^Same I understand CF was under different management at the time, but two (expensive) coasters have been added in the same year with the two intimidators. -

Yeah.... no. As somebody who has greyed out on the majority of my rides on MF, "Millennium Forceless" is one of the dumbest nicknames for a coaster that I have ever heard of. In no way is MF "forceless", at all. Wikipedia claims that it pulls 4.5 Gs, which I would guess is a low estimate. The Batman clones supposedly pull 4.9 and Boomerangs supposedly pull 5.2 (that sounds like BS to me, though), I never grey out on those. I would assume MF actually pulls up to 5 Gs at the very least. Yeah, very good point. ... But what about the airtime? -

^Adding to that, it's not like Intamin doesn't have a Few coasters people might deem "force-less" themselves *cough*MF*cough* -

I don't get it.. Pretty much everybody here is a major coaster enthusiast... So everyone here should know what HUGE investment put CW on the map *cough*Behemoth*cough*. When was that $25+ million ride added? That's right, 6 years ago (2008), when times were just about as tough as they are now in Canada AND THE U.S. Personally not worried at all about how the poor economic times are affecting the park. -

^That helicopter, combined with how long this construction's taking for an apparent water main break still makes me think there still might be hope for something next year. -

^^^Longest rant on the site? Anyway, would personally be pretty surprised if CP got a dive machine. For some reason it feels outa place there. Personally think a dark ride or RMC of mean streak would fit much better. Then again, what do I know?... Never been there; simply going off my basic knowledge of the park. Just my two cents. -
Drop Towers On Buildings?
canadianparkfan replied to canadianparkfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After thinking it over, seems like the problem with the super high towers losing their thrill has more to do with the cars than the tower itself. If I remember correctly, someone told me the aerodynamics of the "3rd gen" cars (ie. Zoomanjaro, SFMM drop of doom), combined with the new restraints means you lose that pop of air at the top/long sustained float down the tower. If traditional/second gen cars (standard 4 across seats) were used, I believe a massive tower could be just as good if not better than most drop rides out there. For proof, just look at blue fall (tower in Japan recently filmed on TPR's YouTube channel). -

Great find. Would b&m/cf ever think of doing a launched dive coaster combo? -

^Does it say anywhere about a time limit for how long they can't use the name, or is it just a permanent thing? Also, is it only a U.S. Trademark that's the issue? If not, CW may use the name for their coaster (just a wild guess). -
^Missed that. Very good point. However, even if CP is getting a coaster, who's to say CW won't get another one as well? So far, the only other major rumor I've heard in the CF parks is a possible waterpark expansion for Carrowinds. Plus, this wouldn't be the first time CF's dropped a bunch of money on coasters in one year. Just look at Intimidator and I305. Both were built the same season, and both cost roughly $25 million.

Agree that some of the track at the plant is for the rumored CW coaster. Personally don't think CP will be receiving a dive coaster. Some "hints" (using the term quite loosely) about a dark rise coming to CP were revealed on this podcast. http://coasterradio.com I think its funny that you guys think this track is for a wing rider Seriously, this track is gigantic, no wing rider has ever had this size of track, but you guys can keep on dreaming . This is definitely for CP's dive machine. Never said it'd be a wing rider. Personally have no idea what it'll be. I just have a strong feeling CW will be getting the coaster while CP gets a dark ride.

^Couldnt agree more. IMO, I've been on many drop towers that provide far supirior airtime to most coasters I've done... Guess that's what I get for being stuck with a home park who's big airtime coaster(s) are new school b&ms Not sure how I'd like falcon's fury if I ever got a chance to ride. It seems like you'd get virtually no "airtime" on the ride, and with the main selling point being the crazy hang time, I'm really not sure if I'd enjoy it at all. Anticipation of the free fall on a drop tower I can handle no problem; hang time not so much. Clearly remember forcing myself onto the Larson super loop at our local carnival last year, because everyone I was with wanted to go. Hated the ride (more specifically the hang time, and made a beeline for the ARM drop tower as soon as I got off. Everyone in my group (who loved the Larson loop, and rode it at least a few more times that day) wouldn't go near the drop tower, so had to ride it alone for the whole day ... At least the airtime was good All this to say, if hang time 60' in the air on a Larson loop gave me the creeps, really not sure how I'd handle it 300'+ up on falcon's fury.

I've rode nearly every major brand/make of drop tower out there, and liked them all for different reasons. They all give great, yet widely varied, forms of airtime; some more floater, some big pops of ejector, some a mix of both. I've never rode the Tower of Terror (TOT) at the Disney parks but on forum after forum, thread after thread, whenever the topic comes up, there's always this camp of people vouching for the ride, saying how amazing the airtime is. So, is the hype real?... If so (or if not), what's the airtime feel similar to? I'd imagine it'd feel kind of like the s&s towers, but a tad weaker. Really not sure though, just a guess.

Drop Towers On Buildings?
canadianparkfan replied to canadianparkfan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Never heard of that one, but I remember seeing somewhere the Skyplex that's getting the Polar coaster in Orlando has plans for a drop tower. I always just keep thinking whenever I visit big cities that a lot of the current drop towers in parks would be dwarfed by most buildings. Really surprised more urban ones haven't been built. I'm no expert, but it almost seems easier than something like Zumanjaro with no coaster trains and whatnot to worry about. If done right, with the appropriate building, it could be a major success.
