  1. I would die Would definitely be a surprise My kids would love it! They'd be terrified, but they'd love it!
  2. That's a new one. Well, here's another (likely) new one for you... I personally like Wicked Twister more than Magnum!
  3. DON'T. DRAIN. THE. LAKE. Dating back to its days as Deer Park Funland, the lake in the middle of the park has always been one of my favorite parts about the place!
  4. The helix is VASTLY improved! I always ask my friends who complain, when they last rode it, and it was almost always before the helix retracking. Hence, the complaints. Still, like Philrad said, aside from the trick track (now gone), it was the "roughest" part of the ride, even after the retracking.
  5. If we're talking the park I go to the most, and consider my "home" park, Cedar Point, it varies. I think I probably rode a different ride first just about every time I went this past year. However, predominantly, pre-Valravn MF then Maverick was the order. Post Valravn, it really depends upon how early during passholder preview time I get there. If it's early, I hit Valravn first, as the lines were still pretty manageable. At the closest park to me, Michigan's Adventure, it's always Shivering Timbers. Early, and often!
  6. This guy knows what he's talking about. ST is going to be even more "GP" rider friendly now than it's ever been. It still shocks me a little when some people I talk to (outside of coaster enthusiast circles) describe ST as being "too rough", because I love the ride to death, and don't think it's too bad "roughness-wise". However, it's the little things, such as the helix, and the trick-track, that likely left that negative impression. I would anticipate a lot of those people who complained to me, if they were willing to ride it again next year, would find it much better.
  7. I quite enjoyed Rogue One as well! It's not my favorite Star Wars movie, but I like it about as much as I do The Force Awakens, which would place it just behind Empire Strikes Back and the original. That last few minutes of the movie however... Possibly my favorite part of ANY Star Wars movie! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO awesome!!!
  8. Barring a crazy big game from Kirk Cousins and Rob Kelley, I think my son will pull it off after all! Shame I didn't set it up based on divisions! Him and I likely (based on my projections for Cousins and Kelley) BOTH would have won this week, and played for the TItle! Oh well... Good luck next week! Interesting thing though... In another league I'm in with my son, he actually went 12-0-1 during the regular season, and had a 1st Round BYE in the playoffs. Then I played him this week, as a 6-5-2 team (I handed him his 1 tie), and have already beaten him, with Jamison Crowder and Greg Olsen still to play. He didn't do bad, as he scored over 200 points, but my team was off the chain! (My record in that league is deceiving, as I was the 3rd highest scoring team in the league, behind my son, and the guy I'll play next week in the Championship Game. It was a really unlucky season - I mean, 2 ties?!?! One is rare enough as it is, and mine came in consecutive weeks! )
  9. Ya, i didnt catch it untill this week. Matchuo should be changed to. Top 2 teams in each devision should play eachother to go to the chamionship. Not by record. While I do setup the Divisions in one league I run, as a sort of Conference system, where teams play only within their own Division until the Championship Game, typically, whether in default leagues or even others I run, the seeding goes by record, and points scored. Personally, I like that it provides a little more true 1-4, 2-3, parity in the matchups, but as for this league, I'm easygoing about setting it up differently. But again, changes of that nature really need to be done and understood prior to the start of the Playoffs (which I would define as beginning as soon as the last game of the Regular Season ends. I mean, it benefits me personally to change the matchups, as playing my son's team is pretty much an effort in futility, as this season has shown. But I feel like the time for any changes has passed... Again, however, I am 100% open to setting up next season however people most prefer it, and hopefully we'll have at least 10 teams as well!
  10. That was the default setting, apparently, and now that we're here on the doorstep of the Playoffs, I think it's probably best to leave it as is. If this had been brought up to be changed a couple weeks ago even, I wouldn't have minded doing it, but now, I know Playoff mindset and prep for teams has begun. For next year? Absolutely, let's do it differently! (And get more members in the league, too!)
  11. Having eaten at the Big Skillet (both sides) multiple times with my wife and kids, plus never hearing another similar report, I'm inclined to think it's something else. To go with that my wife and daughter were there for Dolly's concert last week (Tues and Wed) The both were sick after, ended up being respiratory infections when they got checked Sun. And their traveling companion picked up strep. My friend ate there at the exact same time, and was fine. So it's possible it was something else. Regardless, it will always be associated with that sickness for me now. I still haven't eaten coleslaw again since I had a bad experience with it as a kid. Can't even smell the stuff now without feeling sick. Besides, the skillet meal was tasty, but not anything special in my opinion. Now the Cinnamon Bread? That's a different story!
