How does one get to meet Robb and Elissa?
darklingscribe replied to jedimaster1227's topic in Ask Alvey
If you really want to meet them email Elissa and ask politely if you could meet up with her and Robb at a park next time they make a visit to Orlando. -
I'm not sure this has been said before because it would take me all day to read through the 98 pages of this thread. [rant] I just find it interesting that the way people talk about homosexuality they seem to assume, or perhaps the better word is think, that it is a new issue that only started to exist in the 20th century. When in reality there is evidence of gay behavior back thousands of years before Christ. And just so people don't take my comments the wrong way here are my views on the subject. I'm a devoted christian who lives about 20 min away from the heart of San Francisco. I think that the Bible is flawed but at the same time it is the only real document we have from that era. (Sure the words in the Bible are God's words but they were translated by many human minds and written by many different hands, and since all humans are flawed the book itself is flawed as well). I have no problem with Homosexuality and think anyone who is homosexual and believes in God will get into heaven having on average the same amount of sin as any any other human being. I have a couple of friends who are Gay and my best friend that lives a block away from me readily admits that she is bisexual but that doesn't make her any less of a person in my eyes. [/rant] [/i]

I cant say much that hasen't already been said other than I plan on holding off from buying a PS3 until it shows up at Costco. Then if I don't like it I could easily get my $600 back. If you buy anything (except for PC/s and notebook computers) from Costco and save it receipt you can return it any time no questions asked. Seriously I could go there now buy a PSP go outside and drop kick the system and then return it.

Come on you guys all know that it will be Mick Donald Alvey.

Personally I think that Shapiro is offering up SFMM just to get buyers interested. If the other parks were in as prime a realestate location as SFMM he'd wouldn't be selling Magic Mountain. By the way, this may be total bullsh*t but I don't think Six Flags owns the land Magic Mountain is on. They have a 99 year lease or something like that. It'd suck to own a house on that land when the lease it up, I know that's still 70 years in the future but, it can't be good for real estate investment.

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
darklingscribe replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It'll be interesting to compare to Speed at Oakwood when I go on it (assuming that it'll be open next time I visit Cedar Point) -
This all sounds very interesting. I wonder how many of Disney's planned parks never got made. I remember that there was a rumor that Disney was planning on purchasing Treasure Island (a former military base located on an Island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay). But I think reason why this never happened is because it would be such a headache to control the traffic. The only way to get to Treasure Island is the Bay Bridge, and commuters bring the traffic on the bridge to a stand still every weekday without the help of a theme park. Not to mention the problem of all the pipes Disney would have to lay down under the bay to bring enough water and electricity to the area. I remember hearing a lot about this around ten years ago, but untill I can find an artical about it I'll just list it as a rumor.

Awsome. It looks like everyone was had a great time. I'm sad that that I couldn't make it. How was the DVD of the UK trip? -
Elitch Gardens Discussion Thread
darklingscribe replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Interesting. I wonder if the price of the park includes the coasters or if they are simply going to do what they did to Astroworld and relocate the rides to other parks (except for maybe Twister II). Does SFEG have a good collection of flat rides? -
Mirabilandia Discussion Thread
darklingscribe replied to momo1tx's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah Blig did kinda suck. The problem witht he ride is that the seats are always free to swing and because of that they rarely flip because the bottom of your seat is heavier than the top. Really what they need to do to make Bling fun is to add a brake to it's swinging motion to make it kind of like a topspin, so that every now and then the seats lock into place so that the ride can force it to do an inversion. -
I don't really play on xbox live at all. My gamer tag is the same as my screen name here. darklingscribe

I have a request for the midwest trip. After riding Speed at Oakwood during the UK trip I have been craving more Gerstlauer Euro-Fighters. If possible can we make a trip down to Dollywood? If not I'll probably be making a trip down there a week before the midwest trip starts. For those yet to experience a TPR trip be ready to have fun, make fun of Barry, and always be on time! If Robb an Elissa tell you to meet at the bus at exactly 6:00am be there or be forced to hire a cab to take you to the next park. If you have a hard time forcing yourself to wake up early, you will be in trouble.

Question for all you UK Trippers
darklingscribe replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still think it was very strange that Alton towers had NO Nemesis shirts what so ever. -
Thanks. I must have gone through my profile a dozen time looking for this and now it turns out to be right under my nose...

Every time I make a post I am automatically subscribed to that topic and I recieve an email from TPR whenever someone else posts after me. How do I turn this function off? I know I can uncheck the "Notify me when a reply is posted" command when I post my reply, but I sometimes forget and am bombarded with emails until I go to my profile and stop it. Is there some sort of automatic off for the "Notify" checkbox in my profile settings somewhere?

Best wooden drop I've been on: The Wild mouse at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, it really has that out of your seat, out of control feeling. Best wooden structure drop(but not wooden track): the Ulitmate at Lightwater Valley. Because of how long the train is (10 cars) the pullover is insane in the back. Best second drop on a wooden coaster is on Thundercoaster at TusenFryd. It feels taller than the first drop (I not sure that it is though) and you're out of your seat every second of the way down.

Well this is what it normally looks like this time of year: Seriously though, once the fog lifts San Francisco can be beautiful. A different angle:

PGA Discount Coupons
darklingscribe replied to Gnome's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I haven't seen any around recently, though since I have a season pass I admit that I don't really look for them. If you hve enough time to wander around while in the bay area I'd say go and check out Costco before going to PGA, they're selling tickets cheap. -
Gravity's affect on time...
darklingscribe replied to ACEfanatic02's topic in Random, Random, Random
Yeah, but that has nothing to do with gravity. It's all about the theory of relaitivity, which talks about how the speed you're traveling affects time. I could go into more detail but I'm too lazy. -
I can only help with the London suggestions, because I've actually been to the parks around there. If you can only stay around the London Area I'd suggest either Chessington World of Adventure or Thorpe park. Chessington has four rollercoasters (three if you don't count powered ones), while Thorpe Park will have four coasters if they take out X:\ No Way Out and the rumors about flying fish coming back are true. Thorpe park has the bigger rides both in terms of flats and rollercoasters, Chessington has the better atmosphere. Personally Here's how I rate their coasters. #1 Dragon's Fury (Chessington) #2 Nemisis Inferno (Thorpe) #3 Vampire (Chessington) #4 Stealth (Thorpe) #5 Colossus (Thorpe) #6 Rattlesnake (Chessington) #7 Runaway Train (Chessington) #8 X:\ No Way Out (Thorpe) If you're willing to do a ton of driving in the UK you should skip Chessington and Thorpe and Try to make it to Alton Towers or Blackpool Pleasure Beach instead.

^ I Just want to add that for Mac users there is a similar free program available for download called HandBrake. It can convert practically any video files (including ones off DVDs) to Mpeg4 or H.264 codecs. I'm using it right now to Convert the Lord of the Rings Trilogy for my iPod. Also iTunes can convert video files to play on the iPod as long as the video files you want converted are mpeg4 or H.264. Just import the video into iTunes and then right click it and choose Convert Selection for iPod.
