  1. I like the Log Ride at Paramount's Great America support that had to be modified for stealth to be installed. If anyone has a picture please share it!
  2. So Giants moves this offseason: -Let go of Scott Eyre. Not to dissapointed with that, relief pitchers are hit and miss and paying for him as much as he got is not worth it. - Picked up Worrell. Not bad, but we had enough people in the bullpen already. -Traded Hawkins + cash for Kline. This trade sucked. Hawkins was a reliable reliever and Kline doesn't seem like all that good. He was brought in as a lefty-specialist to replace Eyre but his numbers against lefties weren't all that good last season. -Picked up Sweeny. Sweeny? SWEET! Oh...Mark not Mike. Yeah basically he's good for pinch hitting and backup, but he's looking to be a platoon player it looks like. Would have rather have had Snow back. -Denied arbitration to Snow and Tomko. Bad moves. Would have liked to have seen both come back. Snow as our backup 1B/platoon and Tomko as our 4/5 starter. -Picked up Morris. Our big acquisition. With Morris our rotation will be Schmidt/Morris/Lowry/Cain/Hennessey or Correia or cheap free agent. Not all that promisiong 4 & 5 though... All that done and still a 2B/SS utility man and backup catcher to pick up. Looking to be a better season for them this year.
  3. Although I guess he does already have an airport named after him so, hey, it's not too far fetched! Hey, there's a push for it. I think it would be a good idea.
  4. RIP John, you were a gift to the world. Except for your Yoko fetish.... Essential John Lennon/Beatles Songs: 1. Imagine 2. (Just Like) Starting Over 3. Working Class Hero 4. Come Together 5. A Day In The Life Someday we may be able to realize a John Lennon International Peace Day. Thank you John.
  5. Well if you go about noonish you'll get there around 1 or 2. You'll be able to walk around downtown a bit (not near the boardwalk really), go to the warf (next to the boardwalk), and by that time it'll be night and time to hit the rides at the boardwalk. If you want to freeze you can swim, not really that bad last time I went in January....
  6. I say hit SCBB for about half a day, the night really. Dipper at night's something, but then the bucket's are cold so don't go on those. Hurricane's a fun ride, so is the Double Shot. Gotta ride the Carosel with it's rings and keep one of course. But there's really not much else. I'd say skip SF and head right to Yosemite! Hike to the top of Yosemite Falls if it's not already closed for winter, Hike to the top of Nevada Falls, Go up to Badger Pass and cross country ski if there's enough snow. Just generally enjoy the valley and relax. Definetly going to be the highlight of your trip.
  7. YES! Go GRIZZLY! I'm glad the Dipper's up at #38 I believe it was, slips each year but still a great ride in my mind. Rob mentioned that the parks look at it to improve. I believe that Grizzly's b een last or 2nd to last for the whole time and the park hasn't changed it. Stupid parks....
  8. I'm assuming you're meaning the width of the lens? The camera should have a normal focal length (50 mm on a 35 mm camera I believe) and then you can determine the wide angle focal lengths (shorter) and telephoto focal lengths (longer). For instance, I have a 28 mm wide angle lens and a 70-210 telephoto lens. (I know I'm talking all about regular still photography here but the focal lengths still matter.) If you're talking about using a 30 mm width lens and putting it on a 27 mm width camera, you would have to use an adapter, effectively englengthening (did I just make a new word?) and creating a normal focal length lens. After looking into it a bit, the 30 mm is the focal length for the lens. If you're putting it on a camera that has a normal focal length of 27 mm then the 30 mm lens would create a telephoto effect. You'd have to go to a lens less than the 27 mm focal length to get a wide angle lens. Phew....I think that's my longest post here ever.
  9. Photo geek here to clear up the Macro and Wide Angle Lens issue. A Macro Lens has a 1 to 1 ratio, if you're using 35 mm film then the object you are photographing will have to be smaller than that piece of film to use true macro mode. A Wide Angle Lens is a lens that has a shorter focal length than your normal lens. It compresses your photo so you can get more of what you're shooting into the photo. The opposite of the wide angle lens is the telephoto lens. THe telephoto lens expands the photo so you get less of what you're shooting. Complicated kinda those last 2, I hate remembering those. Also the fish eye effect is only achieved on VERY wide angle lenses.
  10. So it's Craigslist, just a huge company.
  11. I'm currently in a Photo 1 class and they have 3 D50s for loan to the Photo 1 students and for the Photo 33 (Color Photography) they have 15 of them that they loan out. It's the only camera they reccomend, although one teacher has a D100 because it can take more pictures in succession. If money is no question, get a hearty selection of lenses anywhere from 18 to 1000 Perhaps zoom, but I'd reccomend for those extremeties that you use the fixed focal length. Have fun with it, it's supposed to be a great camera.
