In regards to people getting sucked in, never heard anything about wave pools, but here in Canada, about 8 years ago, it happened on a waterslide. News article: http://www.canada.com/story_print.html?id=bad15ca4-9dea-4024-92d7-cbc2fa1cb352&sponsor= Real scary stuff. Was traumatized more and the whole thing was made even worse, due to the fact that I was still in elementary school at the time this happened (I believe the kid in the accident was only a few years younger than I at the time), and the fact that I was actually on a family vacation at a massive water park the day the incident happened.
-
But it can't be said enough. I've witnessed this phenomenon at every park I've ever been to. Was at a carnival two days ago and this happened. Didn't help the path was about 5' wide, creating a massive bottleneck for everyone. Fun times! As for my own rules: -Don't be the one who has to say, "somebody died on this", every time you come across a woodie, or looper that lacks OTSRs. -If you don't know any "facts" about a particular ride, don't spout off random stats while waiting in line... It gets annoying real fast! -If your child is to afraid to ride/not ready for a larger, more intense attraction, DON'T DRAG THEM ON THE RIDE!! Not only is it putting the kid's safety at risk, but in addition, nobody around you wants to hear a crying, screaming, temper tantruming child for the next hour or so in line! -After riding a particularly rough, crappy woodie, one is obliged to start the "RMC, RMC, RMC" chant when pulling back into the station. It is preferred that this is done on Le Monstre, located at La Ronde, as this will most likely be the closest thing to iron/twisted/vagina colossus that Canada will ever get if this thing's iron horsed
-
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I would definitely call it Vagina. Edit - Ooooo, "Colossal Vagina" would work! I'd just have to clarify if I'm talking about the ride or my ex girlfriends. TAKE THE TUNNEL!! I know this was pages back but OMG it had me rolling!!! Post of the week anyone? Actually, you know Robb, that would be something really cool to do with the forums... Post of the week... This made me rofl, and I'm sure many other TPR members did the same! Totally second your post of the week idea though. Robb, if you could set something up, that'd be awesome! Who else is with me? As for Colossus, I can't wait for the announcement! Just two more days! Knowing RMC, it should be amazing no matter what SF does to screw it up lol

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
canadianparkfan replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Saw this on a TPR youtube video of Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah boardwalk. If he/she is referring to the airtime when they're complaining about the "upward g force", I don't even know what to say to that. I hope to god this was a joke. If not, I feel deeply sorry for this person Seriously. It can't be that bad! it's god damn ****ing **AIRTIME**!!! -
^Same here. **However**, They seem like a company that really respects the enthusiasts aswell as the general public, and may learn from B&M's "mistakes". In addition, enthusiasts seemed a little less prominent back then (can someone who was an active enthusiast back then correct me if I'm wrong?... Robb maybe?). In this day and age, with the advent of the internet, and RMC able to hear the opinions of everybody, GP and fanboys alike, I have some confidence we will not see another B&M, or Intamin for that matter (going too far to the other extreme). As a side note, I'm not hating on B&M or Intamin in any way. I'm just simply stating my opinion that RMC will most likely learn from past mistakes made by other manufacturers.
-
Well, maybe, just maybe, They'll tear out both sides, but keep one side with the original layout (double down and everything), made with topper track. The other side will be "twisted", and include all the elements and RMC craziness we all know and love. Now, this is probably just as stupid an idea, but like Woodie Warrior wrote, I wouldn't put it past the park to do something like this.
-
Who says they can't elevate the turn slightly, on a similar (shorter) level to Goliath at SFGam? I-305 does it at a MUCH higher speed, given a wider radius. To me, it seems like RMC is the perfect balance. They push the limits, but make sure their rides are "rideable". Not as reckless as Intamin yet more willing to push the boundaries than B&M. The ideal coaster company. I have faith in them, and don't believe we'll see any black outs on this ride.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
canadianparkfan replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Have heard from countless GP that they didn't know airtime was allowed on rides. -
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I was just on the Eli Bridge scrambler at my local carnival, so thought I'd comment after finding this thread on google. After just being on the scrambler, I can say that the ride's great, however, I didn't seem to remember any big difference between it and the sizzler in terms of ride experience. It's been a long time since I rode the sizzler, but from what I remember, it was just a nicer looking scrambler knock off with really uncomfortable restraints. While I can recall riding one park model scrambler (somewhere on the east coast of Canada) that seemed particularly forceful compared to the sizzler, that was it... Every other scrambler ride I've had has felt virtually the same as the sizzler (minus the sizzler's horrible restrains ).

