  1. While not regarded as intense overall, the first ride that came to my mind was Goliath at SFMM. The infamous Helix of Death. Right here in Canada, two rides that are brought up regularly are Mindbender at Galaxyland, and the now demolished Skyrider at Canada's Wonderland. Personally loved both rides, and believe that in Skyrider's case, much of its hate was due to the rough, extremely forceful Helix. As a whole though I found the ride to have just the right ammount of intensity. As for the mind bender out in Edmonton, most enthusiasts love it, but often the GP, at least the ones I know, say it's far too forceful.
  2. ^My thoughts exactly. I love the variety of experiences zippers (and other similar flats) give. A lot of the other flats, like round ups, scramblers, etc. get quite boring to me after a few rides. On something like a zipper or a Topscan, I'll rarely get bored. I can remember going to a carnival a few years ago, where I got bored of most of the large flats fairly quickly, however once I reached the zipper at the back of the fairgrounds, I spent a good couple hours there... The carnies certainly made a lot of money off me that day!
  3. ^Seems like it could've been just the particular one you guys rode. If it was a newer model, (newer models have heavier pods), that could explain things. Then again, I've also gotten really sh*ty rides on older models as well, so i think some of it just comes down to chance (no pun intended ) as well.
  4. ^If they could somehow have a lapbars version of those seats, that'd be pretty cool. Not sure if it's possible with all the wild forces, but one of the things I love about the zipper is how, despite being cramed into the pod, the restraints themselves give a lot of freedom.
  5. I wonder what chances new zippers will look like? I remember reading on this article that they're now making some old classics again, like zippers and tobogpan coasters. http://www.carnivalwarehouse.com/brnews/newsarticle.asp?ID=675 Great news of you ask me! Always loved the zipper ever since my first ride a few years back.
  6. Zippers, top scans and of course, drop towers all come to mind forme. On a side Nimitz, I'm wondering if anyone here's rode a KMG inversion? I've heard RUMORS that one will be coming somewhat close to my general area, and was wondering if I should bother going out of my way to ride it.
  7. B&M: Le Vampire, La Ronde Intamin: Drop Tower, Canada's Wonderland (I know, not a coaster, but better airtime than any B&M I've rode).
  8. ^I agree that Paramount was all about quantity over quality, HOWEVER, the flats they added were amazing! As for CF, I'm really hoping history repeats itself, and a get a great, quallity coaster to replace Skyrider. Banshee this year really got me excited, and hopefully CF can get a similar (not necessarily an invert) b&m looper with some decent forces at CW.
  9. And the RCT version is actually less sketchy than the origonal!
  10. ^The sadest part is that Switzerland is home to some of the best coaster manufacturers in the world, yet the country's tallest and fastest coaster is made by Pax
  11. ^I'm personally not even a huge fan of any of the coasters at the park, besides the B&Ms and, oddly enough, skyrider when it was there. I really love the park's flat collection though (shockwave and drop tower are definitely my favourites).
  12. ^^Nah, DF isn't that bad... It's Voretex that's always been the rough Arrow for me As for the "new ride", that's great to hear construction is moving along well!
  13. Strange to hear of all this activity on the other side of the park from where the supposed "new coaster" will go.
  14. I do beleive it's for this: http://www.chancerides.com/rides/freestyle.html That's exactly what it is for. An updated Wipeout. Chance is also selling their full catalog again (they sold a Zipper at IAAPA), so an updated Chaos might happen... So they also have an updated Zipper too? Same ride, just minor technical improvements. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHOOOIOOOOOOOO!!! More of my favourite flat is getting made!!! Words can not describe how awesome this is! Really hope my local carnival gets one. Who was the lucky operated to buy the one at IAAPA?
  15. Can you guys get any footage of the Frenzy ARM swing ride), and the drop tower that's set up indoors. Both of those look pretty cool!
  16. SFX coaster... What we all wanted Alton's Th13teen to be! Also so happy to see it's made by a copany based right here in my home country! Also love the skyscraper POV! Looks a lot better than I thought it would. Kind of reminds me of the high roller from stratosphere on crack! Speaking of the stratosphere, I wonder if they'll pull a similar move to what they did in Vegas, and try to fit a space shot on top of the tower. My guess is yes (if it is possible), seeing as S&S has a hand in the design of the coaster that's going up right now. Oh, and speaking of the skyscraper tower, I hope it'd be possible to put one of these on the CN tower up here in Ontario.. Very unlikely, and probably impossible given the way the CN tower was designed, but if it could be done, that'd certainly be impressive seeing a ride that would almost double the Skyscraper's height!
  17. Well, TC train and Lazertag Bumper cars look awesome! Definitely the highlights for me so far! Hope they're both featured in the video when it comes out. Can't wait for day 2! Also think that swing ride from ARM looks pretty fun. Would be great to see Robb's/everyone else's reaction on it, especially since my local carnival operator's considering getting one.
  18. I'm not too sure this would work as a legit form of mass transit, for many reasons, cost being the biggest one that comes to mind. ***HOWEVER***I could totally see this eventually happening In a park. I'd always do this in my RCT parks, and wondered if a real life park had Ever thought of the idea. It would definitely be a fast and more thrilling way to get around the park, and could compliment the monorail/park train nicely if done right . I'm definitely not an engineer/maintenance expert, so don't quote me on this, however, I thik the solution to the main problem posed in the opening post could be to have a launch Or two between stations, similar to Helix This way, there's, at least in theory, no need to worry about the coaster making it between stops. The main challenge with the launch, at least from what I know, would be reliability/cost. Again, I'm not an engineer/expert, so don't quote me on it lol. Just my two cents.
  19. Been on every B&M in Canada, at least twice... This summer I rode every B&M in the country in the span of a week. Ridden every standup in Canada.
  20. Whenever I ride major milestone coasters, I have to ride the thing at least 2-3 times before I can remember what it feels like. The first few times I come off in a complete daze, and I usually feel like I'm in some kind of weird dream-state. It's really strange. It's only happened a few times, such as my first coaster with inversions Dragon Mountain, Marineland) and my first hyper/over200' drop (Behemoth, Canada's Wonderland). The most recent example happened after a 10 minute ride on the zipper at a local fair. I actually needed my friend who rode with me to walk me off the platform of the ride because I was so out of it! For about 5 minutes after that, I couldn't stop laughing. I wasn't under the influence of anything at the time, but it certainly felt like I was high on some kind of drug. So in short, yes, I have felt something similar to what you described.
  21. That looks awesome. Would love to see some other company design an updated version of that for a park here in North America.
  22. I always thought Skyrider would've been a great ride as a sitdown looper.
  23. I still find the fact you can build these things in RCT3 pretty hilarious! The rides looked a lot nicer in the game tbh! In real life they're a lot more ghetto
  24. Thanks ECZenith, that was what I assumed, seeing as it was in a Russian park according to the video. Even weirder still, I found this video in the side bar. I believe this is the Swiss one people were talking about. Now THIS is just MESSED THE **** UP! Here's the info on RCDB First video I posted: http://rcdb.com/4218.htm Coaster in Vid above: http://rcdb.com/12192.htm Very ironic how the second coaster is located in Switzerland, yet the country's most interesting coaster (at least IMO) isn't from Intamin or B&M
