Hey Robb, If you get over to Chance Morgan's booth, would be great to see if there's any news regarding their Zipper rides and hyper GTX coasters Thanks -

Underrated Coasters?
canadianparkfan replied to Yero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree with this completely. I think S&S should really push more Powder Keg-style rides, as I'd love to see them at more parks. These rides seem to be a pretty big hit at parks overseas in China; never understood why they didn't take off here on this side of the pond. -
La Ronde Discussion Thread
canadianparkfan replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well, it's totally your choice if you want to head to the park. La Ronde's certainly not perfect, however, that seems to be the norm with a lot of local parks. Unfortunately, not too many places I've visited are on par with Wonderland's great operations. It's really a shame, places like Galaxyland and La Ronde are home to some great coasters (ie. Mindbender and Vampire). I've found the best way to deal with bad staffing is to simply go with a larger group of friends, preferably members of the GP, who don't care what they ride; that way, if operations are slow, or rides are down, the company of your group can help you take your mind off that fact. I totally get that's not the answer that creditwhore enthusiasts want to hear, however, if your willing to sacrifice a few credits, and you know you'll most likely make it back to "insert park here" some other season in the near future, the aforementioned strategy works wonders. While I've never done the "go with a group of GP" thing at La Ronde, I can tell you that it's definetly helped me through a tough season where I didn't make it out to any parks, and the closest I got to a "park road trip" was to pay a visit to Campbell amusements in the next town over. Anyway, rant about my sh*tty season with no parks aside, I'm glad I could help. Feel free to check out a few videos I shot on my trip to la ronde a few years back that I've got on my YouTube channel (link in signiture). -
La Ronde Discussion Thread
canadianparkfan replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Uhh... Yeah, just sit and wait, don't go till they get an RMC or S&S Freespin In all seriousness though, my best advice is to try and get tickets as cheap as possible (probably online?... Haven't been recently, so don't know much about prices). Being completely honest, there's only a handful of rides worth doing, most notibly the following: Goliath: Standard B&M hyper, but IMO better than/on par with Behemoth and Leviathan. There seems to be more airtime hills, along with some great little odd shaped elements near the end that provide some really interesting forces. Monster: Not a great Woodie, aside from the one pop of airtime about 1/3 of the way through the ride on one track, but I'd say just ride it anyway... That way, if the coaster ever gets RMCed, you can say you did both versions Dragon: An indoor powered coaster, similar to thunder run at CW. Fun ride, however, like thunder run, lines for this coaster have always been massive every time I've visited the park. If you plan on riding, head to this one first. Pitoune: Classic log flume ride. Ride this every time I've gone to the park. One of the original attractions that opened with La Ronde back in 1967, and as far as I know, one of the oldest rides still operating in Canada. Condor: Great Huss Flat ride. Ran on a great program last time I was there. Cobra: While not as forceful as the now defunct Skyrider at CW, if you're a fan of older standups, definitely check this coaster out. Smoother than one would expect, with some decent elements throughout. Vol Ultime: Funtime Starflyer, very similar experience to windseeker over at CW, but a little more forceful and enjoyable IMO. Vampire: Saving the best for last... This is the main reason I even bother to visit La Ronde. While BTR clones aren't everyone's cup of tea, I personally can't get enough of them! IMO, the best coaster in Canada (pick back row, outer left seat). DISCLAIMER: Once you have rode Vampire, all other coasters in this country (Aside from possibly Mindbender out in Edmonton) will seem like complete and utter garbage... You have been warned! As for operations... Well, as many have stated before, they're Sh*t. Nearly everyone working there speaks broken English, so if you don't know the native language, French, you're pretty much screwed. Only real advice I can give is to go on a day when crowds are light, that way, no matter how bad operations are, you'll at least get some rides in. As for the park itself, it's no wonderland in terms of scenery, however, the park's been cleaned up a little in my recent visits. The middle section of the park, to be honest, is kind of a sh*thole, however, the front (Vampire, Vol Ultime etc.) and back (Goliath, Dragon etc.) areas of the park are decent, with some nice shaded areas to get out of the sun/rain. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
canadianparkfan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Skyhawk does look amazing... Watching onride POVs of similar rides, I've noticed the motion of the inversions look similar to B&M corkscrews (get a nice "whip" effect over the top). However, that being said, I'm wondering how the capacity will be. With only one rider per seat, either the lines will be long, or cycles will be short. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
canadianparkfan replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Agreed. Skyrider was/is amazing. If they'd just outfitted it with sit down trains, (pulled a mantis conversion), it would've been near perfect, and maybe increased ridership just enough to keep it around. Either way, like you said, glad it's at least still operating, albeit overseas. -

