^THIS As much as I love Cedar Point, and am nostalgic about it from my childhood, BGW simply dominates in every aspect of the amusement park going experience, from great coasters (even if there aren't as many of them) to beautiful theming/environment, friendly customer service, and better than average food opions. It is an enchanting place, and I truly regret that I haven't been able to make it out there for many years. Soon, soon...

LOVE the color scheme! (And I'm a big fan of B&M Flyers to begin with, too!) Wish more parks utilized that pairing for coasters. Fun Fact: in every one of my RCT parks, you are guaranteed to find two coasters with that exact color scheme, just switching the blue and the green parts. Plus my shoes would match it. Yeah, I'm a big fan of the colors!

Lake Compounce Discussion Thread
DILinator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As much as I'd prefer something bigger (especially a similar, slightly bigger and better version of Lightning Run!) at Michigan's Adventure, I'd be pretty happy with one of these clones there as well! Haven't ridden any of them yet, but they do look pretty fun. -
Dont get your hopes up. A little birdie in a dream told me dont expect anything more then a disko or waterslide. And that is base case scenario. No insider stuff, just a huge hunch A ProSlide water coaster like Mammoth or Wildebeast at Holiday World would be freakin awesome. But a disko would be absolute disappointment. Then, if Michigan Adventure's track record recently is any indication, you should expect a disko!

I was pretty fond of BBW as well! Still think it was the best Arrow suspended coaster (at least stateside) at the time of its demise. My kids all enjoy Draggin' Iron, in spite of its obvious deficiencies (as did I back in 87 when I first rode it as a kid myself), I just wish they could have experienced a much better version of the style in Big Bad Wolf. Still in spite of my two favorite coasters from the park when I first went in '94 being gone now, I still love the place, and both Alpengeist and Apollo's Chariot were better than either of those rides when I returned in '02 anyway. I just can't wait to experience Griffon and Verbolten whenever I can make it back there. It would appear that Verbolten is at least a worthy, and likely better replacement for BBW!

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
DILinator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
KD gets good attendance but it's not top 5 among seasonal parks. CP, KI, CW, SFMM, SFGradv, BGW, Hershey, and SFGAM all pull in bigger numbers. I'm not saying whether KD is, or is not likely to get a launched Wing Coaster, but I don't see how park attendance is a factor in whether or not they will. I'm pretty sure Holiday World is not anywhere near the top in terms of attendance, yet they were the first to get one. Yes, I realize they are an independent park, vs. a chain, which has to budget for a ton of parks every year. Still, I don't see this argument being a strong one against the possibility of KD getting a launched Wing Coaster (again, I'm not saying they will, regardless.) -
Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

If I dare hope against hope, I would say Michigan's Adventure. They could certainly use one! I suspect Valleyfair may be the next one, however. -
My Brother-in-Law and I rode that a few years ago when it was at SFGAm, and came away with the same reaction. We both laughed virtually the entire time the ride was spinning! I've never laughed so much on a ride before, or since, and we gave the ride ops a good laugh as well as they watched us! I was disappointed the ride was removed from Great America, which is closer, but it just gives me one more reason to go to SF America someday now! Great TR, BTW!

Anyone ridden all the RMCs yet?
DILinator replied to kweiss's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I too, have sadly not been on any RMCs yet... I'm hoping to go to SFGAm next month for my Birthday, but that's not a sure thing (and it sounds like Goliath is the bottom of the RMC totem pole to boot.) Next year's family vacation is already set, however, and it will be to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. So, I should get an RMC credit then, assuming the rumors about their new coaster prove true! -
Thanks to all those who have posted pictures of their recent trips to the park! I love BGW, and still consider it one of the few parks that rivals Cedar Point in my opinion, in spite of many less coasters, so it's great to see all these fabulous images! It's easily the most beautiful amusement park I've ever been to, and every ride and coaster is great! I haven't even been since 2001, and I still feel this way! I very much want to get back very soon - bringing my own kids, like my parents did back in 1994. Speaking of which, my dad and I got two laps on Drachen Fire that visit, and I still contend that it was a great coaster, and didn't need to come out! Sure, my brother thought it was too rough, and only rode it once, but my dad and I both agreed that the roughness (which is present in all Arrow loopers) wasn't too bad, similar to Nessie (which is still one of the best), and the layout was fantastic! This is probably just a pipe dream, but I keep hoping we see Drachen Fire reborn (Drachen's Revenge?) someday soon, preferably as a B&M Floorless coaster (or possibly a Wing Rider?), with a cloned layout (minus all of the rough parts.) Again, probably just the foolish hopes of a Drachen Fire nostalgist, but one can dream, right? Oh, and RIP Big Bad Wolf... It amazes me how a park can remove two of my favorite rides, and still remain a place I have nothing but positivity for. It's certainly a testament to the awsomeness that is Busch Gardens Williamsburg!