  12. If you're this offended about what one person thinks about your cargo shorts then I'm not sure it's the people who think they're inherently lame that need to reevaluate... (Side note: nobody said you couldn't wear them - they're just ugly. Practical? Sure. Brutal? Absolutely.) This is fun. I love the off-season. I notice you conveniently left off the "razzy" smiley face that followed what you quoted, which along with making the print a funny tiny size, shows I was not making my comment in an angry "this offended" sort of way. I've just lived long enough, and have enough grounding to know that fashion trends come and go, and are nothing more than a person or group of people's opinion, which will inevitably change with the wind. So I chipped in my take and perspective on the matter, but in a tiny, unobtrusive way, because this is a Cedar Point forum, and not a fashion forum - offseason or not. Besides, if you're this offended about what one person thinks about your opinion of cargo shorts (and go through the time and effort to post all of those links), then I'm not sure it's me that needs to reevaluate...
  13. Nothing earth-shattering, and nothing I haven't had before, many times, but still a nice craft treat! Dirty Bastard!
  14. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Arrival, as soon as I can!
  15. Thunderhead! It was a night ride, and was the last of the coasters I rode, my first ever visit to the park the other day. It was hauling at night, and gave me a much better ride than I was expecting based on the mixed reviews I've read! Definitely look forward to riding it more my next visit to Dollywood!
  16. This fantastic new coaster, that immediately jumped into my Top 5!!! Definitely a great "final" coaster to close out my 2016 riding season with! (And it was in the dark, at night, to boot!)
  17. Ive been saying this since the announcement. Ditto! I'm a big fan of both InvadR and Mystic Timbers, based on everything I've seen thus far! Can't wait to finally get back down to BGW and check this out!
  18. Well, I enjoyed my first ever visit to Dollywood on Friday, and Lightning Rod was amazing! It immediately shot (rod) into my Top 5! It ran well most of the day, only experiencing a little bit of downtime while we were in line once, and then again when something happened with the second train and they had to take it off the track. That led to a much longer line than had been the norm all day, but it was for an awesome night ride out into the pitch-darkness of the hillside! In total, I got 5 rides on it, mostly towards the rear of the train, or very back, but with one ride in row 3, which was probably my favorite ride of the day! I'd love to get on the front sometime, but as long as they're assigning seats (and I'm rarely going to DW), it'll probably be a while... Hard to say what my favorite part of the coaster is... The Quad down is awesome and intense, but after multiple re-rides, it's almost TOO intense, and makes Storm Chaser's violent double-down seem like child's play. Coming down off the wave turn was always pretty amazing, especially towards the front, where it seemed like less speed had bled off, and I got more hang time out of my seat. But perhaps the most consistently fun element was what I believe they call the "twist and shout", after coming down off the wave turn, and then coming back up and then curving down the opposite direction. That was so great, and again, SO different! LR definitely does a lot of new things, and takes older things to the next level, which is what ultimately puts it so high in my rankings! If there's one complaint about it, it's that it's too short. But honestly, it's so intense, if it were longer, say the length of The Voyage, it would probably put even that coaster's legendary status as unridable to some at risk! Bottom line: it was a long time coming, but LR is worth all the hype, and is definitely a marquee coaster everybody who loves coasters should get out to ride! One thing "negative" I will say about the coaster though... The launch was cool, when it happened, and when you're starting up the hill. But then it lets off, you slow noticeably to crest the hill, and in the end, you're left wondering what the heck point or purpose that it really had in the grand scheme of things. When you take into consideration that it is also what is causing all or at least most of the troubles with the coaster, it makes the decision to go with the launch even more questionable. However, what's done is done, and even though it feels "gimmicky" as can be when riding the coaster, it still gives the ride a bit of character, and is true to the theme. As for the rest of the coasters, I liked every one of them to varying degrees! Even Blazing Fury had its quaint charm, and the surprises at the end, were much enjoyed by me! Probably my second favorite coaster at Dollywood is the other woodie, Thunderhead, which I rode only once, and at night. It was fast, furious, and in the dark, just seemed like an out of control beast! Maybe I wouldn't have enjoyed it quite as much in the day, but as it was, I had a blast riding it, and it actually reminded me of my recent night rides on Ravine Flyer II as far as intensity (at night) is concerned. Considering I've heard mixed reviews on it, I found it to be a pleasant surprise! Wild Eagle and Mystery Mine were also highlights to me, and I appreciated Tennessee Tornado for being one of the best Arrow loopers, and some of the unique things it did, even if it was woefully short! Firechaser Express actually seemed cooler on the POV's I've seen than I felt it was in person, but