  1. It looks interesting but it doesn't look like its set in stone yet. As the most recent press release says that they just made an offer for the 200 acre piece of land. So let the speculation begin. As it says that the park will be one an internationally recognized brand where does that leave us? Six Flags (unlikely, but they do have parks in Canada and Mexico) Cedar Fair (Even more unlikely since they just purchased the paramount parks) Universal (Not sure how plausible this is, I haven't kept up, information wise, with who own universal) And of Course Disney. (In my view the most likely company, though what do I know? I'm just an enthusiast.)
  2. My Wii used to do that and then one day I got a file corrupted error that killed my system. Nintendo replaced it free of charge (they even covered shipping) but I lost all of my save data. So I suggest you move all of your save files to and SD card just to be safe.
  3. I'll have to give a shout out to Discovery Kingdom. One of the few Six Flags parks where you don't need to go on the rides to have a good time.
  4. Tell me if you like the place or not. I've always wondered as it is just as close to my house as Ragin' Waters in San Jose is, yet I've never been (partly because a friend of mine was there that day the water slide collapsed back in 1997).
  5. Just a couple tips. Intermittent rewards work best. Always praise her when she does something right, but don't always give her a treat, give her treats as rewards randomly. There is science to backing up this method, for some reason random intermittent rewards work better than giving your dog a treat every time. This applies to humans as well, it is why gambling can be so addictive. Also you need to establish now that you are the boss of your house. Every dog that I have had I did this with: When feeding her set down her food bowl wait ten seconds and then grab it and pick back up. If she growls at you wait a couple of hours before giving it back to her, if she doesn't display any signs of aggression set it back down and let her eat. I also do this to my dogs when I give them a bone. Do this about once a month (but once a week when they were puppies). Another tip, if your family eats regular meals at home where the entire family sits down to have dinner at a regular time make sure you feed your dog after you are done, and completely ignore any begging they might do at the table.
  6. ^ He will if your Photo TR stands out above the rest. The most important thing is that you have fun on your vacation. Anyway, the coaster seems interesting, but I don't think it would like it all that much. I love airtime and this looks like it has even less than Rita.
  7. Hands down one of the best water parks to ever close, I was pissed when I learned that they shut down. Their slides were one of a kind even if the park looked a little run down. The park was situated like this. There were what they called the nine original slides (fairly large enclosed single person slides) in a fenced in area inside the park. You had to wait in line to get into this area, once inside you were given a foam rubber mat and had free run of the place for 30min with virtually no lines to wait in. The slides were on a hill and had terrain layouts, meaning that they almost never left the ground, but they did go underground. In about half of the slides there were sections that went pitch black and left you with no Idea were you were going. Oh and did I mention that you had to go down lying on your mat head first? I really miss that place. Other than the nine original slides, there were other water rides spread about the place. There were some inner tube slides that had light mounted in the slide wall, which made the slide almost like a disco floor. There were some inner tube speed slides as well a a kiddie section of the park. There was also a fairly large body speed slide located by the entrance situated on top of a old bungie jump tower. But perhaps my favorite ride located outside of the of the nine original slides was their innertube rapids ride which could take twenty minutes (if your were careful) to get from the top of the hill to the bottom because of all the odd corners and whirlpools to get stuck in. You could also have a hell of a fun time trying to race a friend down to the bottom. Sadly I only have memories of the place, no pictures. When you are going to a water park and are under 20 you don't really think of bringing a waterproof camera. I'll try to look through some old albums, but mostly it will be pictures of me taken by my mom, no actual pictures of what the place looked like.
  8. Here is the artical: Poisoned Glutens It has only been confirmed to be in pork, but a recent finding is kind of scary, the poison is not exclusive to wheat gluten, rice gluten also has been found to have the chemical in it. The FDA is also going to start testing all imported vegetable glutens. Which includes stuff that is used in peanut butter and infant formula. All I'd like to know now is if anyone can recommend a good gluten free cookbook?
  9. Thanks but I not that good a manipulating photos in photoshop, I'll see what I can do though. Any other photos would be appreciated.