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
DILinator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was BLOWN AWAY by Wildebeest when I rode it at Holiwood Nights this year! Definitely the best water ride I have ever been on, bar none! Sadly, I passed on Mammoth because it had a long line, and then shut down briefly when some people valleyed. I do regret not going back to get a ride on it later, hearing everybody rave about it... Oh well, definitely next time I go! -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
DILinator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
First off, this is not at all an argument, just a different point of view. Secondly, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Holiday World, so I'm not dissing them at all here. However, I'd have to agree with the notion that HW only has 2 world class coasters - though Raven clearly had its day, and has the hearts of most enthusiasts it seems. Voyage is one of the best coasters in the world - which would be the basis for defining it as world class - and Thunderbird is awesome as well, and easily one of the best, if not THE BEST Wing Coasters in the world. Personally,Raven is just Ok - a fun wooden coaster, but nothing special. I'd say Shivering Timbers is FAR more "world class" than it is! As for Legend... I guess I just don't see the attraction. Most of the people I was at Holiwood Nights with really like it, but I think it's VERY rough, and borders on Mean Streak difficulty when it comes to riding it. And this from somebody who loves the out of control experience that is The Voyage! I think the layout of Legend is fantastic, but the experience of riding it, even in the front seat, left a little to be desired for me. Again, to each their own. Not trying to flame anybody. I just wanted to speak up and acknowledge that not everybody feels The Legend is anywhere remotely near "world class." Still, Holiday World IS a world class park in my book, with many reasons for that! I just don't happen to think those two coasters, particularly The Legend is part of those reasons... -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
DILinator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went back a bunch of pages, and didn't see this mentioned, so I thought I'd ask... Has anybody considered that maybe the Valravn Dive Coaster is not really going to CP, but rather KI? Unlike CP, which already has three coasters with a vertical (or beyond vertical) drop, KI has none, making it a truly unique experience at the park. The terrain and lower water table would also better allow for an underground element, and there is a ton of room for a coaster of that size. If they were to utilize the old SoB station, it could easily head out over Banshee into the empty space SoB used to occupy, and another creepy/scary/mythical being themed ride would fit in perfectly next to Banshee. Heck, even The Bat is similarly themed, which could allow that area to be completely re-themed, potentially... I know most will probably shoot this down, and it very well could be nothing... However, so many aspects of it make so much sense, I have to at least give the notion some consideration as a possibility! -
I'm hoping to make a trip out to the park on a Wednesday in mid-August, and I'm hoping the wait times aren't as bad as many of you make them sound. I'm never going to buy a Flash Pass (unless I become fabulously wealthy and can afford to essentially burn money), but I'm content to wait in reasonable lines. Has the park changed in the past few years, for the worse? I last went September 1st of 2012, and had hardly any waits, and got in 17 rides in spite of a 2 hour rain delay in the middle of the day. And that was the Saturday of Labor Day weekend! Will a Wednesday really be a lot worse now? Thanks for any input the regulars may be able to give!

I wonder if Shockwave is getting it's supports re-painted because going to get bought by a smaller park, like SkyRider did. Or moved... I present to you: Michigan's Adventure's new coaster for 2016! -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
DILinator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I too, would prefer something other than a DIve Coaster, though obviously I wouldn't complain about the leaked specs version of one if that's what it is. My top choice would be a 200 foot wooden coaster like El Toro, or another wooden coaster with a great twisted layout and tons of airtime! I've also wanted, and still do want, a great custom layout B&M Flying Coaster, that has nice interactivity with its surroundings, and tops all of the iterations currently in existence. I think that would fit better back in Frontier Town, however, where there are still trees and water to interact with... I'd love to see a 500 foot lift hill coaster someday! I just don't think that day is today, and question whether that park will be Cedar Point. -
Long time lurker, first time poster! I've been watching TPR POV videos for years, and have the complete set! My kids love them as well! I've loved roller coasters my whole life, dating back to the mid 80's. My favorite coaster currently is Fury (I refuse to acknowledge the silly numbers), and my favorite woodie is The Voyage (barely, over El Toro). One of my bigger claims to fame is having ridden Drachen Fire at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and I actually really liked the ride! I've ridden over 200 coasters, but in recent years (for a while now actually) my ability to go on coaster trips has been dramatically lessened, due to having four kids over the past 11 years. Now, the oldest ones are starting to get into coasters themselves, so let the fun begin again! I'm looking forward to continuing to lurk, and also getting into posting here and there, as situations dictate!
