  1. Very cool. Makes me wndercwhat the earliest roller coasters looked like... Maybe something like this?
  2. Same here Leviathan at my home park has an over bank that definetly feels like an inversion while riding it though. Probably gets as "inverted as most incline loops. In addition, adding to the weird facts, Leviathan was also the first coaster to start the "Front gate coaster trend" at CF parks... Not gatekeeper (CP may have stolen Valravn from CW, But they can never lay claim to the front gate idea... We did it first!... Yay Canada!! )
  3. Different make of ride, but seems like it'd be similar to this flat in the video below.
  4. RMC... Iron rider??? Really hoping this is CF's first first venture into working with RMC.
  5. Ride looks awesome. Wondering if the first drop will have much airtime. People are comparing it to GeForce in Germany, however, every curved drop I've done is pretty weak in the airtime department.
  6. ...Don't worry... It'll be coming... Most likely for the 50th anniversary in 2017 ^Wondering same thing about gravitor. Looks fun though.
  7. ^Thought the same thing... Guess for the next two years I'll be heading to both parks... Flats in 2016, Ziz at CW and the 50th anniversary coaster at La Ronde (maybe?) for 2017. Anyway, looks like I'll have to push that CP, HP/SFGAdv or SFGAm (Can't decide which one i plan to hit yet) trip back a few years... I'll be getting my fill of great flats (and POSSIBLY coasters) up north!
  8. ^My thoughts exactly. Sitting in the front of the train gives a cool "whip" effect going around the loop. Only complaint I'd have is that the hang time is a little too excessive for my taste... Rode the travelling version this year at a local fair, and could only handle a few cycles in a row because of the extreme hang time. Had a bit of a headache afterward. Personally prefer the faster paced flats, like the chance zipper, mondial topscan, KMG Freakout etc.
  9. Plenty of floorless rides now use overhead/side lap bars as well. Take this flat ride for example : Happy to see the manufacturers are finally moving away from OTSRs.
  10. ... Don't forget CW... AKA CANADA's CP #Ziz2017CW #KD2018
  11. Is there a strong chance of us getting a coaster in 2017? #ZizCW #OhCanada
  12. ^^Thats all great in theory... However, being a new school B&M (and a dive coaster at that), airtime will be minimal/non-existant
  13. Link to Article Article says the h*#%er's first name was Ashley.... Was their last name Madison???
  14. ^I don't give a damn what they're marketed as... More chances (pun totally intended) to ride zippers is always a good thing!
  15. No.... Should be Hoping and praying that they can make a park model zipper out of this! Also, don't forget that CF management said they were looking to bring back some old school flats. In a perfect world, these would end up infecting all CF parks in a way the "Chaos (non) Coaster" super loops have infected the SF chain... But because they're zippers, it would be way more awesome Seriously though, a park model version like this could be great... Wonder if that's what's happening with the ocean city zipper where the cages were removed? (Shown a few pages back). Also, anybody know where that video of the open air zipper came from? Would love to see the original site. Tried typing "open air chance rides zipper" into YouTube and nothing came up.
  16. Where are the installations of the 140' model? Beech Bend's is 140 feet, and StratosFear is apparently 148 feet though I'm not sure if they're including the decoration at the top or not. So does beach bend now have two of these rides? Remember seeing pictures of another smaller model there called shock drop (probably a 90' portable model), as well as the taller version.
  17. Haven't done a ride like the beast, however, been on KMG freak outs and giant frisbee rides with outward facing seats. Personally think the freak out (inward seating) was far better. A lot more forceful, and a great feeling if you ride with a large group of people, as you can see everyone on the ride with you.
  18. Looks great. If they sell/market it right, could totally see this doing for the zipper what the open air versions did for the super loop.
  19. Just want to second this AND also say I am looking forward to the new flat rides. I have done the flying eagles equivalent at other parks and there is some good fun to be had with the "sail" in order to gain extra height. What some people forget about CW is how good a park it actually is compared to some in North America.....and how "blase" we can get just because it is there and we are used to it. I am originally from the UK...and have been to Alton Towers, Thorpe park and Blackpool pleasure beach. None of those have anything like Leviathan or Behemoth (Pepsi big one is the closest). When I get visitors from the UK one of our tourist things to do is take them to CW.....imagine a roller coaster newbie trying Leviathan for the first time...when the biggest thing they have done is something at the local funfair. There usually are some heavily soiled trousers after a ride! Some of the coaster community seem to forget they are not the only ones who go to theme parks or just because "we" have been on something numerous times or seen it numerous times...does not make it boring in general. My personal opinion at this time is the CF has done an EXCELLENT job with Wonderland, has turned it into a "returnable" park (I have a seasons pass), has two rides that scare British tourists (Leviathan and Behemoth), has added new attractions each year since purchasing from Paramount and overall seems to "care" about the general "fare" paying public. I think criticism at this point in time is not really comparable to the actual state of the park itself. Just my two cents. Exactly! And don't forget the SkyHawk!... AKA Windseeker-on-crack-do a barrel-roll edition!
  20. That would be a great layout for a wing coaster; flying over the midway and interacting with the other rides like that would be amazing. Personally could see us getting a launched wing rider, stealing thunderbird's, and possibly some of gatekeeper's records.
  21. Everyone raves on about how awesome these rides are... The portable versions must not be as spectacular. I rode a 90' portable version at my local fair, and while it was WAY better than I expected a travelling ride to be, and by far the best ride at the fair, it wasn't the best flat I've ever done. I personally find the Intamin towers provide the feeling that everyone raves about, while the ARM version I rode felt more like a "watered down version" of the Intamins. I'd imagine the larger 120' and 140' versions are a lot better, being nearly twice the height?
  22. Um, you don't know if they're getting a coaster in 2017. It could be a waterpark expansion for all we know. dude I'm sorry, I know your expecting a massive coaster at Kings Dominion in 2017 but the news articles and the massive amount of land clearing and orange markers pretty much screams were getting a coaster in 2017. In fact there was so much activity we thought it was 2016. Like they always say don't predict till you see land clearing and other signs of coaster construction and well, we have seen them, infact we have more going on at our park then Cedar Point does for theyre 2016 coaster
  23. Well that's a real bummer to find out the tours have gone on hiatus just around the time I was saving up for one, but thanks for the info non the less. Love TPR in general, and I really do hope the "public" tours return in the future. Guess in the mean time i should start planning to head to CP in the next few years... That is, if Valravn is any good!
  24. Always considered saving up and joining one of the tours you guys do. However, I can never find any information about any of the tours or events. The section in the Store page of the site is always blank. So, do you need to become a member of Club TPR first, is there a specific thread where upcoming tours/registration dates/prices get posted? Etc.
  25. They've got a multi-axis version of one of these at a Science Museum I visited here in Canada last year. Was pretty fun, and MUCH safer. Also reminds me of a similar contraption that's apparently a big competitive sport in Europe.
