  1. If safety/comfort is an issue, I'm surprised gherstlaur is still getting so much business. The only two major incidents I've heard of at big parks have involved Gherstlaur in both incidents (NTAG trains and the Smiler).
  2. Personally really curious to hear how these new rides will sound. The solid track almost reminds me of b&m track, so hoping these things will have a similar "roar" to the old school b&ms.
  3. Great TR!.. Neat to see the "other" El Toro that most of us probably won't get to ride.
  4. Behemoth's drop (and the whole ride tbh) is better in the back row. Then again, haven't rode in the front for awhile, so I'll have to give it a go next time I visit. Personally like Leviathan's drop better. It just seems to go on and on and on forever, with a nice dose of floater air all the way down. Honourable mentions go to Skyrider (RIP), with some really cool stand up-ejector airtime in the back row, and drop tower, with some awesome forceful floater, borderline sustained ejector, air... I know the second one wasn't a coaster, but it had to be mentioned
  5. I've only ridden the Skyscraper models. They are actually one of my favorite flats. If you're at all uncomfortable with heights, it will scare you. The forward flips are crazy because you're facing straight down at the top and you're moving really fast. Sounds pretty cool (forward flips remind me of the zipper). Apparently the 1 arm Mondial versions, AKA caprilolos, are even more intense.
  6. And in less than a year's time, even the Sky Roller won't be unique... All TPR will have to do is travel to Toronto instead of overseas to Europe.
  7. ^With it being featured on a show, plus the crazy concept, I'm surprised it doesn't have more hits on YouTube
  8. Surprised to see all the comments on this! Found something else interesting (on the side bar of the first video posted), that, while a little off topic, is still pretty amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTcdutIcEJ4 Guess this "loop" idea isn't just for coasters, or even slides anymore... Somebody figured out how to RUN through a loop.
  9. What about the KMG inversion? It seems like it provides some pretty good G forces as well as quite a bit of hangtime.
  10. Found this video on YouTube the other day. IMO, if what the guy built in New Zealand/moved to NJ (essentially a giant slip'n'slide) counts for record purposes (was ranked world's longest waterslide), then I say the slide in the above video should claim some accolades as well. So, you be the judge... Did these guys beat the Sky Caliber slide (the one with the weird capsule you ride in) to the "first vertical loop since action park" title?
  11. Just curious if anyone here's rode the skyscraper/booster/speed flats? From what I've heard, they look a lot more intimidating than they really are. Any truth to this?
  12. Well, one thing's for certain with this new single track coaster type.... We will never have to worry about RMC building another coaster as short as Goliath ever again!
  13. ^I don't live anywhere remotely close to Memphis, however, the town I'm in isn't too close to any parks (closest one, CW, is about 3 hours away). The people here, I'm sad to admit, aren't the brightest either... HOWEVER, IMO that's no reason to start a damn riot.
  14. Only if it were right before, or right after a new coaster announcement! Better than anything I can think of! SF should move this to every park (like with their backward batman trains) adter they have a major coaster built. As for actual scare zones, the best I've seen wasn't actually at a park. It was at a mining exhibit in a mid sized town about 4 hours north of Toronto. The exhibit itself had an actual underground component, and during the fall, it gets transformed into a massive scare zone themed to a haunted mine/gate to hell. Very well done IMO, especially for a town that small with no parks nearby. Here's skunk to their site: http://sciencenorth.ca/promos/halloween/
  15. I've seen some pretty sketchy people at parks/fairs, but this is a (sad/unfortunate) first. I've heard people saying they'll "start a riot" if the line moves too slow, but I never thought anybody would actually take it seriously and actually start anything. Just sad, and the fact it's a super loop makes it even worse.
  16. ^Probably due to it being an American chain that operates the park , as well as the fact that although Canada's official system is metric, many people use a mix of the Canadian and American systems. For example, I always measure distances in meters/km, but usually for speeds and heights of rides, ft & mph usually make more sense to me.
  17. Somebody nominate this for best idea/post of the year please
  18. Working with intamin again would be great to see (A maverick-esque style ride at CW would be awesome..... Could pay $100 Canadian and take a short trip to ride a great intamin coaster instead of paying nearly 15-20x more to head down to CP ) HOWEVER, with that said, I'm not sure working with Intamin would be needed. CF's seemed to have developed a pretty good rapport with B&M, so if they wanted something really intense like maverick, or B&M's older work, I don't really see why B&M couldn't deliver on that. It would definetly be stepping out of the box for them, but after seeing how they've done bigger things like develop new ride types and start to use launches in recent years, I doubt it'd be too much to ask.
  19. Oh magic title fairy, could you change mine to "I wonder what kind of donkey 'Ziz' will be?" Please? Oh thank you oh wondrous title fairy.
  20. My guess is Minebuster is a future renovation, 2017 is going to complete the trio most likely of Ziz, Behemoth and Leviathan My thoughts exactly. Remember the press release on Skyrider's removal said that a "large construction project" that would take a few years to complete would replace skyrider. My thoughts: -Skyhawk 2016 -Ziz (Not sure what coaster type, most likely wing rider/floorless) 2017 -Minebuster RMC/Reno 2018/19
  21. ^My thoughts exactly. To the original poster's credit though, I've always found the search function a little confusing myself. Personally, I just google the title of a thread with the word "TPR" in front of it, and that seems to do the trick... Poor man's search function
  22. Well, at least we won't have to wait too long before he's in the ground. Apparently he's pretty old too.
  23. It blows my mind how people will wait over an hour for these rides though. At least there is hope that Minebuster will get re-tracked like Wild Beast, but the other 2 are lost causes. And a quick note about Marineland, it's a park with major potential. It has tons of room to expand, it's in a major tourist area and its close to the 5+ million people in the Toronto area. If it got in the right hands it could be an amazing park but unfortunately I don't think the current owners have plans to (or can afford to) turn it into the amazing park it could be. My thoughts exactly... Once they sell Marineland, I will be watching that park very closely. With its proximity to wonderland, and under the right ownership, I could totally see a bit of a rivalry developing between CW & ML... Which would probably bennifit both parks. All Marineland really needs is a new owner. Just look at what happened to CW once it got bought up by CF. Finally, as for vortex, I'll have to re ride it seeing as it gets so much hype. Last few times I've done it, the ride was really rough, and not quite as intense as I'd hoped.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised. When we walked passed on Saturday there were survey markers all over that area. It's such a big space I'm surprised they didn't put a larger attraction there. Unless Skyhawk and Eagles are just the first phase of something bigger. I think they are turning that area into a plaza for Skyhawk with more food stands and snack shaks around. Can't forget whatever's coming to replace skyrider in 2017. Maybe the ride/coaster's layout will head that way?
  25. This is highly unlikely, but maybe this has to do with the proposed "VR" technology used on the ride? I really can't see any other reason for something like this to come out so close to the announcement. After all, as others have pointed out, this is nowhere near as high as their other coasters, and the closest airport to the park is shut down. Why would airspace be any issue? The article did mention that "electromagnetic" interference could be an issue, so although I'm just taking stab in the dark, who knows; could this mean a "VR" system is confirmed?