  10. I'm trying to make a video photo trip report, with narration set to pictures and every thing. It's just and experiment to see if I can pull of a documentary style trip report consisting of still pictures (like the show biography). I'm nearly done but need one picture to complete my trip report. A nighttime photo of one of those hi-striker carnival games, you know where you slam the hammer down as hard as you can to ring the bell. It is crucial in explaining how exactly my friend injured himself. I've spent over an hour on Google image search and have turned up nothing. If someone could link to or post their own photo of this game at night I'll put their name in the credits, and thank them profusely. I need large photo, though, because I plan on zooming in on it. Thanks for any help offered.
  11. It depends on what Park you are at. At SFDK I love their interactive animal exhibits. At Disneyland the shows are awsome, and as a kid I really enjoyed the wet maze at formerly Paramount's Great America.
  12. The new version of the internet channel works much faster. I can actually see myself using this now if my computer goes down. It's much easier (and faster) to use than the PS3 browser.
  13. I was thinking about heading up to SFMW, uh sorry, SFDK next week and was contemplating getting a season pass because it won't be the only SF park I will be visiting this year, but after looking on their website, the season pass doesn't say anything about being good at all SF parks like it was last year. I'm wondering if SF has stopped doing that this year?
  14. I have a feeling that you'd really like Pepsi Max Big One if it didn't have such a steep first drop. The ride has no airtime on it what so ever besides the first drop. Great trip report, you should really give a coaster with inversions a try. Maybe something smooth with only one loop. Inversions happen so fast on many of the coasters that they are over before you know it. Even though I went on the TPR UK trip I'm at a loss to recommend an inverting coaster for a first timer. If you were in California I'd say maybe, California Screaming, the trims are on so much now that you barely ever get airtime.
  15. I voted for B&M. Overall they are the best flyers, but if I were voting on which coaster had the best thrill moment, it would be the Vekoma flying Dutchmans. The moment you crest the top of the lift hill and hit that half barrel roll is heart stopping. It is one thing to first experience the thrill of hanging in your restraints in the station, it is quite a different feeling to have you body weight first hit the restraints 110ft in the air.
  16. Great Pictures! It has always been a park I liked spending time at, and I like the improvements. I haven't been there in a few years (though I did manage to get the Zonga credit) and hope some of my favorite walk though sections are still there. I just have a few questions, is the butterfly house still there? Even though it was in sort of a nondescript greenhouse at the back of the park, it is one of the most unique experiences at any sea world type park I've been to. Also, I'm probably a little late in asking this but is there any news about what is going to happen to the fairgrounds right across from the park? If Shapiro is so interested in improving SFDK the Fairground would make a sensible purchase, Either for more animal exhibits or maybe a water park, both would be family friendly. Also a Medium/large family coaster, something like a mine train or Maurer Söhne custom spinning mouse would work really well at this park.
  17. That same error people are posting pictures of is happening on the Wii and PS3 browsers, otherwise I like the design. Robb, Opera should be free to download online so you could download it onto your computer and be able to test the page on it quickly rather than relying on us.
  18. I don't know where you find all these ride ops willing to do something. The last couple of times I have been to various parks (even at DCA) if I've reported some people who were line jumping and breaking other rules but the ops, who looked like they were still in high School gave me a look as if saying What do you expect me to do about it. ...and in some ways I sympathize with them. Say your 17 or 18 getting minimum wage and someone comes up to you asking you to go confront a group of people twice your age when your supervisor is not around, what do do feel like doing?
  19. I hope the first thing that they do is change the half-assed Boomerang Bay into a full fledged Soak City. Five Slides and an endless river does not a water park make.
  20. Great film, but I found I liked the Devil's Backbone a little bit more. However, both films are awesome.
  21. My friend is Canadian and he comes from the Edmonton area in Alberta. Near where Mindbender is. He had expressed to me his fear of roller coasters ever since he heard about that horrible crash Mindbender got into, and how he is slowly getting over it. So I told him to come and ride Revolution (we were at SFMM) it's not that tall and it's not that fast. As we went up the lift hill I casually said something like "You know, this was designed and built by the same people who built Mindbender."
  22. Balder. Every single hill is an ejector seat moment.
  23. ^ I hope it will just be Thomas and Friends. The Wiggles seem to be one of those groups that will only last for 10 years or so, while Thomas and friends have the staying power of Sesame Street and shows like that.
  24. I know I'm probably th 500th person to say this... Congratulations! Just judging from your history I think that by the age of 5 she will probably have a higher coaster count than most people alive and also be more well traveled than any U.S. President.
