Raptor, 4th of july weekend at Cedar Point. I must have waited at least three hours in 90-100 heat to get the credit. Paramedics were called in about an hour into the wait because at least three people were suffering from heat stroke. I think this is why Raptor is at the bottom of my list of favorite inverts. After waiting in this line I don't even think that the best ride in the world would have made me feel like it was worth it.

What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Balder. I haven't had enough free time to go and visit Theme parks since the UK trip. -

Against Leather and Animal Testing !!!!
darklingscribe replied to Hercules's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'm coming in late to the thread and yes I did take the time to read it all the way through. Personally I'm against animal cruelty but I have no respect for PETA. I lost all the respect I had for the organization when they started comparing slaughterhouses to the holocaust. I don't know, it's 2am and I'm tired so I'll get straight to my point even though it might derail this thread. I just can't understand why people will spend so much energy trying to stop these things that seem to me as such small problems compaired to all the violence we commit against ourselves in the world. Show interest and do some reasearch into what's happening to people today rather than animals. I'm pretty sure that every horrible thing you can find being done to an animal on PETA's website, has recently been done to a person. The only difference is that in most cases today when a person is slaughtered by another human being their meat is not eaten and their skin is not worn. <> After looking over my last sentence I realise that somone could mistake it's meaning. To clarify, I was trying to make the point that when an animal is killed by the industry it is killed for a product. When a person kills a person or when a whole village is slaughtered it is done in anger, hate and for a perverse type of satisfaction. The Medical labs and slaughterhouses do not hate their animals, they just don't love them. -
Maybe it would be good for the park if it goes back to being run by a non chain company that could afford to concentrate solely on making Magic Mountain better. I have recently been wondering why the Tussauds Group (Alton Towers, Chessington Worlds of Adventure, Thorpe parkl, Heide Park) doesn't own any Theme parks in America? After all Tussauds already has a Wax Museum here in New York. I know someone answered this before but I can't remember the reason.

Finally I'm Back home. The Trip was awsome and I'd just like thank Robb and Elissa again for their excellent planning of it. I had a hell of a time packing into my suitcase all of the Balder goodies we got and I think everybody who didn't do the add on trip will commit suicide once they see the updates and videos. And yes it did rain in Norway so Thundercoaster was INSANE. Who knew Vekoma had it in them? Damn Lou beat me to it.

My name requires some explanation. I took a Web site building class last fall and I had to choose a name for the website I had to design. I wanted my website to be a place where I could post all of my short stories and short films. Every thing I write or film seems to end up as a dark comedy no matter how hard I try (I guess I'm just a fan of gallows humor). So I wanted a website name that would mean a dark/mysterious writer. Then I sat for two hours in front of my computer with the Synonym Finder (Probably the best Thesaurus out there) open on my lap until I came up with darklingscribe which was unregistered. I registered my website and put up a few pages. After the class ended darklingscribe.com has wallowed in a state of constant unupdatedness. I intend to post more stuff on it any day now... really I'm going to do it. Soon... at least when I get back from the UK trip. Why are you looking at me like that? Damnit, I'm going to finish it... no really I promise.

Drywall!?
darklingscribe replied to coasterlover420's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Note to Robb: If you are going to go with construction terms duct tape* beats drywall every day of the week**. Get it straightened out. *Gaffers tape is also acceptable. **Except on Thursdays of course. -
I always thought it would be kind of cool to experiment with video forums in which a person can post a webcam video of their opinion on a subject. The threads would seem like one long conversation on a topic. It would be an interesting thing to see the faces of those who are talking because of all of the stuff they could say with their expression on their face rather than just having their words. Though it would be hard to do and a killer on bandwidth.

Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
darklingscribe replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Park I'm looking at the most as of right now is Bonfante Gardens. It is the park which is least like any of the others CF is getting and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Bonfante Gardens own a conciderable amount of land as well? -

What next for Magic Mountain?
darklingscribe replied to TheMan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The one coaster I could picture Magic Mountain installing next is maybe a Gerstlauer Spinning Coaster. They're not that expensive (at least when compaired to the price of something made by B&M) and to the best of my knowlege the west coast has yet to see any spinning coaster of any make. The closest California has to a spinning coaster is Survivor: the Ride at PGA. -
Awsome! I wish I could go too, but since I'm lacking a job in video game industry or the press it won't happen. My only hope of ever visiting E3 is through a contest. And the only contest I've ever won was for pumpkin carving. I'll post a picture of my winning design if I can find it. (I'll create a thread in the random forum)

It looks really cool. I have always found it interesting that the best of the intamin accelerator coasters are the smaller ones. Sure Xcelerator, Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka are nice but layout wise there is really nothing to them. By the way has anyone here ever ridden a Screaming Squirl? Whats it like? Overbanked turns on a Woodie
darklingscribe replied to Three's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally I could see it happening in an underground tunnel. Make the walls very solid with a lot of cement so that the coaster's supports could actually be attached to the ceiling of the tunnel. -
A friend reccomended this program to me earlier today and I've been spending the last couple of hours ripping the TV shows I have on DVD to my iPod. Works pretty well and best of all it's free!! The only bad thing I can say about it is that it takes a while encode (a 2 hour movie takes about 2 hours to convert unless you have a super fast G5 PowerPC like me, then it takes about half that time). Handbrake The website says that they're working on a version for Windows users and it's still very buggy but available to download through their forums if you really want to try it out. <>I'm not sure if they updated the program to be compatible with the new intel macs.<>
