Its dont think its that he doesnt want to use the term at all, cause this ride has a high five and he still refers to that element by that name, it would be confusing to call both of these a high five, so it makes sense to come up with a new name for it. sorry, i didn't mean to confuse what i said with the top gun. but in the interview i watched alan basically said the name high five didn't make sense, and that he never wanted to use it, that six flags wanted to. so to him, there is no high five in the design. i think his idea of a high five would be if they trains met traveling at each other, and i agree with him. i bet one day we will see that, that would be cool. Another note about the high five element. this may have already been mentioned, but after watching a POV of the original "high five coaster" (the woodie in china that got built a few years ago), I couldn't help but notice the two tracks on TC seem further apart from each other than on the other ride.

Well, if there marriage is still going on, I really hope she didn't ruin anybody's trips to Knobels this year to ride impulse... I could just imagine her going crazy over some "love triangle" or something to that extent once Impulse opened! Out of curiosity, has anyone actually seen this woman at Knobels? If not, maybe she likes to have her "fun" with the ride alone in the off season only?

^Lol... Just lol I have no other words! Seriously tho, I've always wondered who manufactures the 1001 Nachts. The original poster said it was weber, but I seem to remember another version of the ride, like in the pic below. Maybe the woman (at least I think she's a woman... Hard to tell in he video) ditched the Knobels version of the ride for this version

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
canadianparkfan replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Speaking of passholder preview night, here's a great video I found showing off all the new additions, as well as the construction at splash works and skyrider's spot. Speaking of new additions, has anyone here rode slingshot? Mid so, how was it... Worth the money? -
OH...MY...GOD...Becky, look at that POV!! I like big b... Oh wait, did I say that last part out loud?.. .. Who cares! This ride just looks so amazing Seriously though, the way that ride just flies through the course (just testing) is CRAZY! Seems like Medusa down at six flags Mexico's got some very stiff competition! ... There's just so much

Best Pirate Ship Ride?
canadianparkfan replied to canadianparkfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^From what I've seen on the TPR YouTube channel, seems like a lot of the rides over in Japan are a little more tame (yes, I know there's exceptions... Ie. Ultra twisters) Not sure why that is, but that might be one of the reasons the "giant" ship thing never caught on here in the west? -
^Name was "Valravn" I personally think they'll be getting a dark ride next year. As other posters have pointed out in the CP thread, the name trademarked is linked to a mythical folk legend with a pretty dark storyline. Seems like it could be used for something like a shooting dark ride, sort of in the vein of zombies 4d that was done for haunt at CW.

^Yeah, a full train should calm the spinning somewhat. It's the exact reason why the new generation zippers aren't as good... Heavier cages, therefore slower spinning. Agreed. While I think the spinning will be dampened somewhat, I hope it's not by much. I'd assume it'll eventually be similar to the spinning found on the prototype model that Robb rode a while back (can be found on TPR's channel).

Zippers?
canadianparkfan replied to leviathandude306's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For some reason whenever I rode the zipper, I was never worried about the door. I actually found the Larson super loop more unnerving, probably because the OTSRs leave you more exposed. -
Heard of this happening at La Ronde on their boomerang a few years ago. As for my own story, it too happened at la ronde, but thankfully was nowhere near as terrifying or potentially dangerous. Was waiting to ride Goliath(park's b&m hyper). Ride was closed as soon as I reached the station for cleaning after someone got sick. Came back about an hour later, and managed to get on. Immediately after getting off, the next train that went out immediately after got stuck on the lift. Walking through the park, I could see that EVERY other ride was stuck, apparently due to a city wide power outage.

Two dead in another accident in china
canadianparkfan replied to thedazza's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Still, that's kinda sketchy , and obviously can end up with far more tragic consequences on a larger ride. As others have stated, thoughts go out to the families of the victims -
Two dead in another accident in china
canadianparkfan replied to thedazza's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's aweful! I seriously wonder how many more of these accidents happen without word of them getting out to the west. I have this sick feeling that the ones we've heard about in recent weeks aren't all that's happened. -
Slightly disappointing, but not really a big deal. After thinking about it, the decision to only test outside of park hours makes sense. I'm sure we'll be able to see this ride in action when SFMM is ready to let us see it, and now that we know it's testing I think it will be much more interesting to wait until they're doing two train testing before seeing it. Well, speaking of Tatsu & testing after park hours, that reminds me of a video of Tatsu testing a long time ago. It was shot at night, from what appears to be outside the park. So depending on how visible TC is from vantage points outside SFMM, people may still be able to get heir test footage. ..Oh, and I almost forgot! There's an even easier and better way to get footage.... It's called being patient and waiting for SFMM to release it!

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
canadianparkfan replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Not too sure SF has any special contract with RMC. I seem to remember someone else in another thread saying they didn't, and with stuff like outlaw run being built outside an SF park, although not being a conversion, shows that they can at least build outside of SF. While I'm a little disappointed at the possibility of the next new coaster being delayed, the multi year thing announced by the park makes sense, and if an RMC conversion's in there somewhere, I can't complain about that! . It'll be really interesting to see what eventually fills skyrider's spot. If CP is supposedly getting what we were originally going to get, I wonder if we'll simply get a clone of whatever they build, or something new/unique?