  12. And I see you've returned to the ladies drinking avatar. You gonna keep it open for more than a day after I register this time?
  13. Cosmos are very good, the gay couple next to my friend's house makes them for us. half regular vodka, half vanilla vodka, and oh man that stuff's good. I've had this vanilla rum stuff that's really good. Wine coolers are great it you just go for a taste thing.
  14. I've never really felt the Boardwalk had any kind of ghetto factor. It always seemed to be very family oriented. Except for the time that I went for our Senior Beach day, but then again there were thousands of 18 year old kids there at the same time. Giant Dipper is the best!
  15. Out of my limited Nor Cal experiences..... Best wood: Giant Dipper @ SCBB Best steel: Top Gun @ PGA Worst wood: Grizzly @ PGA Worst steel: Boomerang @ SFMW The worst steel was hard because I couldn't think of any really bad steels here.
  16. Thought Sierra Nevada made Bigfoot Ale. That stuff's chunky and stroooooong. Not that I'd know anything about beer....
  17. I'm trying to do a research paper, and after looking around a bit, I can't find much information. I need to do it on an issue related to a community I'm in. I thought about this community and how Ed Markey wants to regulate coasters. It's a little tough finding information though, I was wondering if anyone could give me an information you know of about this issue, coaster safety, or anything you think would be helpful. I've got access to ProQuest Direct through my college and that has a lot of articles on coaster safety, but I'd like to incorporate Mr. Markey into this paper. Thanks to everyone who can give me any information.
  18. I believe we should be able to use Custom Scenery, but only in a bench that you set up and everyone decides on is the best. You could include some woodie supports, steel supports, and various roofs and walls in the park and still have everyone be able to use it and download it with not too much trouble with the size. About the limits for RCT, I really hate the limits. If it looks like it could be built (i.e. good G's, realistically possible layout) then it should be accepted. Just because you build a large B&M looper with 10 inversions doesn't mean the intensity would be 10 and it usually is. I think that it shouldn't deal with the ratings at all. But that's just me. As for No Limits (if it's still going on) I don't think there's a way to stamp down a G limitation guideline because everyone has differing opinions on G's. Also you can't go by yellow and red because those G Forces can be changed. For example, some people might get mad that a coaster went into the yellow area of G's, maybe 4 G's. But then someone might build a Schwarzkopf coaster that normally does pull 4 g's on like a straight segment of track. It's all relative. I'd be willing to enter the RCT2 competition if I can get some inspiration. But if you're looking for a judge for No Limits (it sounds like this started out as just a pack but turned into a type of competition) I'd be up for it.
  19. My grandpa's wife's son was Bi-polar, sounds like it was a severe case of it as well. He was on medication but didn't like it. It would take away the depression, but he wouldn't be able to hit his highs anymore. He'd try to get off of it a lot but always go back on because he would plunge into a low time. The one thing that always helped him was hiking, so one time he went off his medication and went hiking. When he didn't come back, a search party found him at the bottom of a cliff. The guess was suicide, and just recently his best friend and now almost an adopted son of my grandpa's wife completed the first "Yo-Yo," walking from Mexico to Canada and back again on the Pacific Crest Trail in once season. All I can say is good luck man, you'll find other girls out there, go clubbing, hang out with friends, even ask for a set up if you feel comfortable with it. Just go out there and have some fun.
  20. "Hey Lois, can you go into the kitchen and get me a beer?" - Peter Griffin Substitute in applicable name.
  21. I believe Whitewater Falls was put in where the Whizzer was. So that's not really an option. Don't you think in 20 years they would replace a ride's area?
  22. I don't think I've seen a definite answer anywhere along here....does this mean Cyclone is closing? This has always been one of the most intriguing coasters to me. I mean...double decker track? Who'd ever think of that? Always wanted to ride it, hope I have the chance to still.... And CanobieFan I tried to get your video and it came up with a lot of text...don't know what that means....
  23. Man Stealth was smooth as glass. Smoother than either B&M in the park, just as smooth as Medusa up there in Valejo. Great ride too, not all that thrilling or intense, but very fun. I think that I would prefer to go up the lift hill on my back, that way the flip over to your flying position is scarier. You just calmly go up the lift, not expecting anything. You have no idea where you're going until you fly over the top of the lift and then flip over into your flying position. I have to say I prefer the Vekoma's to the B&Ms, even though I've only ridden one. Just a pretzel loop and 4 turns doesn't do much for me. I think I'd like AIR more than Superman.
  24. I saw the title and though...boy...that's going to be a joke....... But bikinis...joke.....bikinis.....joke! BIKINIS! And so I clicked on it just on the off chance it actually was bikinis.
  25. Too bad the Walruses were closed....
