Alton Towers Discussion Thread
RCFreak replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Trust me, the two don't compare at all, Scooby-Doo just has an elevator lift and a turntable, Winjas has full on WTF moments that make that ride AMAZING. -
^Bake sale! Car wash. Sell your possessions on E-bay? Have you tried asking your parents for a loan? Maybe a grandmother or an aunt or a combination of everything above? Try selling candy, kids love candy, or look around online for other fundraising ideas. Good luck though.

Club TPR is Coming in March!
RCFreak replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually it wouldn't be a good idea as Robb has said before, a lot of parks are far more willing to work with clubs at a higher price point then one that "gives it away" so he prices it as low as he could already (meaning no you cheapskate it won't go lower ). And really, it would make it easier for them to just have one type of membership per club rather then trying to figure out which side of the country the card is actually good for. -

^Lol no one can try to be ignorant, that's the who whole point of the word. That said, they ARE doing everything they can to make sure this ride opens as soon as possible to everyone. They're not just standing around ignoring hoping it'll just fix itself in time for opening day. No park in their right mind is going to hype the hell out of their new attraction like Alton Towers is doing and not try to have it open on time. -

WOW, What an incredibly ignorant statement! What makes you think they're not? It's not like the PR department, or the media firm they are using can just go and fix the ride themselves. I like the advert and would've been terrified as a child by this. -
No they don't, they give the great illusion of it, but if you stuck out your hand as far as you could go, you would still have nothing but air as opposed to Heise Fahrt and G'sengte Sau, where you could literally mow the grass by sticking out your hand, or getting smacked by tree branches in a helix lol.

You know I actually thought that was what they were going for, and I still think it fails. If it was someone "holding" the camera or even "found security footage," or something like that, I wouldn't nearly have the same problem or annoyance with the teaser. It looks to amateurish for using a boom lift at the end. You can still easily wash out colors in post production and still have a high quality video when you're done. I guess I just expected more out of a theme park built within an actual working movie studio. Actually, the video you linked to (the official one, I guess, on their site) is actually an entirely different cut then the one Adam posted, and I like that one a lot more. After watching the two a few times, I think it's the camera movement that's throwing it off in the first one for me and the unfinished sound at the end, I'm guessing it was a rough cut?

^Well, Millennium Flyers only have one belt per row so even if they did keep it, it should (theoretically) go faster. I really liked Gwazi the first time I rode it in late Feb of 07 (then again it was Florida's coldest day in a while apparently) but could definitely feel the hurt when I tried it again in October of that same year, so hopefully it'll ride a lot better.

News: Two New Maure Sohne Coasters
RCFreak replied to exmouse's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^^If you go look at real pictures of the ride instead of the concept art (like this one all the way to the left) or a POV on youtube, it looks to indeed be a clone as that bump is not (nearly as?) present on the real ride. -
It is not free, it is a $5 upcharge, and they're fun rides, maybe not entirely worth $5 for how short the ride cycle is, but only you can decide if it's worth it. Personally, if it comes between a Soda or Screamin' Swing, I would go for the soda lol.

^I wouldn't say booster as it looks like the seats do not rotate. I think this is more along the lines of a Ride Trade (Intamin) Suspended Double Hammer, or Zamperla Hawk 48 with only one set of seats per arm. Great work, looks like a fun ride, perfect for smaller parks/ FECs or smaller traveling fairs!

B&M Hyper restraint/lapbar system
RCFreak replied to pkd freak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Trust me, sometimes they are! B&M Stand-ups restraints are composed to two parts that can independent of each other, The vertical movement of the "bicycle seats" and the over the shoulder harness. When he said don't worry about it, it probably meant the harness' were not locked yet. I have trouble believing both you and your cousin's harness were both unlocked throughout the course of the ride though. -

Facebook Etiquette Tips: Photos and Tagging

Funny enough, it seemed like every other action I would try to take before the upgrade would always lead to "an error has occurred." But after the upgrade, I get it about once or twice a week instead of once ever hour.