I still enjoyed it, and look forward to taking my kids on it, as I'm sure they'll eat it up. Pertaining to the entire Dollywood experience, I'd say it was a mostly positive one for me. The park is absolutely beautiful, and I appreciated that greatly! I look forward to taking a couple of days there next time I go, and to really go through the park slowly and experience it more fully. This was a trip down just to get on LR a bunch, and for me to ride all of the coasters (sans the kiddie coaster, as I typically don't roll like that! lol), so we didn't do much else. Don't worry, I DID get both a Skillet meal, and also the infamous Cinnamon Bread. My opinion on those iconic staples of the park? Mixed. The Cinnamon Bread was absolutely amazing, even heated up in a microwave and eaten a couple of days later (there's a story to why that was!) The Skillet sandwich was really tasty at the time... but I think I may have ended up with food poisoning from it, which really reared its ugly head a few hours later, after my night ride on LR. I ended up having to get the Cinnamon Bread, and beat a hasty retreat to the car to lie down and try to settle my stomach, while my friend got three more night rides on LR. So missing out on those extra rides really sucked. Furthermore, the rest of my night, and half of the next day, continued to go downhill, and without going into details here, you can imagine how bad and unpleasant things went, and you probably won't be wrong! I wasn't really eating until Sunday, and that's when I finally broke out the Cinnamon Bread with my family, and enjoyed it tremendously! Next time though, I really want to have it hot and fresh, as I imagine it's even better somehow. Next time, however, I WON'T be getting the Skillet meal! Thanks to all those who offered advice, and though I know I let down all the show people, I will make an attempt to take in a show or two next time I'm there, when it's a more leisurely trip with my family! I'm glad to have finally visited this nice park, and look forward to returning, probably in 2018!
  19. True story... People were saying this same thing after actual pictures of Storm Chaser started coming out, after ripping on the ride based on the animation. Yet, I thought SC looked great from the animation, and felt the same way about Mystic Timbers! People need to start trusting my intuition about these things! I am going to be making a trip down to KI, taking my three oldest kids for their first time there, early in the season, and I can't wait to get on MT with them!
  20. A little known, but excellent Alt-rock band, Paper Route! Saw them last Monday in Pontiac! Great show!
  21. Dollywood, for the first time, tomorrow!
  22. I'm very excited for an opportunity that just came up to come down to Dollywood for the first time with one my best roller coaster enthusiast friends tomorrow! It will be quite the trek on our part, so hopefully everything is up and running well. But for me at least, it'll be my first trip regardless, so it'll all be new and exciting. At least Lightning Rod seems to be running pretty consistently as of late, so hopefully that continues through tomorrow! The weather should be beautiful, regardless, which is what prompted the last minute decision to go down. So, what are the most important things for a first timer like myself to know going in? My friend has been there a few times, so it's not like I won't have some guidance. But besides the cinnamon bread, which I have heard all about, and will certainly partake in, are there any other "can't miss" things I should know about making a trip to Dollywood the best it can be? One thing specifically I'm wondering about, is whether LR has boxes or cubbies to place belongings like cell phones in, since they are so adamantly discouraged on the coaster? While I know for a fact that my phone would be secure in my pocket, given the composition of my pocket, the way it's sealed off when I sit, and so on, my concern is that the violent nature of the ride would damage it in my pocket. That actually happened to my last phone my first spin on Storm Chaser, so I want to avoid it altogether going into LR! I can't wait to experience this wonderful place, and hopefully the wonderful LR for the first time!
  23. Wow! Things are a little chippy and tense in here! This is why I tend to make myself more scarce in the off-season! Going over and over the speculative stuff just winds up driving everybody nuts, and besides, I need at least a part of my year to act like a normal human being not completely consumed by roller coasters! Don't get me wrong though, I am still VERY stoked for RMC Streak, and I'm still on Team 2018 - complete with Frontier Town expansion and overhaul of the area around MS, which is why it's debuting later than the timetable may look at the moment!
  24. Even though it's not the closest park to me, Cedar Point is, and has always been, my "home" park, and the one I most frequently go to. 16. Wilderness Run 15. Corkscrew 14. Woodstock Express 13. Cedar Creek Mine Ride 12. Iron Dragon 11. Gemini 10. Rougarou 9. Wicked Twister 8. Top Thrill Dragster 7. Magnum XL 200 6. Raptor 5. Blue Streak 4. Valravn 3. GateKeeper 2. and 1. (at different various times) Millennium Force and Maverick If I were to rate the coasters at the park closest to me, Michigan's Adventure, it would be as follows... 7. Big Dipper 6. Mad Mouse 5. Corkscrew 4. Thunderhawk 3. Zach's Zoomer 2. Wolverine Wildcat 1. Shivering Timbers
  25. ^You are such a Debbie DoubleDowner! The last new Coaster in my Count, instantly became a new entrant into my Top 10! Goliath at SFGAm!!!