I totally understand this was a joke, but as someone who's rode leviathan (the only other B&M gig), and skyrider, I'd legit take Skyrider over L306... At least Skyrider has decent "ejector" -

With CW as my home park, I can say that Behemoth and L306 have no Ejector air. Hell, in the back, leviathan barely has no air at all. The only one that I'd say has ejector is skyrider, which is sadly closing next month . Overall, I'd actually say the best airtime at the park is on the intamin 2nd gen tower. -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

Seeing as there is a zacspin, or 4d coaster of some kind painted in Skyrider's spot, and possibly a new B&M track type spotted, it could very well be b&m's first 4d coaster that we'll be seeing. The reason I described the zacspin as a "placeholder", was due to the fact that I don't believe we'll be seeing anything from Intamin at Wonderland anytime soon. B&M seems to have their place at Wonderland, with park staff mentioning how reliable they are. Sorry for any confusion. -

Just had a thought as to what we'll be seeing at the park in the coming years. On a Miral at the park, there is a silhouette of the park outline, with an Intamin ZacSpin in Skyrider's spot. With this new Zacspin silhouette, I believe we are getting a b&M. It seems that there was some weird track at the B&M Ohio plant (heard it on another forum, so not sure if this is legit). It reportedly was different from any other coaster type's track made by B&M. Based on these two facts, and B&M's reputation for adding prototype rides to wonderland, or pushing the limits with their installations at the park, I believe we'll be seeing a completely new coaster type being added. The Zacspin is simply a placeholder, similar to how the Vekoma Flying Dutchman was a placeholder for time warp, or the HUSS frisbee was a placeholder for Psyclone, the Mondial Revolution. Not sure if this will be true, but in my opinion, it fits. -
Oversensitivity To Roughness
canadianparkfan replied to PaTim's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While i agree rides are getting smoother, I feel the real problem is more about intensity. I find that many modern steel coasters are becoming less and less intense. Yes, I know there's companies like RMC, but overall, it seems like a lot of the big companies like B&M have gone soft, and the companies that still build intense rides, like Intamin, aren't seen as being reliable enough. -
This game actually looks pretty fun... Kinda like ""create you're own final destination"! Looks like a ton of fun, and I'd actually consider buying this. I love how you can crash the flat rides! To the people who will bash this game for being unrealistic,I say this... Yes, games and programs like NL & TPS, are AMAZING, allowing enthusiasts to build absolutely awesome coasters, and even aiding parks and companies in their designs. HOWEVER, IMO, games like the one being discussed on this thread are also just plain fun sometimes! ... I see it the same way I approach battlefield Vs. Call of duty. They each serve different purposes, and therefore, fans/supporters of one game do not have to hate on the other.

^^Agree... Yes, lots of GP ride flight deck.... BUT, they only ride it once. Most people walk on, thinking it's the best ride there due to it's location at the front, but after they get off, all you hear is how horrible it was. If any company's takes advantage of the GP, I'd actually say it's B&M, with their newer installations, besides Banshee. Take leviathan for example. The park bills the ride as the tallest, fastest, most intense ride around. While it is tall, and fast, and nothing to sneeze at, I'd have to disagree with the last point. The last time I rode, I barely got any noteworthy airtime, and overall, it really wasn't very intense given it's size. Compare this to the soon to retire Skyrider. While it wasn't glass smooth, Whatever bumps it had gave me much less of a beating than flight deck, especially considering it's 10 years older. Roughness aside, the ride was MUCH more intense than leviathan, and actually is in a tie for the most intense coaster I've ridden to date. Does the park ever emphasize the fact Skyrider's possibly the most intense coaster in Canada though?... He no. My point, the GP are usually fooled more by size. They certainly can tell if a ride is rough or not. Adding to wgat I've stated, this is exactly why I'm hoping for an RMC to take Skyrider's spot... Something intense to replace what was a true ly intense ride. In addition, an RMC could mean CW would have 4 woodies... Is this significant/marketable outside of Canada?... I know that'd mean they have the most woodies in one place for at least here in Canada, just not sure about US parks.
