  1. ^Pretty sure you're correct. The park sold the land a while ago. I believe they're building a hospital there now. While the park definitely still has some room to expand, I'm not too sure why they sold the land north of the park. They must've struck a pretty good deal. Speaking of future development, really pumped for sky hawk. With the foundation going in, it's only a matter of months before the tower and rest of the ride go up
  2. I'd have to disagree with the BTR clone statement somewhat. While they mostly provide positives, the Zero G roll gives some good airtime, and the corkscrews provide great laterals. Not perfect, but definitely a good mix of everything IMO.
  3. Any idea what the big difference between the sattilite jet ride and the chance radar is besides the manufacturer?
  4. A question for Robb: Obviously, the tours were a huge investment, financially, and in time spent planning such an undertaking. So how did it all start? Obviously the website was the first step, but how did you get to the point where you guys could organize such massive tours? Barely any other site/club does stuff on this level (only seen the European Coaster Club offer a similar tour recently), so I'd imagine an enormous amount of time and money goes into something like this... Something that most sites/clubs can't afford to put on. Best regards, Canadianparkfan
  5. Here in Canada, the major parks are very spread out. If i had the money, I'd provably start a park in a mid-sized city that doesn't already have one; Regina, Saskatoon, Winipeg, somewhere in Northern Ontario, etc. Given the cities mentioned all have pretty short summers, I'd probably build them indoors. If the first park turned out well, I'd consider building a chain of mid-sized indoor parks in the various cities listed above.
  6. Top 5 Towers: 5. L'Orbite - La Ronde (S&S space shot tower) *Much stronger launch than other S&S towers I've been on, and a unique setting on an island in the middle of the park, but virtually no airtime. 4. Cannonball - World's Finest Shows (Travelling ARM/Larson tower) *Great for a traveling ride, however, didn't quite live up to the hype that was built up on this thread. Almost feels like a watered-down version of the intamin towers 3. Space Shot - Huntsville Space and Rocket Center (S&S space shot tower) *Great launch, with plenty of ejector airtime at the top of the tower. Gives a great view of the outdoor portion of the museum as well... Very surreal experience being on a ride that normally towers over everything at a park, and still being able to look up at the nose cone of the 300'+ rocket standing next to the tower. 2. Space Shot - Galaxyland (S&S double shot tower) *Forceful launch, followed by one of the most intense moments of ejector airtime I've experienced on any ride. Also the first, and only indoor tower I've ever done. 1. Drop Tower - Canada'sWonderland (Intamin 2nd Generation tower) *Provides the best sensation of speed/Freefall/I'm gonna die feeling of any tower ride I've been on. Great pop of floater/ejector air that lasts all the way down the tower until the breaks kick in. Great ride to do with GP too, especially if they're used to the (relatively forceless in comparison) drops of the two B&Ms at the park, Behemoth and Leviathan, and think the tower will be a piece of cake... None of them have any idea what they're getting into.
  7. If the park is crowded, I'd suggest getting a fast pass. If not, you may not need it. Be sure to ride guardian first, then head to either the left or right side of the park where the b&ms are. The lines will get crazy long crazy fast for guardian due to its low capacity. Other than that, can't really give much more advice, as I haven't been to CW in the past few years. PS: There's a Canada's Wonderland Discussion forum on this site, where you'll be able to receive even more tips.
  8. Never been on one, but I remember seeing one in Niagara Falls a few years back. I've heard they're quite forceless/dull.
  9. ^^Odd... Always thought drop tower was for sure a 5.
  10. With CW installing one of these, makes me wonder if any other parks in the CF chain will get a ride like this? Also now wondering what the point of the windseekers all over the CF chain was for as well... These rides look like they'd provide a similar, if not better/more appealing experience to wider range of people.
  11. Yes, I know I'm bumping this thread by 10 years... HOWEVER, couldn't help but notice that the ride at PGA (now CGA) was called sky hawk. I wonder if CF/CW drew any inspiration from their sister park when naming their modern take/reboot of this classic ride? (Gherstlaur sky roller).
  12. Ever wondered what happened when a woodie was demolished, and not relocated??... Now you know! It was sad to see the ride go (I believe it was the Ozark Wildcat), however, I found it incredible how much the track could bend before breaking... Absolutely insane! On a "happier" note, here's a video of Son of Beast's final moments... Hopefully this cheers up some of the KI fanboys.
  13. Well, my home park's getting the tallest one ever made... Still a few hundred feet short though
  14. ^Wonder if any parks this side of the pond have the same thought. New resort perhaps?
  15. That ride looks amazing! Hoping some North American carnivals/parks pick these up. Been on a smaller version located at a space museum. Loved the experience. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mzc1Mz56vrs
  16. Can't say I've felt the same way at parks (GP friends of mine plan trips to my home park with each other at least a few times a summer). However, carnivals/funfairs are a different story. If I see a carnival that's got a few good looking flat rides, I'll usually try to stop by for an hour or two. If the fair's crowded, or in the wrong town/neighbourhood, it's by far the worst place to be. I've even had to pass up rides, wasting money on tickets I never used, because I can't stand the sketchy folks I've stood in line with for an hour.. Thankfully it's not all bad... On the flip side, if the carnival's relatively quiet, usually just after opening/before closing, I'll get far more than my money's worth. I've been to several fair's where I'll get a chance to talk to a few of the ride ops. Surprisingly, quite a few are pretty impressed with how much I know about the attractions, and more often than not, I'll get a few free rides after chatting with them.
  17. ^Thats a great ride. Also like the drop at the beginning. Much better layout than other mouse coasters.
  18. The problem with woodies is that they're cheap upfront, however, they're expensive to maintain. If left to fall into disrepair, you'll eventually need to pay for an RMC conversion.
