is a good sign (there were a TON of plants moving around.) From what I could see - Pantopia is going to look GREAT and every time I look at Falcon's Fury - I am kind of astounded at how freaking scary it is going to be David

^ just letting you know that John and Bobby are also (besides being adoreable,) two of the NICEST people I have met on TPR trips.

Hanno - as always, AMAZING pictures and this ride looks amazing. To answer someone's question from earlier in this thread as to why this would be more likely to come to the U.S. - Bigger Seats = bigger guests and maintenance costs. -
Oh yeah - I'm watching!! It also just got renewed for 2 more seasons!!!

Welcome! We are glad you are here. If you are interested, early on in this thread - way back near it's beginning - we had a Trans member and she talked alot about it and about "coming out as trans." You might find it an interesting read. I think her username was AllieY2K. She is no longer a member of TPR - but still had some pretty great things to say. D

^I found a framed black-and-white of her at a thrift store years ago. She graces the wall of my dining room to this day! I get some Blondie watching me eat vibes!

Why Does Everybody Hate on Six Flags?
jynx242 replied to eltororider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow - interesting thread. In my opinion, there are a LOT of us around here that have been going to their local SF parks for years and even decades. We have seen what the parks were, and what they have become. My example: SFoG was my home park for about 30 years and I worked there in the 80's. I remember when there were a whole bunch of shows, flat rides and theming. I still love the park, but some of the decisions has made my heart ache. Slow removal of Flat Rides, complete abandonment of theming, etc. Also - I know I'm lucky to have had one of the better Six Flags parks as my home park. I've been to SFGAdv, SFGA, SFA (ugh), SFoT, SFoG, SFStL, LaRonde (hell-pit), and Great Escape - so I have run the gamut from awesome parks to utter crap - which is a point people are making. Although every park will be different - park experiences IN THE SAME CHAIN should not vary so much. One last thing - some of the "hating" is actually us joking around about wierd idiosyncracies at the parks as well. -
^ Saw them at the Masquerade in Atlanta years ago. GOSH WHAT A GREAT TIME!! There was so much blue slime/crap on my outfit that I had to throw it away!

A: Falcon's Fury looks amazing. I go every couple of weeks and have been watching it since it was a "wee little thing" B: I have never seen a 2nd train for Scorpion -are we sure there is one? Also - I like it, and not just because it is a Schwartzkopf. It is a fun ride and has an awesome old-school loop, low to the ground helices, etc... C: It is funny how opnions differ so much between enthusiasts. For me -Kumba is, hands down, the best ride there. I love the rest and Cheetah Hunt is tons of fun and has some good pops of air - but none of the other rides there do it for me like Kumba. I can re-ride the crap out of it and always leave smiling.
-
For me - parades and rallies are just a lot of fun! I get to meet new people and just celebrate this part of me that, growing up in the south, I was told was "wrong" and "shameful." Different strokes for Different Folks I guess (And yes - a Lady GaGa concert counts. There are more costumes and crazy outfits there than at a Gay Pride Parade

So far I haven't had any problems at all with the new FP+ system. It is new, and there might be a "glictch" here or there - but I have nothing but positive feelings about them so far. AND...We got to order our MagicBands!!!! I've been waiting for this and can't wait to get mine! I'm personally enjoying watching this evolve as things unfold. As it stands currently, we can book the three attractions that will have uber-long standby lines - and do a couple of quicker rides, wander around and just enjoy being at Disney, eat, people watch, enjoy each other's company and watch parades and such. Since I have never been to Disney World when it was not just PACKED, the FP+ has definitely made my visits much much much less stressful.

Question is - was RoboCop fun? I don't mind it being kind of a brainless blow things up kind of movie (that is what I would expect,) but is it a fun movie?

Adventure City getting new coaster for 2013?
jynx242 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How cute is this??!! Looks like a great addition to the park and the park regulars should love it! -
At least it isn't like those countries in Africa - Life Imprisonment for being gay, or knowing someone gay and not reporting them (which is better than "kill the gays law," but still horrific. ^It will happen in your lifetime!