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
canadianparkfan replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Seriously though, unless a coaster gets put in, the GP don't tend to notice. Not sure how someone who lives nearby the park would miss any of the new additions, however, most people where I am (about 2 1/2 hours away) think the last big addition was Leviathan. A lot of people around here only make the trip over to CW when a big coaster opens. So until "Ziz" gets added in 2017 (#should'vebeen2016 #f***U_CP) a lot of people are going to think the park added nothing for nearly 5 years, when in reality, business is booming, and they've added something nearly every season. -

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
canadianparkfan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm glad I didn't punch a hole in my computer monitor due to the sheer anger I feel right now, knowing my home park totally psyched everyone out, and having to face the cruel and agonizing truth that the only thing us coaster fans here in the greater Toronto area can do is watch CP build/enjoy their coaster, trying to enjoy the positively "meh" flat rides we've received for 2016, while we wait another eternal season for our own steel masterpiece.... Wait where was I?... Rant aside, I'm glad I didn't punch a hole clean through my monitor, so I can admire raptor's new paint. -

canadianparkfan replied to CPmillenia94's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hmmm... Predicting the future.... ^^I know what you mean with full throttle. I hated how SFMM faked out everyone with the animation/previews, not showing that the top hat ended with a break run half way down. As for my home park, not really a modification, but I'd get the flats (particularly the frisbee and topscan) at wonderland to run better/longer cycles). -
New theme park for Turkey, Ankapark.

The green coaster is a Wild Wind, made by the Italian company Interpark (and Pinfari too, I guess?). There's one traveling the European fair circuit called Xenox, but the ones that have been installed at parks are in really obscure locations. That ride looks... Interesting?... Can't tell from the vid if it'd be decent or just plain rough. ...However, the lineup of flat rides in the background at that fair in the vid looks fun .... Looked like a couple KMG rides, a Fabri or ARM drop tower, plus a few other decent flats I assume... Enough to keep me happy for at least an hour or two! Also, just love how at the end of the video the op hops over the track like a B0$$ just a few feet in front of the train as it pulls into the station. -

THIS: The enthusiast who beat RMC at their own game, and came up with the TREX concept for a school project I say they should start asking RMC for a percentage of their profits on each TREX coaster sold! Seriously though, this will be great to compare to whatever RMC shows us at IAAPA in a few weeks! -

Poll: Favorite Inversion?
canadianparkfan replied to timetrial3141592's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Zero G rolls, followed by B&M corkscrews. Two very unique, and enjoyable, elements. Loops are also pretty good, depending on how they're executed. Some of the better ones I can think of include the Edmonton Mindbender's "greyout-inducing" loops, as well as the amazing loop, zero-G loop combination on BTR clones. -
Strongest/Most forcefull Launch
canadianparkfan replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I know the feeling... Well, sorta Seems like the intamin & S&S drop towers have a similar deal going on. The S&S towers give a great pop of ejector air at the top, but it's overwith so quickly, and the rest of the "fall" is so "controlled" that you hardly have time to appreciate it. On the intamin towers, however (2nd gen models), you get a good strong pop of floater air that lasts the whole way down the entire drop, all the while feeling like you're falling faster and faster; gets me every time, always wondering when, or if, the breaks will ever kick in. The S&S towers (well, most of them), are great fun, but intamin just does it right. I'd imagine a similar statement can be made for their launchers. Can't wait to get out there and try TTD (and possibly an S&S launcher if I make it over seas) some day.
