When are you visiting? There is a bus that connects the two quite nicely - I use it to go to/from Downtown L.A. to Knotts/Disneyland and it's pretty cheap. http://mta.net/images/460.pdf - MTA 460 (The link is for the schedule)

Hey Robb, wanna hear something funny?

If I go to any site other than TPR, my feeding tube will be removed. -
Thorpe Park's New "Inta-Entrance"

Sadly, the Boardwalk casino is being torn down (the construction fences are already around it) -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
UberBeavis replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I saw quite a few kids launched out of the Wile E Coyote (now Goliath Jr.) coaster when I used to work at SFMM - they'd fly out at the last turn into the station and land in the bushes. -
Best B&M Standup

As much as I do really like Riddler's Revenge, Georgia Scorcher just is a more exciting ride. Riddler would be a fun FLYER layout, IMHO. -
Strongest/Most forcefull Launch
UberBeavis replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For RnRC, LSMs power the launch sled, which has it's own neat magnetic brake system at the end, and returns back to launch position nearly as quickly as it pushes the train forward. -
Noise Orders on UK parks
UberBeavis replied to lustate's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maybe the parks should just mount some mortar cannons and blast any neighbors to dust... Maybe Matt needs to put down the bottle and get some sleep -
If you could BUY one Coaster...

Well, I'd want to build a new copy of the Long Beach Cyclone Racer. -
Universal-ROTM™, Disney-Haunted House™
UberBeavis replied to Envy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
What Disney attraction is called "Haunted House"? Which ROTM do you want? Florida or Hollywood? -
Maelstrom™ Ride @ EPCOT™
UberBeavis replied to Envy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I used to have the sound clip "You're not the first to pass this way, nor shall you be the last" (in a wonderful Norwegian accent) as the startup sound for my computer. Maelstrom is just fun - plus the hostesses at the film are really cute. -

Bill's Souvenirs Shack
UberBeavis replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've got a road wheel from Jaguar, several blocks of Ghostrider wood (one has a strip of track on it). I've got a giant guitar pick from the Grand Opening of Rock N Rollercoaster Starring Aerosmith (a whole wall of stuff from that ride) The only thing I've got from my current park is a custom made Revenge of the Mummy jacket that I won just before it's opening (I was on the first "official" train out at the party, but I'd ridden several times during the cycle time testing). -
The Christmas Tree in the lobby of the Grand California Hotel Um... personally, I'd give it a tie for USH's Backdraft and Port Aventura's Temple Del Fuego.

Matterhorn opened in 1959, and didn't get it's interior "ice caves" until 1978, when in addition to the caves, the ride added a computer blocking system, and Harold the Yeti. Big difference though, when Matterhorn was built, it was a breakthrough in technology for the time. The money was spent just to develop the attraction. Disney has grown exponentially as a company since then, but the accountants are holding tighter rein than the creative end (for the time being). As for the stuff "behind" you being a bother - You aren't supposed to look there in the first place!

Cedar Fair's "Maverick"
UberBeavis replied to MJHammer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, how profound! -
Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland was the slow mine train ride that preceded Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Some remnants of it still exist - the town of "Rainbow Ridge" (next to the brake run of BTMRR) was MTTNW's starting point. Mission to Mars was a fun simulator - it used a circular auditorium, with a screen at the top, and a screen at the bottom for exterior views, and two screens at the side for "remote camera views". The bottoms of the seats vibrated, and tilted - it was really a weird sensation, but well done. There was a preshow Mission Control with an AudioAnimatronic host named "Tom Morrow", you can still hear him being paged in the queue line for Star Tours. Mission to Mars occupied the space currently held by Redd Rocket's Pizza Port.

Paramount parks up for sale.
UberBeavis replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember hearing something about this in May of 2005. Paramount was floating out the idea of selling the parks; the response from many industry insiders was that Paramount was asking too much. -
Magnum and Millennium Force
UberBeavis replied to JulieWent's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Magnum is a mean spirited coaster, that will have you hanging on, begging for mercy (but I LOVE IT). Only Mantis (Mr. Head, Meet Mr. OTSR) and Mean Streak (We might get back to the station faster if we grab the sidebars and pull) ranked lower for me at Cedar Point on my last visit, but perhaps I haven't ridden MF enough times. I'd say, don't listen to any of us, ride what you want to ride, like what you wanna like
